Chapter 15

Chapter 15

John's walking with the group, still a little dazed from the test. He feels out of place, like he's stumbled into a world he doesn't understand. He glances around at the other people in the crowd, all of them chatting excitedly. Finally, he plucks up the courage to ask, "So, really what's this about dungeons? I'm kind of confused." Elara raises an eyebrow at that. "You've never heard of dungeons? Where have you been?" Anya rolls her eyes John hesitates, then says, "Look, I really shouldn't say this, but I can't really remember anything before I got struck by lightning. I woke up in the woods, and that's been my life ever since. Just me, the crows that I made friends and my fishing rod." Grog looks between John and the others, his brow furrowed in thought. "You're serious about this, right?" Elara looks at John with wide eyes, concern and maybe a little bit of pity written on her face. "You poor thing," she says softly. "Once you get settled in and figure out what's what. I can come over and explain what you don't understand in more detail."

Anya, the high elf, raises an eyebrow. "This is a strange story," she says, her tone a mix of curiosity and skepticism. "We'll see if it's true. If that is the case where is your fishing rod. Did the crows take it?" John smirks a little at Anya. "Oh, you want to see my pole?" he speaks. "I'm sure I'll surprise you all. It's bigger than you think." Anya scoffs, but there's a flicker of something in her eyes that might be interest. Suddenly, a sleek, gleaming fishing rod appears in John's hand. It's easily over 12 feet long, made from what looked like imperial jade green bamboo.

The others stare, their mouths hanging open. Even Grog looks impressed, his eyes wide with something like respect. Elara, though, looks like she might actually faint. As Anya reaches out to touch his fishing rod, John slaps her hand away. John then says, "Since you asked to see it, but didn't ask to touch it, you only get to look with your eyes, and not your hands little miss grabby. Now, if you want to use your hands, then I should be allowed to use mine." Anya's face turns bright red. "Very funny," she mutters, but there's a hint of a smile on her lips. Elara blushes a little too, and says, "Well, what about me? what if I want to look with my hands and I agree to you looking at me with your hands. would that be ok. Some fair trade. so, to speak" Elara laughs while looking at John smirks. "Ok but not now, this is so we can have something to look forward to later." he replies, with a wink and then with a thought, the fly-rod disappears. "See, I didn't lie to you; I told you it was larger than you imagined." "Well at least you're not lying about that, but I will have to wait to see if the rest your story is also true." John raised his eyebrow at that remark. John was thinking, what rest of the story? I already told her my whole story. I hope these two girls understands I'm just flirting with them to liven up the walk just a bit. But I'm really not wanting anything else.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

They continue walking, the tension from the exchange of banter helped in dissipating john's nervous mood a little bit. "So, about these dungeons," Elara starts, deciding to break the silence. "So just to be sure what exactly have you heard of them?" "Nothing not a clue, today was the first I heard of the term dungeon." John replies. "I'm all ears though." "Alright, well, basically, dungeons are these underground places filled with monsters and treasures," Elara explains. "You go in, fight your way through, and hopefully come out with some good loot. And there's different levels, like floors in a building. The deeper you go, the tougher it gets, but the better the rewards." "And that's why everyone's so obsessed with them," Anya adds. "You can get super powerful stuff down there and make a ton of money." John nods slowly, trying to process everything. This cultivation world is not as simple as john thought.

They continue walking, and the conversation turns to the different guilds in the city. They pass the Adventurers' Guild, a bustling place full of people looking for work. Then they see the Fighters' Guild, a more serious place with a tougher crowd. After that is the Mages' Guild, smaller and more exclusive, with people in fancy robes. They also pass the Rangers' Guild, a worn-down building that was on the corner of two smaller crossing intersections.

Next is the Merchants' Guild, a chaotic marketplace full of people buying and selling everything imaginable. Right next door is the Alchemists' Guild, where people in white robes work on their crafting of potions and elixirs. Finally, they reach the Royal Academy. It's the biggest building they've seen so far, surrounded by a high stone wall. There are guards patrolling the perimeter, and the whole place has an air of importance about it.

The Academy is massive. Students from all sorts of races are training in groups and individually. Some are sparring with practice swords; others are practicing magic with colorful spells swirling around them. There are obstacle courses, targets to hit, and a general sense of focused energy. They're led to the registration office, where they're given their badges. The badges are small metal disks that clip onto a belt. They show the student's name, their year, and a symbol representing their primary magical affinity. Common symbols include a flame for fire magic, a droplet for water magic, A rock for earth type magic, and a wavey line for water magic. Some badges were white and black resenting both light and dark schools of magic. John receives a gold badge with no symbols, just a strange crest, it must be indicating a unique or unknown magical aptitude. After getting their badges, they're shown to their dorms. First to the guy's dorms, then the girls. john said they all should maybe meet up later so they could eat dinner tonight as a group. John was enjoying the conversation that was mixed with the friendly banter. The two girls decided to tag along to see where he was going to be living. John was to lead to a private house with its own courtyard. The instructor tells him to behave himself since there's royalty studying at the Academy. Johns was kind of overwhelmed by the whole thing. This was going to be a lot of fun but first let's see what his new home for the next unknown amount of time will be.
