They arrive at the SJA’s center, just outside Nicholas’s lab. As Remy reaches for the door, Mim stops.
"I’ll pass on this one," he says. "I need to file the investigation report."
Remy looks back at him and smirks. "yep, Just make sure you don’t get distracted by any episode notifications popping up on your phone."
Mim lets out a sarcastic laugh, his annoyance barely hidden, then walks away. Remy turns back to the lab door, pushes it open, and calls out nicholas's name
A penguin looking android, small and polite, waddles over to him. "Please, sir, lower your voice," it says. "Sir Endrias is sleeping and has requested not to be disturbed."
Remy gets awkward awkward. "Oh, sorry—didn’t know. Haven't seen you before. Are you one of Nicholas's androids?"
"Not exactly. Sir Nicholas created me, but I serve Sir Endrias specifically."
"Ah, got it." Remy nods. "So, where’s Nico?"
Just then, Nicholas himself appears from the back, out of nowhere. "I’M HERE! SORRY FOR NOT RESPONDING SOONER!"
Remy laughs. "No worries, Nico. What were you up to?"
Nicholas grins and cuts in, "I was in my corruption pod. I heard you, but couldn't exactly move until Amanda shut it off."
He notices the small android and smiles. "Hey, Fay! Good to see you."
The android responds, "Hello, Sir Nicholas."
Remy glances at Nicholas, puzzled. "Fay?"
"Yeah," Nicholas says cheerfully, "Endrias’s emotional support android."
"oh yeah...." Remy lightly spoke, then leans toward Solar, who’s standing beside him. "You know, I've been with SJA for almost two years, and I’ve never been inside this lab."
Solar gives him an awkward smile and nods.
"So, what do you guys need?" Nicholas asks, curious.
Remy turns through his fanny pack, with a smile on his face. "Found something I think you'll like." He pulls out the glowing ore they found and holds it up to Nicholas.
Nicholas’s jaw drops.
"Uh... Nicholas?"
"Oh... my... LORD."
Remy and Solar look at eachother, looking a bit unsettled.
"THIS IS INCREDIBLE, REMY! I’VE BEEN SEARCHING MY ENTIRE LIFE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS."
"Huh?" Remy says, surprised.
Nicholas looks at Solar, his expression intense. "SOLAR! DID YOU LIVE IN A CAVE OR SOMETHING?!"
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Solar, startled, shakes his head. "A cave? No... We found it in an abandoned house."
Nicholas looks even more amazed. "AN ABANDONED HOUSE? THAT'S EVEN BETTER!"
The android, Fay, chimes in, "Sir Nicholas, please refrain from yelling. Sir Endrias requires rest."
Nicholas quickly lowers his voice, nodding apologetically. "Right, sorry. But Solar, Remy... you don’t understand how incredible this is."
"Uh, yeah. We don’t," Remy says, scratching his head. "So… what’s so special about this ore?"
Nicholas eagerly takes the ore and heads toward a large machine with a tube. "This is one of the rarest ores known. If anyone else knew you had this, we’d be in serious trouble."
"It’s that rare?" Remy asks in doubt.
"Absolutely." Nicholas attaches sensors to the ore. "They say shards of this ore can communicate with each other even across distances. It’s like they have invisible antennas sending out signals to each other. You get it?"
"Nope." Remy shakes his head, while Solar looks even more confused.
Nicholas sighs. "Fine, I’ll explain it later. I have an idea for how this could help you two. Give me a little time."
Remy lets out a relieved sigh. "Good to know it’s nothing dangerous, at least."
"Oh, it was used to activate nuclear bombs faster back in the day," Nicholas adds with a cheeky smile.
"You’re not planning anything like that, right?"
Nicholas chuckles. "No, no. Blowing things up is Not my style." nicholas then realises "Actually, Solar, I’ve been meaning to ask you something."
Solar stands startled. "yeah?.."
Nicholas hesitates, then says, "I know you’ve probably been asked this before… but, what are you?"
Solar sighs and shrugs with an awkward smile. "I honestly don’t know."
Nicholas nods thoughtfully. "Actually, I’ve found something interesting. Something that might relate to you specifically."
Remy gets curious. "What is it?"
Nicholas gives a smile. "Hold on, it’s easier if I show you." He walks away into a side room, leaving Remy and Solar in suspense. Remy gives Solar a
"Now that he mentions it… you are something.."
Solar sighs "I don’t know where I’m from. I don’t know what I am. I don’t know anything."
Seeing Solar’s frustration, Remy smiles lightly at solar trying to encourage him. "You know, my mom used to say, ‘To find what you seek, you must first discover yourself.’ Or, something like that."
Nicholas reappears, overhearing. "Actually, the saying goes, ‘Before you chase your biggest dreams, take time to discover who you are and what makes you special.’ Self-understanding is the first step."
. "Yeah, that’s the one. Just couldn’t remember all the words. Oh, Nico—did you find what you were looking for?"
Nicholas holds up a small glass tube filled with a golden liquid. Remy looks at it, confused. "Uh… what’s that?"
"Blood," Nicholas says.
"Blood? Gold blood?"
Nicholas nods. "Specifically, Solar’s."
Solar stares at the tube silently confused
Nicholas raises an eyebrow. "Simple—I know my androids wouldn’t mess with samples."
Remy gives him a skeptical look, so Nicholas pulls out a small pocket knife. He gently takes Solar’s arm and cut their skin. Solar flinches, pulling back as golden blood wells up.
Nicholas smiles, "See? Proof."
Remy shakes his head, looking annoyed. "You didn’t need to cut them to prove a point."
Nicholas grins. "I think it was worth it. Anyway, I’ve got three pieces of evidence now that provet Solar might be a celestial."
"Why the sudden interest in whether they’re a celestial?" Remy asks.
Nicholas shrugs. "No particular reason. Just enjoy figuring things out."
Remy rolls his eyes, smiling. "Right. Well, I think we’re all set here?"
Nicholas nods, thanking them again for the rare ore. Remy and Solar step out of the lab, closing the door behind them. Remy turns to Solar.
"Hey, Solar, I’m calling it a night. My legs are killing me," Remy says, stretching his neck.
Solar looks nervous. "B-but what should I do?"
Remy thinks; "Just… whatever you like. Just stay out of trouble. Kiyo’s around if you need anything; he’s doing an interrogation tonight."
Solar nods, still a bit uneasy.
Remy smiles and waves. "See you tomorrow, Solar. Get some rest."
As Remy heads out, Solar finds themselves alone in the SJA’s bustling reception area. They watch the staff and visitors walking about, lost in thought. Nicholas’s words echo in their mind as they stand still, clenching their fists, wondering about who they are and what they might one day find.
