29. Pathetic

29. Pathetic

"Are you sure it's safe to leave the Village to the others?"

"Don't worry everything is fine, I already planned everything so things won't go awry even if we leave for three to five days."

"Is that so, I trust that you know what you are doing, you bastard."

"How can you call me a bastard? I am the Priestess."

Lilith had a new crew with her and they were the strongest Warriors of the Ogre Tribe. Lilith looked at the Ogre Berserker, Ogre Champions, and Ogre Shamans.

She took the strongest Warriors of the Village and led them to one of the three C-tier Dungeons found in Section 5.

Lilith saw the Berserker eye to eye as she sat on Killa's palms who was silently following her orders like an obedient bodyguard.

The dungeon before them was a dungeon that houses Lilith's greatest enemies, the thieving-fucking Wolves, although these Wolves were known as Lycans; Lilith could hardly care. Wolves were enemies thus they must be decimated and turned to EXP... she didn't care if it was a Lycan or otherwise.

Lycans were beings similar to Werewolves but below them at the same time. Though Lycans stems from the race of Wolves just like Werewolves, their minds were different as they're more of a monster rather than a group of intelligent daemons.

'Werewolves, Lycans, these names are really familiar, the ancient records have these myths right?'

Lilith was an enthusiast of all things bizarre and after researching some cute images of different daemons, she came across an article regarding several myths of the past and the daemons of the present.

The myths of the past managed to speak of the daemon lineages of today. Vampires, Werewolves, Faeries, and many more myths had started appearing since the time of the Great Upheaval.

[In the past, before what you call the great upheaval happened this world already experienced a lot of weird shits and some knowledge got passed down through means I don't know. Well, you can just think of them as true.]

'Then what about the many Gods? Are they also true? The Goddess is real so what about the Deities and Gods the ancient people worshipped?'

[They are real and not at the same time, it is complicated so just let it go, will you?]

Shrugging her shoulders, Lilith entered the Gate with the questions already being sealed away. It was dangerous to have a muddled mind when one enters the battlefield. She recently just learned that.

Upon entry, the Portal behind them luckily did not close; else that would be really worrying. The portal this time brought them to a world ruled by night.

The moon hanged low and big, like an eye that watches over the world. She searched for the enemy and found them rather easily.

Around fifty meters away, 10 to 15 Lycans were patrolling the area. They were near the tree line and were carefully searching for enemies and food.

【Lycan LVL 75 (epic)】

'That's a huge jump in their levels. A single Daemon here can wipe out a D-tier dungeon with ease.'

"Then, Berserker, why don't we go about the plan and — hey, where are you guys going!?"

"Charge!"

The Ogres charged forward, their targets: the Lycans.

These Lycans had hair all over, they looked like the Gnolls but instead of a hyena, they were wolves.

The Ogres other than Killa rushed this group of Lycans. The Berserker was the fastest of them all, he ran with all his might and as he dragged that oversized bone sword of his he covered his face with a shiny white skull.

'Are they trying to jump them before they get noticed? Does the Lycan's sense of smell that strong?'

Lilith saw their fast moves that are suited for fast hit and runs and began thinking if what they were doing an ambush, but that was stupid thinking. She should have known better that these Ogres wouldn't think that way, and the Berserker proved this point.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

"KILL!" He roared on top of his lungs, announcing his presence.

Awooo!

The Lycans saw the descending Berserker and his companions and howled to alert their kin. The Berserker hacked at one of the Lycans and kept it to barely living.

The other Ogre Champions arrived next and the Ogre Shamans on the back began casting Curses to kill the enemy.

The Berserker and his crew were doing good, that was until more Lycans appeared from behind the tree line.

The Ogres out-leveled them, but the Lycans outnumbered the Ogres.

Thus, the only thing they could do was run away and escape. The Berserker dragged three dying Lycans with him and the others did the same as they turned their backs to the enemy and booked it.

"RUN AWAY! ESCAPE THROUGH THE GATE!" shouted the Berserker.

Lilith didn't even need the Berserker's orders as she already had Killa running the moment the situation went south.

The two exited first and then the Shamans and Champions followed shortly after. The Berserker was the last to exit the dungeon.

"Did you see our power?" The Berserker said some more things to prove his might but Lilith and only sighed, "What's the problem? I did what we needed to do, quickly, kill the Lycans!"

Lilith watched them with widened eyes, it was too bewildering for her to see idiots celebrating something so stupid.

As for Killa, after all that he had been taught by his Priestess, he now saw their 'supreme might' as something truly ridiculous.

The two face-palmed themselves at the sight of these Ogres.

'Don't tell me they do this all the time, kill daemons and then retreat when they're outnumbered. It's a miracle they're still alive after all these years with this method. It's a good thing dungeon monsters are not that intelligent.'

Without spending the energy to look at them, Lilith let out another sigh.

"You guys are pathetic."

"What did you say?" The Berserker was more bewildered than angered by Lilith's sudden remark.

Getting off Killa's palms, Lilith walked over one of the Lycans and killed it by activating a spell in its mouth turning it to mush.

[Two Horns: Level up]

'Oh, that's quite nice.'

As she walked up to another dying Lycan, she began explaining her point to this useless daemon Chief.

"I said you are pathetic because you lost to those weaker than you were."

"We didn't lose, we retreated in order to regroup! They outnumbered us!" The Berserker argued.

"Retreat? Really? That's not retreating, that's running away after doing something stupid. If this was any other time, I would clap at your methods but no, you idiot ran away against such bottom feeders because you let them call for help!"

"You had the upper hand in both the intelligence and level. You simply did stupid things and ended up failing miserably. Running away like cowards and then getting your HP's halved..."

"How did you know that?"

"I'm the Priestess, I know a lot of things thanks to the Goddess and the Ancestor. Now, shut up and let me finish. You suffered injuries when you could have gained a flawless victory, what do I call that other than pathetic? If things went awry and your men got surrounded, you, the strongest may escape, but the others? They would die. I, would die."

"..."

"You have nothing to say? So you were aware of it that's at least one of your saving grace — ah, Killa holds this one down, it's trying to retaliate."

"Yes, Priestess."

The Berserker had his head hanged low after thinking about Lilith's words. In truth, he wanted to smash her head to pieces but he couldn't do that, so he chose to keep his rage in check.

Besides, every word she just said was all true, and rebuking her words was nothing short of dishonorable both to himself and his people.

Lilith spoke harsh truth and seeing that it was not only the Ogre Berserker thinking things over; Lilith also killed another Lycan and reached LVL 40 in her Two Horns form.

[One Horn: LVL 40 reached

ERROR — Evolution Tree access denied, please level up the rest of your forms to gain access.]

'Damn, the restrictions are really shitty. You can't really cheat this system, can you?'

After reaching LVL 40 in Two Horns, she changed into the Thunder Clap Leopard and went to the next "EXP Sack".

She complained in her heart while talking...

"Don't take it to heart, I know you are strong warriors, but it's just that you are lacking in terms of knowledge regarding strategies — goddammit, why can't my claw pierce this little shit! Fine, I'll resort to poison — ah, I apologized as I got sidetracked. Ahem, to be more précised, what you guys need now is knowledge and coordination, thankfully, I am here to teach you are lacking and help you and the village as a whole grow stronger."

[Nightmare Dragonkin: Level up x3]

'Holy shit, the level gap is so insane that the EXP I get is serious shit. Okay, this is looking good for my evolution.'

Lilith spoke as a Nightmare Dragonkin, she looked at them with her oversized head and smiled. Right now, she had tiny feet and tiny wings, but her teeth were unbearably sharp and large, making her smile really gruesome and attractive at the same time.

They also just witnessed Lillith poisoning the dying Lycans, so her words felt rather painful at the moment. Lilith does what she needs to do and as she had Killa collect the mana cores and put it in a bag made from daemon skin.

"Are you guys willing to become stronger? But be warned, becoming stronger through my means is no simple feat as I would be teaching you ways, our kind does do in particular. However, I assure you that by doing this, the risk of death would decrease significantly. So, are you prepared?"

"Yes!" they answered in a chorus.

"Hey, Berserker, I didn't hear your answer! Do you want to keep your people alive or do you still want to act like a suicidal bomber that alarms the enemy every single time he goes in for the kill?"

"...Tsk, I'm not doing this because I trust you with my life or anything, but for my people, I will do as you say."

'Heh, what a bitch.' Lilith thought as she found his words and tone rather irritating. If she could, Lilith would have loved to let him experience her infamous [Tier-3 Torture] as he was being too irritating.

"Other than Berserker all of you are identical in terms of Race-Variation making it difficult communicating with one another, so I will give everyone a name. Does anyone have a problem with that?"

"No, Priestess."

"Berserker..." Lilith looked to the side.

"...I don't have anything to say, do what you must."

"Alright, starting with you, Berserker, I shall name you...Chief."

Thus, Lilith's naming sense saw the light of day once again and dubbed another pitiful man a name that is also not a name.
