As I pull out my dagger from the dead wolf’s body, I look back to the last wolf. It isn’t scared; it seems that it is the stronger one out of the few. As it lunges at me, it’s speed is discerningly faster than the other wolves. As I try to roll out of the way, the wolf tries to grab my foot, but he doesn’t get a good grip on me. Though he does cause a bit of damage, it’s manageable as it lands. I’ve already taken a few steps back.
The wolf turns to me. I drink my second mana potion as I used the first one fighting the other wolves. I prepare [Ember] and have my dagger in my off-hand. The wolf hesitates after seeing [Ember], which gives me enough time to lunge at it. As I get closer, the wolf opens it’s mouth to try to bite whatever reaches it first, but at that moment I throw my spell, and it catches the wolf off guard. It hits the wolf in his mouth. It panics, but that doesn’t help as his throat is burned due to the heat. It looks like he's in pain, and it stopped paying attention to me. I walk up to it slowly and quietly so it doesn’t notice me. When I get close enough, I plunge my dagger into its head, and it dies.
I talk to myself, “Phew, that was tiring.” I open up my notifications to see what I got.
[You’ve killed]
You’ve killed six wolves.

[Achievement]
{Prodigious Newbie}
Be one of the first in your tutorial to kill five monsters.
Be one of the first in your tutorial to use your skills.
Reward:
Title: Prodigious
Stat points: 3
A title I never knew those things existed; they probably increase stats or the like. I open the title description.
[Title: Prodigious (B-rank)]
This title is given to people who learn or adapt astonishingly fast.
It increases the chances of learning new skills and makes it easier to level up skills.
+10 to the stat of choice
{Upgradeable}
{would you like to equip the title?}
I equip the title and allocate the stats to mana to increase my spell capacity.
I really need to figure out how to get a class, as unlike before, I feel like I have a chance, and unlike others, I have more information, though it’s only basic information. Any information is crucial to survival. I lean over to the dead wolf and start butchering it, not to eat but to see if it has a core. I fish in deep of the wolf, but no core. Maybe they don’t have mana or simply the tutorial doesn’t have cores.
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
I pay attention to beyond a few kilometres, but it seems there seems to be a heavy aura as it's visible to the naked eye, and the only time I’ve seen an aura was when a b-rank got mad at a simple shopkeeper, though that did not end well, mostly for everyone below b-rank, which most people were before I went back, though it seems to be staying still for the present moment.
I need a spell with more firepower as my current one barely does sufficient damage to hurt a level 5 monster since [Mana Bolt] ends with a small explosion. Maybe if I merge it with [Ember], it’ll create a new spell since I now have more than enough mana to cast both of them at the same time; it just needs effort.
I prepare [Mana Bolt], and once it finishes stabilising, I cast [Ember] in my other hand. I physically push the spells together, but they reject each other. I put more force in, but the force stopping them becomes stronger.
Maybe I need to mentally do it. As I mentally merge while pushing them together, the force weakens, but the moment I start celebrating, the force becomes stronger, so I need to keep mentally and physically pushing to make sure it works. As I focus on pushing them together, the force weakens bit by bit. I keep going for a minute for five for ten, and then they successfully merge. The new spell seems close to double the size of the other two and seems more powerful.
I keep the spell by my side, and it doesn’t need much maintenance as it only takes 3-5 mana every ten minutes, which is less than half of my natural regeneration, to stop it from decreasing in power, blowing up, or losing control of it. I start walking to the forest, of course, away from the massive source of the aura.
I spot a pair of goblins hunting a few wolves. It seems the wolves are the weakest species in this forest, which means that the goblins are stronger than them, so I throw the new spell at them. It goes better than I thought. It makes an impressive-sized explosion, probably enough to fit a decent-sized bedroom. I open up my notifications.
[Level up]
[Level up]
[New spell]
Small Fire Bomb
A small exploding attack’s explosion varies depending on the mana fed to it over time.
Rank: E+
Damage: E-C
Starting mana usage: C (100 mana)
So it’s a variable spell, and by that I mean a spell that has a staring mana and becomes stronger the more mana is inserted. As I look at the notifications, it seems those goblins were level 12, which means they were E-rank monsters, and I’m level 6 now, which means I’m now eligible for a class but no new notifications.
I ask no one, "Hey, when do I get a class?” To my surprise, I get a response.
[Class info]
All players in the tutorial are eligible for classes, though they may not get them until either they finish the first out of the five floors or reach level 25 while on the first floor.
So it seems that if you go through the tutorial, the maximum to get your level is 25, while the minimum is 1, as long as you somehow don’t meet any monsters, but I doubt that will happen.
Well, I should start working to level 25 to get a class, as I’ve never had one before, which means getting one will be a whole new experience, which means I need to start grinding and levelling my skills. I check my stats one last time before starting.
