Chapter 1: Awake Again

Chapter 1: Awake Again

“Not again…”

With tears in my eyes falling to the pale white floor below me I couldn't help but speak those words for the thousandth time.

“Hello!?!”

A looming female voice from above me called out.

I couldn't respond.

“Hey, hey, what happened?”

I wiped my face clean with my arm. I had another chance now.

“It’s too late now anyway.”

“That’s true. You did just die.”

I started walking in the white abyss to the only thing here, purple markings on the ground arranged in a circle.

“Wow, we have a calm type this time. Not surprised at your own death?”

“Not in the slightest.”

“Haha, I see, I see… Wait… where do you think you’re going?”

The voice seemed to break character.

“To get reincarnated.”

“Hmm? You know your stuff. Been watching too many fantasy shows, haven’t you?”

I didn’t have the luxury of time to stay and chat.

“Hey don’t ignore me! I still have an entire rundown to do!”

The voice finally revealed itself in front of me. It was a little ball of white light. I tried to walk around it.

“Stop! Stop! STOP!”

“You can explain while I’m at the menu.”

“Huh?”

And with that I reached the center.

“Fine! Okay then!”

The voice now spoke even faster as the scenery turned to black and a menu screen appeared in front of me while the white ball of light remained visible.

“Welcome to the spirit world! You died and now you are being revived in a new world as a hero on a quest to defeat the demon lord!-”

I clicked some buttons on the menu screen.

I skipped the welcoming screen and got to the menu to choose my skills.

The voice seemed to speed up what she was saying even more.

“-I would advise not choosing them right now as you don’t have a-”

I obviously chose yes.

“You skipped the explanation, Mel.”

“It's Melphelia!… Oh I don’t care anymore, you can just do it yourself.”

“Sorry but you’re coming with.”

No

Again I clicked yes.

“WHAT!”

Are you ready for another world of adventure?

Start

Go back

The choice was obvious.

“WAAAHHH!”

I awoke to a familiar taste in my mouth.

“Grass.”

There was lush grass on my face as I was lying on my stomach, I swiveled around and took a breath. I stood up and took a look at my surroundings. I was in a basic shirt and shorts, same thing you would expect a commoner to wear.

“Only… 10… bonus points…”

The voice from before now came from a small fairy. She had her hands over her face and looked to be in despair from being bought at the skill shop. She had purple hair, eyes, and wings so she could still fly. Overall not a drastic change from her previous form.

“I’ve been dragged here against my will by this idiot, and now I’m going to get eaten by the demon lord… Can my day get any worse!?!?!”

Only some mountains weren’t obscured by the trees all around me, while right next to me there was a pond too small to house any fish.

“Mel, follow me. You're going to get lost.”

“Lost? Like you know where we are… Anyway I might as well get used to this. Not like I’m going home anytime soon.”

After looking under a log and checking the moss growing on it I now had a general idea of where I was.

“Now, we're somewhere in the sacred forest of Yoledew… I think… I would have researched this place more if I knew I was coming here… If I remember correctly there was a human city somewhere around here- Hey! Where are you going!?!”

As she was talking about something I already started jogging north down a nearby deer path.

“Hey! I’m supposed to be a guide here. Stop acting like you know where you're going!”

“I do actually, I’m heading to the supposed city you speak of.”

“Yeah right. Acting like you're some super genius that thinks he knows best… Why did I have to get stuck with you…”

“Shouldn't have put yourself on the skill list.”

"There’s no way I did that…”
