Luna's POV
We got news that a Class-S Lucid Dream had been created. These Class categories were actually just recently added. My dad, the creator of the Dream App and a Class-A raider, decided to add these categorizations to lower the death rate of Lucid Surfers. Once the dream was classified, the app automatically restricts entry to everyone who had a lower class than the dream. And even the raiders who had the same class as the dream were recommended to have a company of at least five people who had a class rank at least one rank lower than the dream's rank.
Well, dreams like those were worth the risk. They dropped a WHOLE dream coin! Last time that I was in a Class-B raid, I only got a 1/4 Dream Coin.
After hearing the news, Mr. Woo-Jin , a friend of my dad, contacted me through the dream app and asked if I was interested in raiding the dream. For someone like me who ranked Class-A to raid Class-S dreams, someone from Class-S raiders needed to invite me and form a party before entering.
I asked him if my dad knew about it. I said that I would gladly join him if he could persuade my father. He hung up the phone after saying, "That's all? Get ready then, we'll raid the dream tomorrow."
I got up and changed into a workout outfit. I decided to do cardio today so that I will be in great shape for tomorrow.
Dream Coins were nice, but that was not the reason why I also decided to be a Dream Raider. We, dream raiders, stops the Lucid creatures from coming down to earth. Even a Class-E Lucid creature could kill at least a whole village if left alone.
There were many instances like this that had happened way before modern civilization came to light. Dragons, Big foot, aliens and other mythical creatures were examples of Lucid Creatures who had managed to get out from the Lucid World, a dimension where Lucid creatures resides. It was located in between the 2-Dimension plane and the 3-Dimension plane, a 2.5-Dimension plane. When a person slept and dreamed, their consciousness was transported to the Lucid World. This was the reason why dreams sometimes felt real. The realer a dream became, the closer it was to being a Lucid Dream and if Lucid Surfers didn't raid the dream, everything within that dream would come out to the real world to wreak havoc.
The next day came and I was preparing everything I needed. I put on a ninja outfit that had an +Agility attribute to maximize our speed. I equipped my light sword and was waiting for Mr. Woo-Jin to contact me. After a minute of wait, I received a notification on my phone and it said, "Lucid Surfer
Because of our costumes that blended well with the room's color, I could barely see the team not too far from where I was summoned. We formed a circle and discussed things to avoid and should not do while in the dream. When entering a Lucid Dream, you also risked your life because besides from the owner of the dream, everyone who entered would die in real life if they died in the raid. The reason was that when raiding, your physical body was transported directly to the dream. That's why Mr. Woo-Jin specially required all of the Dream Raiders to have +Agility attribute in their armor so they could escape if something wrong happened.
After the discussion, Mr. Woo-Jin who's on the lead, opened the door and entered. What greeted us was a wide grassfield and a beautiful night sky.
"Is this really a Class-S dream? It's too peaceful here. Haha Luna! You should tell your father to debug his app, it's very faulty." one in my group said. He was Kim Kwang-Hoo, my cousin, a Class-A raider like myself and he was also trained for this since he was young.
"Shut up, squarehead." I replied, mocking his head.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
"Hey, you-!" Kwang-Hoo tried to curse me but Mr. Woo-Jin interrupted him.
"You two. We're in a Class-S dream. No matter how peaceful it looks like, don't let your guard down. We don't know what enemy is hiding in the darkness." Mr. Woo-Jin said with a serious tone. His way of speaking was still that of a military and it was even more reason why no one could go against him.
Suddenly, a bright light with a huge explosion happened far from where we were.
"Everyone, move discreetly. Do not break formation." Mr. Woo-Jin commanded and we started running towards the source of the explosion.
After arriving at the scene, we saw a half-body corpse that looked like it belonged to an ogre. Although it only had lower body, this was the biggest ogre I had ever seen.
"What on earth happened here...?" Kwang-Hoo muttered.
I looked around and saw two figures in the distance. It looked like they were the cause of this.
I ran to them while holding the handle of my sword on my waist. As I got closer, the two figures became more visible and I was shocked to see who I had seen.
"Oppa....? Aren't you supposed to be a beginner? Why are you here?" I asked the man who looked like he had been beaten to death by a hundred people. Why was this person here? Was he the owner of this dream? I looked at the person beside him and was surprised to see a child.
The most probable scenario here was that the child was the owner and that man had entered this dream. Tsk, he was so reckless! Didn't he know that he might die in here because of what he did? Ahh! Yes, he didn't knew because he was a newbie. Luckily he had managed to survive.
He greeted me with a relief look on his face. "Ah! Miss Luna, you're here. What are you doing here?" he asked as he walked towards me.
We talked for a while and I explained to him why we were here.
"By the way, did you two kill that Ogre?" I asked them in a serious tone. We needed to write a report about this raid and once the higher-ups found out that someone else had cleared the dream, they would probably throw a fit at us.
"Yes! Ryu killed it by himself!" the child beside him exclaimed. He looked proud of Ryu's accomplishment. But did I hear him right? Did Ryu really kill it by himself? That was almost impossible, even for Woo-Jin Ahjussi!
Everyone in the team seemed to overhear our conversation and they all looked at Ryu with surprise.
After hearing this, Woo-Jin Ahjussi came forward and introduced himself to Ryu, "Did you really manage to kill the Ogre by yourself?" He also added and shook hands with Ryu, "I'm Jeon Woo-Jin. A Class-S raider. I'm the captain of this group." Mister looked rather happy than surprised. Although his face said otherwise, his eyes said it all. I looked at Ryu and waited for a response.
"Ah...Yes, I killed it by luck. I used the Dream Coin to stab its eye, but the coin suddenly exploded and killed the Ogre." Ryu answered to Mister's question.
WHAT?! Dream Coins were indestructible! You could never leave a scratch on them, let alone make them explode!
I looked at Mr. Woo-Jin. He also looked at me, surprised. Ha....I was expecting an answer from him, but it looked like even Mister didn't know how that happened. I needed to ask my dad about this later.
I noticed that the sky started to dissolve. It was about time to leave this dream. I had a lot of questions for him. But I thought I needed to quench my curiosity and ask later.
"Could we talk later? There's something we want to talk to you about. For now, we should get out of here. This dream seems about to end." I said and pointed at the sky. Ryu looked at it and realized what I was talking about. I was about to join my team when Ryu grabbed my shoulder and asked, "How do we get out of here again?" I accidentally let out a laugh. I was caught off guard. I couldn't believe that someone who had managed to defeat a Class-S Lucid creature wouldn't know how to exit a dream.
I gave him a short explanation and we bid our farewell. I regrouped with the team and they all looked gloomy for some reason. Kwang-Hoo seemed irritated and the other three were feeling down.
Well, I couldn't blame them. I was surprised at this too. But it looked like Mr. Woo-Jin was happy and excited for some reason. He clapped his hands and said, "Alright, gather up everyone! The dream was cleared and unfortunately we didn't get any dream coin. But as a commission fee from the Association, each of you would get a quarter of Dream Coin. " He handed each of us a quarter of the Dream Coin. I took it and thanked him. He then turned to me and said, "Luna, I have a favor to ask you. Could you introduce me to your friend, Ryu? He seems to have a special talent for lucid dreaming. I want to recruit him to the Association and train him to become a Class-S raider. What do you say?"
I hesitated, not sure what to say. On one hand, I wanted to help Ryu and let him join a team of experienced and friendly lucid surfers. On the other hand, I was worried about the dangers and risks that he would face in the Lucid World.
I looked at Mr. Woo-Jin, who was waiting for my answer. I looked at the Dream Coin in my hand, which was shining brightly. I looked at the dissolving sky, which was fading away. I thought of Ryu, who was probably waking up in his bed, unaware of the changes that had happened to him. I thought of the Lucid World, which was full of wonders and horrors. I thought of the Lucid Creatures, which were trying to break into the real world. I thought of my dad, who was the creator of the Dream App and the leader of the Association of Lucid Surfers.
I took a deep breath and made a decision. I said, "Okay, I'll introduce you to him. But that doesn't mean he'll say Yes. He's still a beginner and he doesn't know much about the Lucid World. Do you understand?"
Mr. Woo-Jin nodded. He said, "Of course, I understand. I'll treat him well and teach him everything I know. He'll be safe and happy with us. Trust me, Luna. You're doing the right thing. He has a great potential and he can make a difference in the Lucid World."
I'm sorry Ryu, I couldn't refused Mr. Woo-Jin. Haha, your life about to turn upside down, SUPER ROOKIE.
