CAELI DACIA

Sprites believe in the First Wind, a female goddess who gave birth to the world and her children (the Caeli Dacia). She placed/places people where they should be in social standing, physical home, and family. Family and the position of one’s family is the second most important to their beliefs and one is not to leave their family, or risk disgracing them. The caelidacia are a matriarchy and have a queen with monarch butterfly wings declaring her station, regardless of blood family. The monarch and her family are brought up to the top tier of the caste system. The First Wind has 3 names; Mother, Carrier, and Spiritus. To have stunted wing growth or wings too small to fly with is seen as a disability that drops the family down in rank within their caste. To break one’s wings, even in an accident, is seen as the First Wind taking her blessings away and disowning the sprite whose wings are broken.

A Secondary religion, often only practiced in secret, is almost the same. The First Wind is a female goddess who gave birth to the world and her children (the Caeli Dacia). She placed/places people where they should be in order to grow as people. She raises her children to be independent and to guide storms and protect others. The First Wind has 3 names; Mother, Carrier, and Spiritus. Those born with defects are so because the winds simply did not favor them and First Wind could not change what the world’s winds had done.

DRAGONS AVIARY

Dragons believe in the circle of life and the elementals. Animals and other creatures who eat meat will hunt, and when they are done, their dung and the carcassas will be made into siol to support new growth. New growth will be eaten by herbivores and omnivores, and be replaced in fecal matter and corpses. All do as they must to survive, and how they grow shapes who they are. The Elementals made the world this way, and this way it had to stay. The Elementals created one race each, and then two together. The two made with all four were Dragons and Humans. The four elementals are Water, Earth, Fire, and Air.

GLADE AND SHAY

There are three Major religions shared between the three.

Moon’s Soul

Once, before there were humans, the moon was as large and bright as the sun, but with a blue glow. Below it, the moon watched as animals came to life under the sun’s light. For thousands of years, the moon did not care, and simply watched the animals to alleviate its boredom. Then, the first humans began to grow, catching the moon’s attention with how quickly they grew and learned. Watching the humans of old, the moon felt a mixture of sadness and joy. Joy for how the humans were growing on their own. Sadness for the way that they had no souls, as the sun, moon stars, and other celestial bodies did. Without a soul, nothing they did would be permanent. Finally, the moon had enough of watching the humans grow to no purpose and die as though worthless. The moon scooped up all the new infants that had come in the day, and gave each of them a piece of its soul. When it did, the babies open their eyes, and there was a light there like no other the moon had ever seen. From then on, the moon has given each infant ever born, day or night, a piece of its soul. The sun tells it each night, that this is what the stars had done for countless others. Red stars were all that was left of the body that made dragons permanent. Yellow stars were the same for sprites. Darker blues had given kyrill life. The invisible black stars had given flits and goblins life and souls. The moon says to the sun each night, that it was worth the loss. Whenever a human dies, their soul goes back to the moon, to be put into another human later, until humans have souls at birth, and the moon can become a star, feeling it worthy of the effort.

Light and Spirit

You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.

Light was born first, then Spirit. They are siblings, born from the darkness that was the end of something old and the beginning of something new. Light had purpose at birth, as the firstborn. Light was to shine and guide anything and anyone that could see her. Spirit however, had no purpose until beings with dim inner light came to his sister, ever slowly. He Began guiding them to his sister showing them where to go and tell them all about how amazing she was, giving new light to those who came to her. Then, he had an idea. It was the way back then, for only the Light and Spirit to feel love, happiness, purpose, anger, sorrow, and manythings that they could not name. Spirit decided his purpose was to give others these things. He spoke to his sister, who was wary and uncertain in her brother’s plan, but willing to help him follow his purpose. Spirit made himself into a brighter light than his sister for a few moments, and drew all beings to him who had dim light within. He asked each of them to walk through him, then to his sister. For each that walked through Spirit and to Light, new things happened. Worlds, stars, suns, moons, plants, animals, and new beings sprung to life. They had purpose now, they had emotion, no need to wander once they found where they needed to be to fulfill the purpose they carried within. When they would die, their children or newcomers would take over as they went back to Spirit and Light to begin anew. Now, each time a newly dim light comes to them, Spirit has them walk through him to get to his sister, and feels content.

Sun and Life

The sun was alone when it became fully formed and mature. There was debris of course, as a result of others being born and dying. But, the sun had no siblings as had happened before. So, it began playing with the debris, changing the pieces, moving them, making them bigger, making them smaller, wondering what it would be like to have others around. Eventually, the sun found itself in the middle of stardust, debris, and curiosity. The sun decided to give some of its warmth to the star dust, and see what happened. What happened was a burst of light and life coming to exist with the sun. The sun in its joy, to this day, beams with a never-failing smile. Even when old life ends, it is joyful, for new life comes to replace it. Now the sun is not alone, and never will be, for when the sun goes out, so will the rest of the life that came from it.

HIPPOSE

The water is ruthless, passionate, and motherly, all in one. Water, like fire and earth, give life. But water is a far harsher parent, ensuring that those that make it to adulthood and longer are strong, independent, kind, and passionate. Feel and work with the tide as it comes, find ways to solve problems that do not involve destruction. Only take life if it prolongs yours.

IGNIS

The Elementals made humans and dragons of all four elements. Then, each elemental made their own creatures. The First Flame aka the Fire Elemental made Flits to be made of life. The fire that they are though, can be dangerous, and must be used and given carefully. First Flame wills that the flits spread their life without destroying, as it had. The Fire Elemental set the task to the flits to shine their light when it is dark, so in fall and winter, when there are fewer hours of light, they will hold lantern festivals, to make and send lanterns near and far, to show that there is still light. One festival for each month until the day is longer than the night.

KELLAR

The world and its people must all be allowed to grow. One must nurture growth in themselves and others in order to have a full life. When one dies, they go back into the earth that, upon the arrival of the Elementals, began growing life, plants and animals. There is no purpose to life beyond helping others grow.

TOLOC

Tolocians believe in the deities Tiger, Bear, Hawk, and Veldren. Tiger is a deity of familial bonds and land ownership. Bear is a deity of love, harvest. food, drink, and manners. Hawk is a deity of knowledge, creativity, and war. Veldren is the deity of patience, war, order, and trade. Veldren made himself and the other three. All things that exist were made by Veldren but he gave his children charge over things once he became bored with them. All four deities are honored through blood sacrifices and altars of prayer. One sacrifices and prays to Tiger at dawn. Then at each meal, they pray to Bear, setting aside blood and wine in small goblets for him. Hawk is honored at dusk. Veldren is honored once every fortnight, for a full day. Everything is set aside, including worship of the others.
