On the previous chapter:

Before setting off on their journey, Lyn and the villagers from Lorca tribes decide to stop by an altar to pray for his group’s well-being. Before they can do it, however, a group of bandits appear and attempt to take the sacred sword, the Mani Katti. A woman sees it and tells Akira and his group about it. Akira, knowing how sacred the sword is, decides to stop the ruffians…

* * * * *

“Report! There are sixteen bandits inside the temple sir.”

Two villagers who had explored discretely inside the temple came back and reported it to Akira. Lyn, who already acknowledge Akira’s plan asked while glancing at him.

“What should we do Akira? Should we directly attack them from the entrance?”

Akira who was still deep in thinking didn’t said anything until the 2 others villagers who were exploring the surrounding of the temple came back.

“Report! There are no bandits surrounding the temple. Sir was right.  There is a small crack on the wall near the west side of the temple.”

Akira nodded upon hearing the report and finally ordered.

“First group with Guy, Jeanne and 3 others villagers with me. The others will break the wall on the west side and join us.”

And thus, without wasting anytime they proceeded to the plan.

* * * * *

Inside the temple, Glass was sitting leisurely on the throne. He heard some noises at the temple’s entrance but he didn’t really mind. He expected for the Sacae’s people to come to the temple and rob them. With such thought, a bandit came inside the room. Several wounds could be seen on his body. He knelt and reported to his boss about the attack they encountered.

“Boss! 6 people are coming soon. They are probably adventurers that come here to pray. One of them got a katana, he seems to be a warrior from the Kutolah tribe. He killed Al and El at the entrance of the temple. The others only got shabby weapons. Three of them are woman, they are all good looking so we can sell them along with the katana for a good income.”

Glass nodded and said with a grin appearing on his face.

“Prepare for the ambush! Since some visitors finally come, let’s welcome them!”

* * * * *

When Akira and his group entered inside the temple, not a single noise could be heard. It was strange. He was confident on his plan, but he still got a bad feeling about it. Once they finally reach the throne's room, A thin men with a longsword was sitting on the throne waiting for them. Only 2 bandits could be seen and was next to him. One on his right side and the other one on his left side. The thin men suddenly standed up and said with a loud tone.

"Welcome to my new palace! I'm Glass, the new Lord of this sacred temple.”

A young boy with a blue weird one-set clothing stepped forward. He was 1,72 cm tall and had black hair. He glanced at Glass and spoke with a mocking tone.

“New lord? You dare call yourself the lord of this sacred temple without even being able to unsheathe the Mani Katti? Pitiful ruffian.”

Glass’s expression suddenly changed and he said while unsheathing his sword and pointed it at Akira.

“You dare insult me! Can you really say that in this situation? Kill them all! This guy is my prey.”

11 bandits appeared behind their hiding places. Some came from the curtains, others from the back, the remaining from a door to the left side. They all started surrounding Akira and his group who already somewhat guessed the ambush from Akira’s plans. Guy who already unsheathed his sword directly rushed behind the group, protecting the back rear while Jeanne went in front of Akira protecting him. The remaining villagers were surrounding Akira protecting him. Akira calmly watch Glass and said with a faint smile.

“Do you really think that numbers are enough? I am Shunsuke Akira! Remember that last name in your mind.”

Right after Akira finished his sentence, a huge sound could be heard from the right side and the wall suddenly broke. Lyn, Sain, and Kent arrived with the remaining villagers who were recruited near the temple. They were numbered around thirty and rush inside the throne’s room ambushing Glass and his group. Glass’s face became directly pale and he shouted at Akira with murderous intent charging at him.

“Bastard! I won’t die until I’ve cut your head!”

Without even noticing Lyn charging at him with full speed, Glass lift his sword and was going to cut Akira’s head.

*Ting*

Five centimeter before the sword touch Akira’s neck, Glass sword has been parried by Jeanne. Without wasting anytime, he sent Jeanne flying to the wall and slashed Akira’s body while asking.

“A girl who protect you, aren’t you the one who’s pitiful?”

*Ting*

Akira parried Glass’s sword and with a mocking tone answered to Glass’s question.

“Certainly, but on a battlefield, men or women are soldiers and you should not underestimate them!”

*Swoosh*

Unfortunately for him, before Glass could hear the answer from Akira’s voice, his neck suddenly sent flying in the air. It was Lyn who was already closed enough to finish him without him noticing her. Lyn who killed Glass directly directed at Akira while asking about his condition. The time Lyn joined Akira, Sain, Kent and the villagers had already killed all the remaining bandits.

“Are you alright? Do you have any wounds? We were worried so we hurried as fast as we could.”

Akira who was taken aback from Lyn’s questions directly answered with an embarrassing face.

“I’m fine, I’m fine! People are watching us. More important than my condition, how’s Jeanne?”

The one who directly answered Akira was Guy who was next to her and said with a relieved face.

“She’s only unconscious. Her life isn’t in danger.”

Akira relaxed after hearing Jeanne’s condition. Excepted for her, there was no injuries and the plan perfectly worked this time. He started looking for the priest but before he could even search for him, someone came next to Lyn while asking.

“Ah, those clothes… Are you guys from the Lorca tribes? I can also see one of you from the Kutolah tribe.”

Lyn knew how much all the tribes respected the sacred temple. She bowed and introduced herself.

“I’m Lyn, the chieftain’s daughter. Are you hurt sir?”

The priest didn’t expected Lyn to bow and said with a small laugh.

“You don’t have to be that much polite. Thanks to you and your friends I’m unscathed. You have my gratitude.”

The priest glanced at Akira and was looking at him with a complicated face. After a short moment he asked Akira.

“Can I ask for your name sir?”

Akira introduced himself and with a self-mocking tone said.

“I’m a tactician and as you can see, I don’t have any other clothes left except this hahaha...”

The priest finally let out a “oh!” and nodded. Lyn on the contrary was saying in a low tone “I thought it was your fighting robe so I didn’t ask anything back then…” while the others villagers also nodded hearing Lyn’s words. Akira could only curse himself for sleeping with a pajama. He finally decided to throw away his regret and ask while looking at the priest with a please-accept-the-request face.

“I was wondering if you could lend me some clothes hahaha…”

The priest looked at Akira and let out laughed so loud that he couldn’t stop laughing and after few seconds regained his composure and said.

“Phfft! Sorry, I was amazed by your request you see. Of course, I don’t mind lending you a robe that our temple apprentices are wearing. What color do you prefer? We have white and black one.”

Akira was restraining his embarrassment who was showing, and said with a enthusiastic face.

“A black one would be really good. If you can lend me this one, please.”

The priest nodded and ordered a young woman to look for Akira’s clothes. Lyn who finally entered in the conversation asked to the priest with a worried expression.

“And the sword? Is it safe?”

The priest who heard Lyn’s question and saw her worried expression said with a confident expression and guided them to a secret room.

“Yes, I have sealed the sword safely away. Until I remove my spell, the sword cannot be drawn. Now, as a token of my gratitude, I shall allow you to lay hands upon the Mani Katti. Touch the blade’s pattern, and pray for a safe journey.”

“Oh, thank you so much!”

Lyn became excited upon hearing the priest’s words and followed him with Akira. Once they arrived in a little closed room, a katana was stuck in the ground on the center of the room with a light glowing barrier surrounding it. Once the priest finished casting his spell, the light barrier faded and they entered inside the room.

Lyn slowly touch the sword. Suddenly, a bright light surrounding the katana, becoming brighter that it enlightened the whole room. Lyn who was surprised by the light spoke.

“What? Did— “

“The sword… It’s…glowing.”

The priest who couldn’t help but watched it with curious eyes while saying with an unbelieved face.

“Ah! Hm… It’s the power of the spirits. Lyn, they have looked into your soul, and they call out to you.”

Lyn who didn’t know what the priest was saying asked.

“What does that mean?”

The priest looked at Lyn with another eye and said with a respected tone.

“You are its rightful owner. You are to wield the Mani Katti.”

Lyn who was shocked by the priest’s words refute him with a shocking tone.

“No… I can’t… I couldn’t…”

The priest shook his head and said with an affirmative tone.

“It is the sword’s wish. If you require proof, draw it from its sheath.

“Um...”

Lyn who hesitated for a short moment finally decided to unsheathe the katana.

“It came out…effortlessly.”

The priest in admiration, said to Lyn with a happy expression showing on his face.

“I never dared hope that I might meet the wielder of the Mani Katti in my life. I am indeed fortunate to see your sword reach your hands.”

Lyn looked at the priest eyes with an amazed face.

“My…sword?”

“Yes, this sword is yours. The spirits accepted you as the only wielder.”

While both were admiring the unprecedented event, Akira was watching something else. There was a strange book with ‘Anima magic guide' writing in Japanese on it. He pointed the book at the priest and asked the priest with a curious face.

“…What is this?”

The priest looked at the book that Akira was pointing and said with a regretful tone.

“This book was a gift from an old friend of mine. Unfortunately, I couldn’t understand what was written inside it.”

Akira eyes sparkled. He asked the priest while explaining to the priest what book it was.

“Sir, do you need that book? I think I can read it. It’s an anima book about learning magic.“

The priest who heard Akira’s words looked at him with approving tone and said.

“My old friend was certainly a magician. Are you perhaps also a magician sir?”

Akira couldn’t help but make a fake smile and said with a weird laugh.

“Yes…hahaha I’m learning though.”

The priest nodded hearing Akira’s answer and said.

“You can take it. I don’t have any use for it.”

Akira took the book and the message system popped inside his mind.

*Ding*

You have learn Anima magic.

A faint smile appeared on Akira’s face. He thanked the priest and they left the secret room. Akira never expected to win 2 precious weapons instead of one. He could finally learn magic! He still need to learn the contents inside the book and meet a real magician for advice. But his mood was good. When he finally came back at the throne’s room, a young girl was waiting with a black robe. He took the robe and thanked the young girl who was looking him with weird eyes. They decided to sleep inside the temple and leave on the next morning.

The adventure didn’t start yet, but no one even Akira didn’t know what was awaiting them soon…

Extra :

Sain:

“So this is the Mani Katti… A blade with no equal.”

Lyn:

“This is all so unbelievable. Perhaps the most famous sword in all of Sacae… in my hand.”

Kent:

“It’s not so strange. In fact, many legends tell similar tales…”

Special blades all over the land call out to their proper owners. And yet, when I saw you draw that blade, Lyndis… I felt something extraordinary. That sword was waiting for you. You were meant to draw it.

Lyn:

“Stop it! I… I’m nothing special!”

Sain:

“Think of it this way: Some weapons feel more comfortable in your hand, right? Well, the Mani Katti itself feels very comfortable with you. Does it make it any easier for you to accept? It doesn’t appear that either of us can use it.”

Lyn:

“It… does feel right in my hand. A blade that only I can wield. That seems reasonable enough. I can understand that. Look at it, Akira. This is the Mani Katti. This is… my sword. I must care for it well.”

Akira:

“As expected of Lady Lyndis...Pffht! You better take care of it. It was hard for me to look for a good plan you know~“

Lyn:

“Akira!!! You jerk!!!“

* * * * *

Lundgren:

“What? Madelyn’s daughter is still alive?”

Soldier:

“Uhh… Yes, Lord Lundgren. The girl is traveling with Kent and Sain and a strange tactician. What are your orders? If we let them be…”

Lundgren:

“Bah! I’ve heard that northern Bern is full of bandits. She’s just a girl. She’ll not survive her journey here. I’m more concerned with my older brother. His life must be ended quickly. The poison… There must be no blunders.”

Soldier:

“Yes, m’lord. He suspects nothing and continues to drink it. The marquess’s death, due no doubt to “sudden illness,” is not far off.”

Lundgren:

“Heh heh heh. Soon… Soon Caelin will be mine!”
