Roseate had only caught proverbial whispers for the longest time. Or well, at least a long time for her. She was quite well versed in the practice of scouring the validity of a rumor, but for somebody who had supposedly accomplished such an incredible feat in the name of her family, it was surprising for them to go so totally off grid. But, well, she had her ways.
It took a truly absurd level of scouring paperwork in order to figure out where this mystery-Veile had popped out from. At first, she just thought it was her daughter spreading rumors to bolster her own image, perhaps build some footing for herself outside of the family. An acceptable offense, and one that Roseate would've simply dropped... but no, it seemed that the feats described in passing had been completely truthful. Not a hint of exaggeration to be found. A high expert mage had been severely weakened, and an important warehouse was completely destroyed by this mystery figure. It took all but a few days to figure that out, she merely had to request some military documents.
While she couldn't be certain, she assumed her daughter at least had a hand in this. Not many would masquerade as a part of an earldom without the legitimacy to back them. Unless they were genuinely just... idiots. The Veile family was unique in its widely accepting nature, but that didn't mean just anybody found their way into it. And well, while impersonation of a noble wasn't exactly an uncommon crime, seldom few would choose to invoke the wrath of a family like the Veile's. Given that they were quite possibly a contender for the highest level of military power out of any individual noble family within the kingdom.
Disregarding all of that, after she learned of the legitimacy of the rumors, Roseate... had work to do. Uniquely, she was one of the few ashwings in the family not actually working as another's familiar. That being for two reasons, her standards were quite frankly ridiculous, but also that she managed... almost half of the family's paperwork. On her own.
That was no small feat, and it required an incredible amount of time to do as much. On top of that, she had already been behind after having to deign time to raising her children. And even that hadn't gone all that well. She... admittedly, hadn't done her best work this decade. But that didn't matter now, what was done was done.
With the amount of work she already had to deal with, it was certainly difficult for her to buy time to find this mystery person. But, make the time she did. Nobody else besides her was going to be able to do it, and with that knowledge she was able to work her way through it. Should she fail to identify the situation, no matter how small the threat, something could go wrong. It was on her to make sure everything would be alright for her family, and she couldn't fail in that regard twice in so short a time.
It had been rather difficult to pinpoint where exactly this person had come from, and what they were even doing. It wasn't as if they were specifically trying to keep anybody off their trail, they just... didn't seem to do much. But she had a few theories.
It was very possible that up until a few months ago... this person simply didn't exist within the sphere of the Kingdom. A few theories lined up in her mind, but without any concrete evidence Roseate merely dismissed them as just that, theories. And so that's what she sought, concrete evidence.

The paper trail of this figure was thin, but it was there. The main source of information regarding them could be found in the Efimarus war logs, specifically that of the very tail end of it. Forty five individuals, an assortment of Knights and Nobles of various rank sent to Fort Waoakua as a spearhead for bringing the war to a conclusion. It had taken her a little work, but acquiring access to such documents as an extensive provider for the military efforts of the Kingdom wasn't particularly difficult.
A group of seven individuals had acted as the true push for the end of the war, sabotage and infiltration, individuals selected for their prowess with illusive and offensive magic. No masters, but they were simply unnecessary for a nation of a caliber as small as Efirmarus. And lo and behold... One individual listed as "Lord Veile".
From there, tracking them down hadn't been too difficult. Hailing from a backwater estate, which just so happened to be a mostly straight shot from the Veile estate, they'd arrived at the fort on the fourteenth. Leaving by the twenty second with little fanfare. They'd done their best to keep a low profile after the fact, but had seemingly failed, given the celebrations that had taken place with them as the center.
And who had they left with? Two members of the Ephiramus family, one knight, and the current successor.
From there, it was basically child's play. A little communication, some correspondence... And...
"Hmhmhmhmhm... Finally."
In her hands she held the fruits of weeks of her labor. A single document, of her complied information on her suspect. Now ready to be filled in with the final touch.
"Arras Veile, Spirit Fox, hm?"
She couldn't help but take some pride in it, out of all of her recent work, this had certainly been a little more difficult.
"And a suspiciously convenient Ashwing familiar. My my Illiana, you truly went out of your way for this one."
And another thing that she couldn't help but be happy about... The timing was perfect, utterly so. Mere days before her children would be leaving for the Academy, here she finds herself holding all the information she could possibly need about her... not quite mystery subject. Whom would supposedly, be acting as a professor for that very same Academy.
With an easy smile, Roseate set aside the dozens of piles of sheets and work she'd spent so long agonizing over, and laid the document down with a gentle touch. It had been so very long since she'd seen the sun... A good flight couldn't do her any harm. It would be good to stretch her wings after so much work.
Wasn't as if she could leave any would be meetings behind, her day was clear. She'd had it prepped weeks in advance, today was the day to send her children off to the wider world after all. It would be good for the siblings to meet again as well, perhaps the brothers and she could finally make up.
"Arras Veile..." Roseate mumbled as she opened up a dusty window, stretching as the spell of her artifact came undone.
I do hope you won't dissapoint.
