Victory?

“What are you doing you useless piece of meat!”, Liam furiously yelled, but the giant was frozen in place. His legs are limp as if he suddenly contracted polio.

“Why don’t you help him?”, Matthew sarcastically suggested.

“Shut up!”, Liam retaliated looking at him with a burning gaze.

“I think I know why you want her dead…”, Nicolas also spoke, “I haven’t realized sooner…”, he smiled.

“Who cares if you know. Once I’m whole, I can easily take her down”, Liam uttered shattering the crystals he got from his pocket to the ground.

Souls came out and swarmed the three of them as if a cyclone.

“Yeah, I was born under the blue moon, Matthew was probably too…”, Nicolas explained while still fighting the pain, “You found me because of that fact, but Alisa, she was born a few hours after me pass midnight”

The giant felt a sudden terror. He knew Alisa was not kidding with such intent in her eyes. Her earlier attack was extraordinary and injured him, but this time around, he knows that there will be no blocking nor dodging it. He’ll be deleted out of existence without a choice.

“Crawl”, Alisa laughed as she pulled the string of her bow preparing to fire.

“S— Spare me”, the giant pleaded, his deep voice echoing. He crawled as Alisa advised but he only distanced himself a meter back.

“Would you look at that”, said Nicolas, exchanging gazes with Matthew, his twin just replied with a simple nod and a smirk.

Liam was only focused on rushing the ritual as he saw the giant failing its job.

“Alisa now’s the chance!”, Nicolas yelled from above.

“You’re lucky”, Alisa uttered before turning around.

Her wings scorching towards the hopeless giant as they glowed even brighter then looked up and aimed for Liam instead.

“Fire”, Matthew and Nicolas yelled.

Liam suddenly opened his eyes and stepped away from the line of sight.

“That’s no use since I can dodge”, he celebrated as the luminous beam hurdled for his initial standpoint.

“We already figured you’d say that”, Matthew uttered. “You might dodge…”

“But we won’t”, Nicolas added as he smiled.

Both their souls slithered into the air and caught the beam.

It was as if the sun had risen back up in the sky. Alisa’s wings spread even more as she placed every hope and energy she has into her one last shot. She was burning like a phoenix graciously showing everyone its beauty, while the feathers that are falling from them healed anyone who was worthy enough to accept the blessing and burned those who are not.

She poured everything into that one last shot for victory, already feeling the consequences of handling such tremendous power. Her energy was leaving her body in such a rapid pace, her vision was growing blurry every second, and the lingering headache is getting worse.

The top of the waterfall went with a bang. The steam from the vaporized water clouded the scene, making it hard for anyone to confirm defeat or victory. Everyone waited for a sign, a sign that their struggle and sacrifices had paid off. No one dared to move as a body fell from the top.

It was Marco’s. Smiles slowly painted everyone’s faces, their hands about to raise, as their throats began to evoke the cheers of victory, when all of a sudden the steam dispersed.

Liam came jumping down from above, regaining his original form and body. Alisa was left from frozen, wondering if this really is Liam. His face was the same as the twins, however his hair lost the brownish glow and his pupil’s unlike the lively golden brown of Nicolas and Matthew had dimmed.

“Gulat yan? That last shot was commendable, Alisa”, he seized her by the neck.

“W— What did you do to them”

“Them? They should not have existed in the first place. They’re merely an embodiment of myself, mixed with Anwar’s false selflessness. It’s a shame to kill you really, by what I can see from Nicolas’s memories he was very fond of you, even the aphrodisiac didn’t work. If only Anwar did not bless you”, Liam laughed.

“G—Give them back, I—I made a promise to Meriane I’ll get them back”

“Ah, that girl, Matthew was very fond of him too”

Liam tightened his grip, slowly depriving Alisa with oxygen with a smile on his face, “You should close your eyes, Alisa, it would be bad if the last thing you saw before you die is the face of the person you love taking your life”

Alisa tried her best to free herself but after her last act of bravery, she could no longer conjure a single arrow, much more than the bow.

“Why are you doing this in the first place. Don’t you think your friends would be happy to know what you’ve done?”

Liam’s face turned sour, “I already know that. If their souls was still intact, they would be cursing me right now, but the thing is, they’re not. Their souls were destroyed because of this world, they were killed together with their hopes and dreams. Shaine, Shaine had so much she wanted to do, she was supposed to raise an orphanage and help the kids. Mike was supposed to open a tavern and Ben was supposed to be an adventurer. It must have been fine if I’m the only one that died. They could have moved on, but no, it have to be, it had to be the weak me”

Alisa could see the tears skidding down Liam’s cheeks, but there’s nothing she could do. She has no energy left to even lift her fingers. Her vision slowly began to blur, the outside world gradually went farther and father as she felt herself drifting away into the darkness.

She’s already about to give up when a hand reached out to her.

“I’m going to borrow your body for a second, Alisa”
