Nothing Matters Anymore

Matthew woke up to an uncomfortable feeling. His surroundings was shaking as if there’s an ongoing earthquake and he felt the buildup of pee begging to get out. Letting out a grunt to try and make himself comfortable, the thing that he’s trying to suppress had escaped.

He paid it no attention; his eyes were sensitive to the light from all the sleep so he squinted them as he poured his attention to the ceiling. “So we’re back at the hideout”, he thought as he scanned the room. Beside the bed were a cabinet, a table, and a pile of clothes on a chair. He’s not sure as to why, but everything was still shaking.

After his head cleared, he tried to get up, but something prevented his advance, and by the time his blurry vision cleared, Meriane was the first person he saw, panting and ecstatic.

“What are you doing?” Matthew calmly said.

"Oh, you’re awake”, Meriane smiled before getting up and taking the blanket with her. “He’s awake, old man!”, she yelled as she sprinted outside the room.

Knocks came to the door as Matthew got up.

“I already told you, I’m not old”, Liam uttered as he entered the door.

“What in the world is she doing here, Are princesses supposed to act like that?”, Matthew replied as he recognized his clothes.

“Well, I can’t actually control her. She just does what she wants”, Liam explained, handing him his clothes, sitting, and crossing his legs. “She wanted to do some killings but we can’t gather any souls when your asleep. Letting her out was risky so...”

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

“So you gave her something to do and donated me as her toy while I’m out”, Matthew sighed as he wore his clothes.

“To be fair, you’re pretty useless when you’re asleep but your junior is always eager to wake up with just ‘slight touches’. At least that’s what Meriane herself said”, Liam can’t contain his laughter.

“Very funny”

“What? Are you angry about losing something that shallow? It’s not like you lost your soul or do you wish you we’re conscious to—”

“I don’t care. This body is only a vessel and I’m soon out of it.”

“I figured you would say that. Besides, I did you a favor”, Liam grinned as he snapped his fingers. “If this plan succeeds, you can at least call yourself a man before you expire and if you are lucky enough, you’ll be leaving something behind”, he laughed.

“Uh huh, how thoughtful of you considering all you think about is revenge”, Matthew glared at him straight in the eyes, unamused.

“Despite lacking the ability to show emotions, you can clearly express annoyance, don’t you, 16 is the legal age of this world. You have nothing to be ashamed of; I’m doing this to bring justice to my friends”, Liam again laughed.

“Whatever you say”, Matthew stood up, ready to get out, when his stomach grumbled.

“Here, eat this”, he threw him some bread. It was as hard as a brick and if Matthew was right, it might have been two days old.

Staring at Liam, one thought came to her mind: “I wonder if father is still in there.”

“What? You have a problem with the bread?”

Matthew shook his head, sat at the table, and then ate the bread as if it were a delicious meal. But since he was asleep for two days, he’s just happy to have something to eat.

Another knock came to the door. “Master”, Edmund intruded, “They found us.”

“Already?”, Matthew ingested the last piece of the bread.

“No, that’s just on schedule, it’s been two days after all, that can’t be helped”, Liam explained.

“So, what was the plan?”

“We’ll give them the surprise of their lives.”
