Contemplating every decision he'd ever made in his life the new head of the foundational strengthening division made his way through the gates of million journeys sect office. Still amazed that a lowly mortal like him would ever get to use a space gate as it cost the equivalent of six years pay in his old position just for a short activation. Hector had to admit that saving half a years journey was not only convenient but probably best for his health as mortals traveling alone in the ArkWood province don't have great life expectancy.
Hector knew that things weren't potentially all bad as with his new position he would likely be able to afford some low grade foundational materials to enhance his body and life span. "If I can survive long enough that is" shaking off his thoughts he pushed through the busy streets flipping through the folder of information on the talented prospect branch elder Windcrest had sent him to recruit. It appears that what the verdant path corporation and minor local information houses had gathered he appeared in Blackrock port in the past few months with minor mention of appearing in local villages and sect outposts. His background is unknown yet apparently he has displayed deep knowledge in unorthodox training and body tempering methods.
"An exile from one of the western clans maybe" Hector frowned in confusion "but why would elder Windcrest want a body cultivation expert?". Although Hector Vale wasn't a cultivator himself he knew that practically no one outside of the foundation realm bothered with body cultivation in the ArkWood province. From what he knew of cultivation the foundational realm consists of using energy rich materials to enhance the body until it can support either an energy core, soul core or both if you are particularly ambitious entering the core realm. Once you have a core any body cultivation becomes all but irrelevant or at least that's Hector's admittedly uninformed outside perspective.
Shaking his head Hector made his way toward a dive of a tavern that expert Pryor was known to handle affairs at. Arriving at the tavern it was weather warn with obvious damage from where a foundational realm cultivator had smash a support for the balcony leaving it sagging. The sounds of crashing and shouting came from inside, hyping himself up to go inside Hector Vale found himself on the ground with someone on top of him.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
Hayden Pryor knew he should have just skipped town a few days prior after running his nonsense to the black turtle disciple yet the bag of coin he received had overrid his caution. He had hoped to keep the facade going on longer as he'd found a proper customer for his half-baked theories. Now he was sailing through the air tossed by the very same disciple who previously threatened him. Hayden knew bone reforgeing would hurt just from the name but hadn't they gone through it before, why was he so furious? "The bone reforgeing should have wo.." slamming into something cut off Hayden's panicked justification as the wind was knocked out of him. Rolling over he had slammed into a short man in a green merchant suit cut in the style with long flowing kimono like sleeves favored by government and large merchant alliances.
An idea sparked and Hayden help the man to his feet and kneeled pressing his head to the floor in front of him. "Oh lord merchant I humbly request apology for bumping into your esteemed self" lifting his head and looking at the black turtle disciple just exiting behind him "I was put apon by a local thug and I take any punishment you require". Hayden just prayed that the black turtle disciple didn't see the merchant get knocked over or his ruse would be shattered. The only chance he had was for the gullible disciple behind him to believe that like most wealthy merchants think man was at least a mid foundational realm cultivator.
Hector was in complete shock, the man he had come here to find had tackled him and was now droning on about his mercy as a cultivator and how he was somehow a noble?! About to correct him Hector noticed a threatening man in black and gray sect robes eyeing the both of them in anger and maybe fear, Hector wasn't sure but he just kept to his task and handed Mr Pryor a piece of paper. "Why's this" Pryor asked keeping his head bowed "its the recruitment offer from the verdant path corporation, if it's acceptable come with me ".
