NIcolas's Info Dumping

NIcolas's Info Dumping

“Hello, youngsters, how are you doing?”, Alvor cheerfully greeted as he entered the door, waving at Nicolas, who’s washing the dishes.

“I thought you just woke up?”, Anton asked, sitting directly at the bench and Hunter followed.

“I’ve been awake for a while now”, Nicolas wiped his hands to his shirt before facing the others. Out of all, Alvor took his interest. Watching his wide smile and playful demeanor as he sat with Donnor.

“Alisa,”, he whispered to her.

“What?”

“Do you remember what I asked at the waterfall about who the bearded man was?”

“Yeah, you angrily asked what my relationship with him was.”

“About that, do you know the difference between a beard and a mustache?”

“Aren’t they the same thing?”, she looked at her, clueless and confused.

Nicolas had no idea how to react, his fingers to his forehead before sighing, “A beard grows here”, he held his chin, “The mustache, on the other hand, it’s like that”, he pointed at her father.

“Huh?”, Alisa followed his pointer finger, tracing it towards his father’s facial hair, “HUUUUUHHHHHH? So, you mean, I almost died because I don’t know what a beard is?”, she exclaimed, leaving everyone intrigued to what Nicolas told her.

“You can save the courting part later; as much as Alvor would probably love to have a grandchild, we’re still in the middle of a crisis”, Anton cleared his throat.

“That’s not what we are talking about”, cried both Nicolas and Alisa after realizing how close they are together, blushing as they turned to Anton, who’s wearing a smirk.

“Ah, we can’t help it; my bear cub had grown up. I want a grandson”, Alvor said, wiping his eyes.

“Wha— Father, it’s not that!”, Alisa exclaimed before sitting on the corner of the bed while Nicolas sat on the other end.

“So what was the bad news Hunter was talking about?”, Anton broke the awkward silence.

“Before that”, Donnor said, “I would like to apologize for what we did a few days ago.”

“Never mind that now. I know how you felt that time considering the circumstances”, Nicolas replied. “But if I can remember correctly, you called me a reaper. Was that the reason you wanted to kill me?”

“Yes, your soul, may we see?”, Donnor asked while Nicolas projected it as per request, “That blue color it possessed is unnatural; as you see, ours are white”, Donnor manifested a shield. “A reaper is an entity who harvests souls of any living being on its own accord. Though they are entities akin to their souls themselves, they are on another level. However, because they too are souls, they can be used for the Dark God’s revival.”

Hunter and Anton started to feel out of place as the conversation started to go deep. They are confused about what was going on. Projecting souls, the Dark God, was a new concept for them.

“Another thing”, said Alvor, “I know you’re not aware, but we can feel the force it possesses. It’s like a miasma, suffocating and heavy to face. So, could you at least suck it in? It’s hard for us and it will be more convenient if you can hide your presence like a normal person.”

“You can at least ask politely, father”, Alisa whispered.

“No, it’s fine. I also thought that it was the case”, Nicolas agreed before closing his eyes and imagined inhaling in a thick, unpleasant fog.

“It disappeared!”, Hunter exclaimed, standing from the bench. Anton was even startled. After judging eyes was pointed at him, he immediately sat back down, noticing that he was now the center of attention.

“Moving on”, Donnor continued the explanation, “The moment you changed your soul, we already knew we messed up.”

“You’re a guide”, Alvor snatched Donnor’s moment, “Guides are the caretakers of the souls and the tree of life created by the God Anwar. They can change the forms of their souls from sword, bow, and shield in order to accomplish their task of guiding souls from one life to another.”

Alisa joined in, “Unlike reapers, guides can be reasoned with, but it was still a mystery on how a guide could possess a mortal body. You’re supposed to be on purgatories between plains of reality.”

“About that”, Nicolas raised his hand. “Have you met a boy who looks like me?”

“I have it on the market”, said Alisa, “He was blonde and has a sharp gaze.”

“Right, his name is Matthew, my brother.”

“Brother?”, Alisa, Anton, and Hunter squealed.

“Are you still delirious from all that sleeping, Nicolas? I should have let you do the dishes after all.”

“I’m fine and I’m telling the truth”, Nicolas assured them but none of them took him seriously; their worried gazes are glued at him, questioning his sanity as he sat on the bed.

“We all know you’re an only child, and if Frederick had an illegitimate child, I would personally know”, Alvor protested, “If this is a joke, it’s not funny, young man.”

Nicolas waited for them to calm down before continuing his explanation, “Your right, If I have an illegitimate brother, all of you would know, and even though my relationship with my father is quite strained, I’m more than sure that her love for mother is too firm for any affair. But I’m telling you the truth, he was my brother.”

“Are you really fine, Nicolas?”, Alisa kept trying to feel Nicolas’s forehead.

“I told you, I’m fine”, he said, stopping Alisa. “Remember the Blue Moon’s Tale? how certain are you that you know the whole story?”

“Are you somewhat challenging our belief?”, Donnor blurted, shaking the whole table as he felt offended.

“No, that’s not my intention”, Nicolas assured him. “For the past 2 days that I was out, I had a dream—no, a recollection of my past lives”.

“Recollection?”, Alvor leaned in closer.

“Yes, and in that recollection, I saw my memories together with. We’re brothers bearing identical souls. It’s just that, this time around, we died in different places; that’s the reason why we we’re not born twins but cousins instead.”
