POV: Theo
I had 5 soldiers on the lookout. Four snipers and one to notify Sarah if anything were to happen. Honestly, I couldn’t believe why we received such orders. We were notified of an attack, mobilized to neutralize the threat. Posed as S.S.E.D personnel and saw a dying kid on the street. And it just so happened we got an update to save the kids life. Honestly it looked too timely coincidental but as a soldier I just did what needed to be done and gave the kid an injection. Luckily the serum worked, although a little too fast. Fast forward and we are stalking the kid’s family. I racked my brain but gave up midway. I reached for my pocket and pulled out a cigarette and a lighter. Took a nice big puff, enjoying the burn. The wind blew across my face. God what a nice day I had thought. Nothing wrong is happening and I can just stay here on top of the roof. But then I spoke too soon cause the sniper crouching down next to me voiced out “Sir, isn’t your wife going to get angry at you for smoking again?”
Ah shit this guy really just had to bring my wife into this. But it wasn’t just him the one behind us agreed with him. “Seriously, are you guys even on my side or my wife” I said grumbling while looking at them. All of them had a good laugh even the other snipers who heard it through the coms. It was a good time before all the snipers turned serious and the one next to me reported in “Sir, suspicious person is walking through the front of the subject. What’s the order?” ah shit every time. Something good happens and then leads to something bad. My assistant handed me a pair of binoculars so I can look for myself. It was just a young girl no older than 18 but she looks malnourished. I had a bad feeling about this. I set the binocular down, reluctantly I needed to act now. I cleared my throat “Soldier, give a call to the Colonel for permission.” It seems like he felt the seriousness of my voice because he didn’t hesitate for a second.
But if that wasn’t bad enough “Sir, the suspect just forced her way in.” bad news over bad news kept coming. Fuck me was all I could think of. This definitely did not seem good, and I will be in trouble too. Sarah wasn’t answering but I couldn’t wait around any longer. I took my last taste of cigarette before flicking it. “Stand down, I’ll handle it”
Surprised “Sir, are you going to jump down from here?”
“Got a faster way?”
POV: Hina
She surprised me when I saw her standing outside. Although my brother yelled at me this morning, I’m secretly glad he did because I didn’t feel like going to school. I just…went through he motion but I’m glad I was alone today because I continued mourning before he came back. I surprised seeing Jess, but thought that maybe it would be okay for her to come in. I needed someone to talk to, someone who wasn’t my brother. Out of nowhere, suddenly she pushed me. She had her hands wrapped around my throat. “It’s all because your brother. If I never associated with him my life would have fine.” Her eyes had a look of insanity it scared me. How did I never noticed it before? She sounded so angry. “Now he’ll know how I feel when he comes home to see his sister dead on the ground.” All of her words carried hate and hostility. She’s insane but I couldn’t do anything. I was slowly losing consciousness. Her grip tighten so quickly I had no way to react. My weapon was useless in this situation. Suddenly we heard a person clapped and her grip loosened. I looked up to see a person wearing military clothing. He was tall, medium short brown hair. He stood hands clasped together. I didn’t know any of these people, I was so scared another person showed up. What if he’s here to kill me too, god I miss my brother so much, where was he. Jessica violently shouted, “Who the fuck are you? Military? Arrest me or whatever, after this bitch gets what she deserves. Actually since you’re here help me she’s related to a demon we have to kill her now” I panicked and kicked her away. But this made angrier as she summoned her dagger. Frozen in place I placed my hands up. But before anything happened the military man grabbed her hand. She flails hard “Let me go. If you’re the military, you should know her brother is a demon.” I was scared because everyone says he is because of the incident, and everyone left us. I thought this man would too“Don’t care. My orders are to make sure she’s safe.” I was surprised by his answer. His face looked calm unlike the police commissioner.
She started laughing like a lunatic and resisted harder. “Ah geez come on I really don’t like hitting girls, worse if they’re underage. I’m a dad you know? But you leave me no choice.” He easily pulled Jessica as she continued to scream “No! I came to far, I was so close to killing her and ruined that monster’s life as he did mine.” In one motion the man threw her against the wall knocking her out. The loud bang frightened me as I let out a shriek. He walked closer as I saw this person’s face clearer. I was so scared. He’s strong, there’s nothing I could do. Fear paralyzed me as I put my hands up again. Tears coming down. I waited and waited but nothing happened. I carefully peeked with one eye and then the next. His had a sympathetic yet sad look on his face. This man’s eyes softened immediately, and I felt a sense of relieve when our eyes met. He walked closer before squatting down. He patted my head. His hands were rough and dry yet there was a sense of relief “Must have been scary kid. Sorry I’m not the best at this kind of stuff. I know I do this when my kids are scared so maybe this will bring some form of relief to you. My name is Theodore Sanders. You can call me Theo, my daughters calls me that sometimes. I don’t know what I can do to make you trust me but I’m going to visit your brother if you want to follow along”. As he extended a hand to invite me. But instead of grabbing his hand, I leaned in closer for a hug in exchange for my inability to talk. I’m most likely still in shock but I didn’t know if this man was telling the truth. But I knew if this is how it’s going to be then it’s best I disappear, at least then there will be one less thing for my brother to worry about. I grabbed the man’s hand and slowly walked out the front door “Ah right, let me see your face and fingernails” as he said turning around. He smiled as he looked up let’s get you treating first there’s ointment in the car that I give my daughter as well.” I felt a sense kindness from the way this man spoke. It…set me at ease

POV:Kazuki
I felt upset after hearing this story, Jess, never seemed like a person who would hurt another person, but she did. And it just had to be my sister. I covered my face as I cried holding back the agony in my chest. Everyone I care about gets hurt, my sister was almost murdered. Why, just why was it so wrong of me to awaken. Was it my fault? We were in the car for a while. Hina finally sleep. But after processing Mr. Sander’s story and what happened this morning with the kids, I needed to ask why everyone keeps calling me a monster, a demon and why my sister had to suffer for my mistake. Miss Blackwood and Mr. Sanders looked at each other uncomfortably. Hesitant to show me. “Are you sure you want to know?” Miss Blackwood asked concerned about my answer.
“Please, I need to know why this is happening to me. Why my sister was attacked because of me” I firmly pleaded.
“Well, knowing now would be better than later, Sanders, show the kid the video.” Mr. Sanders gave a somber look before nodding and handed me a digital pad.
During the first half of the video, I was surprised that I had actually wasn’t soulless but instead of being either the transformative or equipment type I was a mix of an elemental and equipment type. It was rare enough to be awakened like that but to be a dual type was the rarest kind. But my delight quickly turned into a nightmare as I learned exactly why I am feared by people. Right after I had knockout the red hair boy out, I burst into flame and discharge my fire in all direction. As an insignia appeared from the sky. From the video, I truly did look like a fire type demon with the insignia behind me for a second. As a human if, I can call myself that at all anymore. History taught us that an appearance of an insignia signals the coming of a mass demon invasion. Despair wrapped me over as I held back my tears once more. Now it all made sense why everyone happened to us. It was because me
I composed myself and asked, “What are the military going to do to us?” surprised, they looked at us both of before Sarah spoke “Don’t worry we are under strict order from the director to protect you and your sister and you won’t have to worry about being killed now or in the future even by us.” she reassured us
“Thank you, Colonel,” formally addressing her per her rank
“Please don’t, feel free to call me in a more comfortable way. You’re not in the military.” She motions towards her subordinate “You can do the same with him, just call him Mr. Sanders like you have been.” It was weird but I didn’t question it. For now, we are safe and that’s all that matters
After a while the cars stop as we stepped outside. I stood on one side and noticed the rest of the 4 people. I noticed from afar. They all looked about the same height. Two of them didn’t stand out much besides being foreigner. One wore glasses and kept a scowl expression. Another asian boy, with messy tied back hair. It was uncommon to see a guy with such long hair but I there was a sense of unease I got from him. The last one was serious big. He’s most definitely a foreigner, big shoulder, tall as a mountain but I didn’t feel intimidated by his size. But I remember Miss Sander’s said the person called Jin was an assassin, so most likely everyone here was dangerous for a reason. Even the girl. I pulled my sister closer not wanting her to leave my side this time
Miss Blackwood tied her hair up in a bun. Donning a pair of military gloves of the same color with a cross symbol on the backhand “Alright from this point my men should have informed you all, so I’ll take it that each of you will be coming.” Her tone changed suddenly. It wasn’t the soft-spoken warm smiling expression she had that I knew. Her words carry weight, her expression was deathly. “Excuse me” the long hair boy spoke
“Yang XiaoFei correct?”
“I followed but I never agree to follow strangers. Even if they know my father, I just don’t know you.” He had a merry way of speaking. It stood out especially in this moment He smiled the whole time almost mockingly.
“Well, I don’t care. But I recommend you don’t make an enemy out of Me.” she glared at us. The tension grew and I could feel most of us was about to fight among ourselves. The person called Zach was however unaffected and was asking Jin what was going on. Suddenly I noticed shadowy figure appeared behind Miss Blackwood, it was a titan class demon easily towering over her. I yelled to warn her, but she kept on speaking “Listen here kids, right now we’re outside the wall where a transport will be taking you to your new home” The demon striked down with such power the car was Miss Blackwood stood on was smashed, and the ground completely destroyed. I looked away covering Hina from looking at the sight. Besides just the two of us. Everyone here was mad was what I thought. I thought we were dead by coming outside the protection of the wall, I never noticed it since so much was going on. Out of the smoke I saw Miss Blackwood jumped high up before single handedly smashed the demons face in. a chill ran down my spine “Anybody who disobeys my order will end up like that demon.” She pointed“Lieutenant Sanders, you got 30 seconds before the plane arrives set up a perimeter now” “Understood Colonel” Mr. Sanders saluted
Everyone moved in one coherent unit as the sound of engine roaring from afar is loud and clear. The Lieutenant shouted out the command to clear the area. Me and my sister couldn’t even move until Lieutenant Sanders forcibly picked us up. “Everyone get your asses in the plane now! Colonel can I entrust you to take these kids ?”“Sure, Now move it Lieutenant”“Yes! Colonel!”. Everything was happening so fast I couldn’t process anything correctly but at least we managed to escape that death trap. “They’re in! let’s get the fuck out here!”.
She took a seat next to me. “Would you like some water?” she asked, her polite way of speaking returned “Yes, thank you” I responded still in a daze
“You should get some sleep you seem pretty tired. Besides we won’t arriving in a few more hours from now”. I was already starting to doubt my trust in her after what I saw…could I actually trust her?“Before that Miss Blackwood are you possibly an equipment type user?” she smiled ”Just focus on getting rest. Everything will reveal itself in due time. For the time being just concentrate on staying alive for your sister’s sake”. Her words sounded like an omen of something hellish is going to come but with all that happened I had no energy left to keep my eyes open any longer.
