' silent suspicion' ch23

“Please. Don’t lie.”

“I—I don’t know anything, I promise!” Solar stammered, but Liz’s creepy look made him doubt his own words.

----------------------------------------------------------------

“At least... What's your full name?”

Solar pauses with a suspicious look in his eyes as he remembers that day at the SJA.

“I... I don't know exactly, but I think... Solarphel Archon?”

Liz's expression turns shocked, turning away as if lost in thought.

“Is that bad...?” Solar asks slowly

“No, no... How are you here? Where is Archon?” Liz said with concern and confusion.

“I don't know?! And I don't know who Archon is..”

Liz stares at him in disbelief “How do you not know who Archon is?!”

“Well, you see, I—” Solar gets interrupted

“They created you,” Liz yells and continues “They... they created me, too!”

Solar gets really puzzled “Huh...?” he mutters, still processing. Liz takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself.

“... just a moment,” Liz says, sitting down on the bed. Solar sits beside him, with guilt and confusion.

“I’m sorry... I don't know anything about Archon... I forgot everything, ... I don't remember anything that happened before I fell from the sky. That’s all i remember,” Solar says, his voice soft, but with a bit of suspicion.

Liz turns away and then slowly says, “You forgot everything...?”

Solar nods nervously

Liz's hands fidget, as he looks down at the floor. “I... I was the first of Archon’s creations, other than the rock sculptures... They raised me. They told me everything... our time together was... warm,” Liz says, his voice slow as if he's remembering something painful.

Solar watches Liz closely. “And then? Why are you here?”

Liz hesitates before speaking “I had a dream... A dream about a field of roses... on fire.” he pauses “I saw myself in front of a dead body.. that looks like archon, not sure what to do. That dream haunts me every time I close my eyes. I thought there was something I was supposed to understand, so I left archon, thinking i wouldn't see that sight.” lasty liz sighs " i regret that.."

Solar still unsure whether to believe Liz. “So you came here because of that dream?” he asks, his suspicion growing

Liz uncomfortably says; “I didn’t mean to sound so dramatic... I just... I thought that if i left them, i would avoid it. I came to this planet, and now... I don't even know what to do. Not even here.”

Solar looks at Liz for a moment, then softly and slowly says, “I’m sorry for whatever you're going through, but...” solar pauses and continues, “I don’t understand any of it. I don’t understand why I’m even here, or what Archon has to do with any of this.”

Liz chuckles awkwardly, trying to change the mood. “its alright..Pretty awkward, right?”

Solar manages a small smile. “um..Yeah, it’s... strange.”

“Well, it's getting late. How about you go back home and sleep, maybe ill be able to explain everything later..” liz says but realises

“Wait, do you even have a home?”

Solar hesitates, unsure of how to answer. “Actually... I stay at the SJA.”

“The SJA?!” Liz's eyes wided. “Their beds are really uncomfortable.. How do you sleep in those?”

Solar blinks, confused. “Sleep?” unsure what Liz means.

Liz sighs but then he smiles warmly. “You can stay here for a few days. I'll teach you everything about human life. You need it.” he says it with such certainty, and Solar feels full of doubt. Something doesn’t sit right, but he isn’t sure what.

Solar laughs nervously. “no no.. it's fine, really. I don’t want to be a burden." while he stands up from the bed.

Liz cuts him off. “Shhh. Consider it a brother for a brother. We’re siblings now... I think? um..”

Solar blinks in surprise but finally says, “I-I guess? but still no need-”

“Good!” Liz says with a smile, “Alright, go take a bath. I’ll find you some clean clothes, hopefully, they fit.” he says while he walks to the wardrobe.

Solar looks around, “um.. bath?”

Liz looks back at solar with realisation; " oh right.. uhm ill help you take a bath- this will be awkward but.. let's get this over with.."

The whole process feels off, though, and Solar feels more like a stranger in Liz’s world. Liz leads him to the bathroom, and after some awkward moments, they return to the room. Liz sets up a mattress next to his bed, and Solar stands by the door, still unsure about everything.

“Alright, finally done! Just lay on the bed and sleep. You know how?” Liz asks, not noticing Solar’s hesitation.

Solar stays silent, his eyes locked on Liz. “I... I’m not sure how to sleep.”

Liz sighs “Just close your eyes and think about anything, and unconsciously you'll sleep- that's how i do it-.” and continues " 1 minute,

ill be right back, i need to wish goodnight for lisa and unc falco too" as he leaves the room.

" o-okay.." solar hesitates.

...

Solar closes his eyes, trying, but nothing comes. The silence is heavy, and then he hears the door open briefly before it shuts again.

“I’m back, Solar. Did you sleep?” Liz’s voice is soft, almost too soft.

“No…” Solar replies quietly.

Liz’s voice returns to normal, and she stretches in bed. “Alright, finally. I can relax.” She faces Solar, his smile warm, but Solar can’t shake the feeling that something’s wrong. “How was your day?”

“Um... okay, I guess. Still confused.” Solar’s eyes narrow slightly.

Liz nods. “It’s normal... for you. Don’t worry, you’ll find answers. Tomorrow, I’ll show you some fun things, Keep yourself busy.. learn about humans.. all that stuff.

Solar nods slowly, but his mind is puzzled, “Thanks... But I have to ask... How do you know we’re... related?”

Liz raises an eyebrow. “Hm?”

Solar hesitates, his voice quiet. “I don’t know you, but... you seem to know a lot about me. How?”

Liz doesn’t answer immediately, but then he says, “I noticed your halo... It’s exactly like Archon’s. Your hair is unnaturally long.. You’re not from here.”

Solar’s eyes widen. “R-really?”

Liz shrugs, clearly unaware of Solar’s growing suspicion. “Yeah, I’ll help you with your hair tomorrow, so it doesn’t get in the way.”

Solar’s nods “Sure... of course. Liz, right?”

Liz smiles. “Actually, call me Ymir. That’s my real name.”

“Ymir?” Solar repeats, his mind struggling to make sense of this.

“Yeah,” Ymir says casually, “It’s the name Archon gave me. I wasn’t sure if I should keep it, but... someone called me ‘Liz,’ so I just stuck with that.” Ymir laughs softly.

Solar stares, his unease growing. “I... I see. So... what now?”

Ymir chuckles. “Now we sleep. It’s late.”

Solar gives a small nod, but as Ymir gets comfortable, Solar’s eyes stay open. Something about this whole situation doesn’t add up. But for now, he can only wait and observe.

“Goodnight, Solar. Sweet dreams,” Ymir says, turning over.

“Goodnight..?” Solar replies confused what it means, his mind too restless to sleep, unsure of what tomorrow might bring.
