Interlude: Ren Incantum 9

“I asked Magikus what the point of the ‘mini workshops’ were today. It seemed a little redundant to have separate storage spaces for something he could easily keep within his main workshop, to me, at least. He explained to me that his main workshop was not always where he worked. Before he designed the main workshop, he would simply tear the weave of reality, making a private subspace 2 layers deep in the very spot he was in whenever he had a grand idea. Supposedly, he did this 3 times before finally deciding to just make a workshop for himself. Again, I asked why he kept these mini workshops around, instead of moving them to the main one. He certainly had the means to move the subspaces, even if it would take a while. It seemed like a worthwhile investment, more worthwhile than leaving them scattered all over the place. What if someone were to unwittingly stumble upon one? I asked him that question, worried that he didn’t secure the subspaces properly. They did hold some incredible information after all. If someone with ill intentions got a hold of one of the mini workshops, there’s no telling what they could do. But he simply waved me off.

‘Please, don’t think me such a fool. I left 4 different layers of protections in my absence. Firstly, their magical signatures are completely dampened, meaning the only way to find them is by pure chance. Secondly, I’ve left some close friends in charge of making sure no one actually tries to enter them, even if someone somehow manages to find them. Thirdly, I’ve left guardians in the first subspace layer. If anyone happened to break in, they’d have to fight their way through the guardian to open the final gate, which itself is, fourthly, impossible to detect without my eyes, meaning only one of my children, or chosen, could enter. Don’t worry so much. I’ve taken enough cautions to ensure that the information remains safe and sound, until the right party comes along, of course.’”
