Interlude: Ren Incantum 8

“While traveling through Verulik to meet up with Luradin, I met a man by the name of Evulous Parsis. I’d heard of him here and there, his name bearing some sense of infamy, but I’d never actually met him myself. He had the most peculiar ability, too, exactly like the stories I had heard. He had the ability to boil his own blood to make himself stronger, some sort of twisted enhancement magic. I was almost tempted to name it it’s own magic type, blood magic or blood aspect, but I realized I might’ve been jumping the gun a bit. I don’t think he recognized who I was because I don’t think he would’ve attacked so quickly if he did. But, regardless, we dueled for some time. He truly was something remarkable. His swordsmanship I’d say was second only to my own, his speed even surpassing mine. He actually managed to land a couple of clean blows past my guard, something few men could claim recently, but I did end up winning in the end. Although, most of the mountainside was ripped up, so I’m not sure how much of a victory it really was. I don’t imagine many people will try passing through the northern Thalian anytime soon. When I managed to subdue him, I considered killing him. He did mean to kill me afterall, but I decided against it in the end. Someone of his talents shouldn’t be reduced to a petty killer, even if his affliction was one of a particularly gruesome nature. I offered him a position by my side, and he said he’d consider it. I told where to go in any case, so it’s only a matter of if he ever shows up now. I wonder if killing swine would assuage his hunger? To be tested later.”
