The Deepweave was still inhabited by the same spiders that had been raised by the elves in the past. The whole structure was filled with cobwebs fit to snare a full grown person if they weren't careful. Ander had the misfortune to fall into some webs right after sneaking into the area, and was forced to fight a very awkward battle with some low level spiders. It was annoying, but more or less harmless. After some work Ander was able to cut himself free, but the sticky webbing was still stuck to his cloak. Ander knew of a few substances that could get it off, if he had access to the right chemicals. None of which were accessible anywhere without modern infrastructure. Old ruins didn’t have modern infrastructure. This entire planet lacked modern infrastructure. The worst part was that they did have what he needed at one point. The civilization that made the ship seemed pretty advanced. But that was 3000 years ago.
Ander was more careful from that point onward, but still managed to accrue more and more layers of cobweb on his cloak and clothes. And it wasn’t until he cornered a Crimson Stars hunting party that he learned that they had chemicals to both repel the webbing, as well as stuff that could dissolve it if it got on them. He stole their small allotment of solvent, and knocked them out, leaving them for the monsters. Maybe a meal would make the monsters a bit stronger. Having removed the web from his clothes, Ander moved forward to find his new hideout.
The place was remote, being on the far side of the ruin from the sinkhole. However it was on one of the upper floors, which meant that there would be few powerful monsters to threaten the place. Along with the adamantine doors, he should have a near impregnable hidden fortress from which to adventure. And when he arrived, it was everything he had hoped for.
The upper floor had obviously been picked clean years ago. All that was left was rubble and dirt, though Ander figured that anything that was not magic or stone had probably deteriorated by this point. The only thing left of the elves on the upper floor was the architecture. It had the grandeur you might expect from a dwarven stronghold, but with the grace and delicacy you would expect from elves. The heights of things like banisters or door knobs made it clear that the place was made for a smaller folk than the Exodar, but it had enough space for any pro basketball or football player from earth to walk comfortably.
When Ander arrived at the treasure room, It was every bit what he was hoping for. Oddly enough there were two entrances. One was of course the main entrance. The other was a back access from what seemed to be a private estate. Both had adamantine doors, both of which stood open. The treasure room itself was a large room with several smaller rooms on each side. It was apparent that doors had once stood in the passageways to these rooms, but they had long since rotted away, leaving piles of dirt and dust in their place. This place seemed exactly what Ander was looking for, but he still had one make or break issue to solve. Ander turned to the main door. It was large, relatively speaking, as it was still a personnel door and not any sort of freight door. That said, Ander was surprised to see that the thing was only about half an inch thick. Half an inch of solid adamantine. It was thicker around the lock and handle, as well as a section in the middle where a gem could be found protruding from the back. Arcane lines and diagrams surrounded the crystal, but all were completely inert.
Ander’s only real concern at this point was if he could open and close the lock. And so with that in mind, Ander started to examine the inside with his wind sense. Ander was the first to admit he didn’t know much about locks. The most he knew was from a few nights spent watching videos on the subject several years back. But he was still very surprised when he sensed only a single tumbler on the inside. A bent piece of wire was all that was necessary to open the lock. He felt further with his wind sense, thinking that something had to be up. Eventually he sensed the presence of very small engravings, more diagrams like on the back of the door, and it suddenly all made sense.
The lock was never meant to be tricky. The main protection was the enchantment that was on the door, which now had no power. He didn’t know what the enchantment did exactly, but it would make sure the proper key was being used, and likely punish anyone who tried to pick the lock. This was both perfect for Ander, and likely a large reason this treasure room had been looted so early. Since the mana had run out, there was no way to run the security, leaving the entire protection of the treasure room to a single crappy lock.
Ander tested further, and found he could get in and out reliably. Which meant that this was where he would set up, for a while at least. Ander spent the next hour housekeeping. Getting the area clear of dust and debris. He was going to be here for a while after all. He didn’t need every room, so he designated one room for all of the dirt and debris, and chucked it all inside. After which he set out a bunch of furniture, making himself a bedroom, living area, a study, and a training area. When he was done, he relaxed and enjoyed a mug of beer from a keg he summoned to the middle of several couches he had placed in the main room. He wouldn’t be winning any awards for interior design, but it was a nice place for somewhere he would only be staying in for so long.
After a few minutes of sitting and enjoying the relaxation, Ander summoned the Sword of Wind’s Sovereign to his hand. It was a long blade, very much on the long side for what Ander would consider a long sword. Its hilt was done in gold and a bluish metal Ander couldn’t identify. If he had his guess, it was mithril, or some other fantasy metal. The design of the blade and hilt was beautifully done, one element flowing seamlessly into another. Ander used Identify.

Sword of Wind’s Sovereign
Epic Longsword
The Sword of Wind’s Sovereign was made for the lord of the sky. While holding this weapon, control over wind magic is greatly increased. Allows one to project cutting blades around themselves, and to control them at will. Control, as well as quantity of blades are governed by the [Wisdom] Stat.
The sword was perfect, like it was made for his Way of the Wind ability. Ander walked to the other end of the room, where he had designated his training area to be. He swung the sword a few times, and the wind caressed it like it was meant to be there. It was easy to move, creating no drag through the air, even when Ander swung it flat side forward. He felt the wind rush to get out of its way, creating a vacuum in front of the moving blade, and increased pressure behind. And as soon as he willed the blade to stop, the wind rushed to stop it in its tracks. Ander returned to his seat.
Ander summoned the spear and the armor together. The spear was of odd construction. It was also made of gold and the blue metal, but its blade was the same length as the sword, and the shaft was 10 feet long. Cavalry spears were longer, but not by much. Under any sort of normal circumstances, it would be a preposterously unwieldy weapon to ever use. Unless one was flying that is. The length would be a huge asset in an air battle which would likely be held over a very large area. Ander Identified the spear.
Spear of Wind’s Sovereign
Epic Spear
The Spear of Wind’s Sovereign was made for the lord of the sky. While holding this weapon, control over wind magic is greatly increased. Allows one to project piercing spears around themselves, and to control them at will. Control, as well as quantity of spears are governed by the [Wisdom] Stat.
That was relatively straightforward, and very similar to the longsword. Ander took it to the training area and found that the wind treated it the same as it did the longsword. The spear was less perfect, being long and unwieldy, but like the Longsword, it seemed made for the Way of the Wind, which naturally gained flight capabilities as it leveled up. Ander turned to the armor, which was on a mannequin standing next to the beer barrel. The armor looked scaled at first, but then Ander realized that the metal of the armor was simply ridged in a patterned way that made it sort of look like scales.
The armor was full plate, from head to toe, but when Ander picked up the helm, he found it light as a feather. It was also mostly made of the same blue metal, which Ander was increasingly convinced was mithril. Ander decided to try it on, and spent the next thirty minutes wrestling it off the mannequin, and onto himself. It felt surprisingly good. Ander had expected a number of problems, like ill fitting armor and restricted movement, but neither was a problem. The armor fit like a glove, even though Ander had just taken it off a mannequin that was a good bit larger than him. And the suit was cleverly made so that he had full range of motion. He could make any motion he could think of. At least that he could normally do. Ander Identified the armor.
Armor of Wind’s Sovereign
Epic Armor
The Armor of Wind’s Sovereign was made for the lord of the sky. While wearing this armor, the cost of wind magic is greatly decreased. Gives the wearer greater control while flying.
Another perfect thing for Way of the Wind. Ander sat back down on the couch, and stared at the sword and spear. Ander had the legendary skill Way of the Wind. Ander had an airship, if he ever got the chance to summon it. And Ander now had epic weapons and armor that he was convinced were made explicitly with his skill in mind. This was all far too much coincidence for Ander to believe. It was ludicrous to believe that he just happened to fall into that ravine, where he would find a priceless ship, with armor tailored to a ‘lord of the sky’, and then for him to acquire that same exact skill.
But if it weren’t an incredible level of good fortune, that meant Ander had been manipulated into receiving all of these items. But the who, why, and how were all a complete mystery. But it offended Ander’s sense of agency to the point he seriously considered throwing the items back into the ship’s vault and forgetting them. But his greed won over in the end. If he decided not to use the weapons and armor, would he stop using the amulet? He should, if he were going by the same reason. Besides, if someone went to all the trouble to get Ander all of these advantages, they were friends right? Ander sighed, and tried something. He stored the empty mannequin, and then tried to store his Armor directly off his body, and onto the mannequin. He then summoned the mannequin to find it was wearing the armor. He then stored the mannequin again and summoned the armor onto his body.
Ander then moved back to the training area and started to move about. He quickly found that the wind treated the armor the same as it treated the sword and spear. It made his motions far faster than they should have been, and at first he stumbled if moved faster than a slow walk. But he quickly got to the point that he was jumping easily from wall to wall, and clearing distances that were impossible before. Ander summoned the sword to his hands and he felt complete. As he moved through several sword stances that he remembered from the time he fought the hoard of mutated mariners. And the wind rushed to aid him, making his movements light and nimble like never before.
As ander fought, he felt that the set was incomplete. He might just be wrong about the set being made for a user of the Way of the Wind, but he didn’t think so. Which meant that there should be more weapons. A bow at minimum, and likely a couple daggers and a shield. Maybe a buckler. There could be other odd weapons in the set, but Ander couldn’t think of any more at the moment. For now, Ander would use a bow from the ship’s armory if he needed one.
All this meant that Ander was very nearly ready to delve into the depths of the ruin, but he would need a lot of that chemical the Crimson Stars used to deal with the webbing. Which meant he had an errand to run before he could start to fight in earnest. Hopefully he wouldn’t make such a big fuss as last time.
