Chapter 14

Chapter 14

After the first stage of the test, John heads towards the second stage. He feels nervous about all the attention, but he's determined to do his best. First up is Grod the Half-Orc. With a determined look, he strides up to the orb. Placing his hand on it, his scores illuminate – 35% in Earth and 5% in Dark. He nods in satisfaction. Next is Alara the Drow. With striking dark features and gray hair, she approaches the orb with confidence. As she touches it, the crowd holds their breath. Her scores appear: 45% in Dark and 10% in Fire. A hint of surprise flashes across her face Then, it's Kael the Human's turn. With light brown hair and brown eyes, he walks up to the orb with a mix of hope and determination. His score is 30% in Water, and a flicker of disappointment crosses his face. Finally, it's Anya the High Elf. The moment she steps into the light, John can't help but notice her. She's breathtakingly beautiful, with bright silver hair that seems to glow. There's an air of confidence about her that border on arrogance – it's like she already knows she's the best.

As she approaches the orb, John feels a strange mix of awe and irritation. He knows it's unfair to judge her based on appearances, but it's hard not to feel a little defensive. When her scores appear – 55% in Air, 55% in Water, and an astonishing 65% in Light – the crowd erupts in shock and excitement. People are buzzing with conversation. Some whisper about the Church taking her in, while others mention the Royal Academy. It's clear she's a rising star with endless possibilities. Now it's John's turn. As he steps forward, he can feel a million eyes on him. He tries to ignore the pressure and focus on the task at hand. Just as he reaches out to touch the orb, something unexpected happens – two crows swoop down from the sky and land on his shoulders, completely unnoticed by the crowd. One crow perch on his left shoulder, the other on his right. John glances at the one on the left and says with a wry smile, "Did you bring back up?" The crow nodes its head as if to say, "Yup." John looks at the other crow and says, "Nice to meet you." With a deep breath, he places his hand on the orb. The moment John's hand touches the orb, it cracks in half, and a blinding light erupts. When the light fades, the crowd gasps in disbelief.

There's was a sudden commotion as everyone notices the crows perched throughout the square – on the edge of the city's wall, the tops of statues, and in the trees surrounding the area. It's as if they've always been there, hidden in plain sight. The silence is almost deafening as everyone tries to process what's happened. Anya's perfect composure falters for the first time. Grod looks both fascinated and disturbed. Kael stares with his mouth slightly open, clearly bewildered. Even the usually confident Grod looks taken aback. No one knows how to react. John started laughing loudly then said. "Well, it's a good thing that I was already offered a position in the royal academy." John then turned to the older man that was running the talent testing. "Sorry, for busting your balls in public like that, but I hope I won't have to pay for that testing ball." a caw broke the silence. John looked at the one crow that was sitting on his shoulder. "I know that was a bad joke but coming from you that doesn't mean much." Caw, caw, caw the crow looked like it was yelling at john. "What do I mean, well, before you met me, you thought worms was the best tasting thing ever. That was until you tried my cooked fish. And look at you now." John started laughing. "So, how about I will go with these stunning ladies for a little bit. Then we can meet up later. I will cook a big celebration meal for us. By the way thanks again for the support and watching over me. And besides, with the two of you sitting on my shoulders. what if one or both of these lovely ladies want one of my arms?" John turns to the two elves and winks. Anya face turned bright red. Just then Alara spoke "I just might take you up on that offer." Now it was johns turn for his face to turn red.

As if on que. Thousands of crows took to the sky. Circling around the city sky. the crowd gasped at the shocking scene. "So, what's next then?" John asked. The man from the royal academy then spoke. "Well, we will go to the academy to get you places, and let you get settled in. By the way my name is will, what's yours." "It's john nice to meet you will." John shook his hand. "First off we will need to get to the academy first then your class will start next week." "That will let you to get to know the area and where your classes will be. Since a person would normally take classes that they have talent in, which would normally only be one or two. Not you john, you will be taking them all." "What all of them? I better still have time for fishing, or the deal is off." John stated firmly. "That's up to you and how much training you choose to do daily. It's your life in the dungeons you either live or die." "Dungeon what dungeon?" John asked. Now it was will's time to be shocked. How did this kid not even know about the city's dungeon. That's the main reason guilds recruit, to get better beast cores. Will then asked, "why did you test your talent if you had no idea why the others was doing the test." "Simple, what did I have to lose by taking a test. Also, I would at least know where to focus my training on. Even if I didn't get into the royal academy." " Well said, ok then if that's the case then let's get going to the academy." Will spoke to the group of 5 people. Taking the lead heading off the stage. John and the rest followed along behind will towards the academy.
