Chapter 48: The Impassible Blizzard!

Chapter 48: The Impassible Blizzard!

As her aura began to settle down and retract, Aella wrapped her arm in Mana before punching forward with all her force, the wind guiding her attack. A small shockwave followed soon after, and a sharp pain flew through her arm right after that.

Grabbing her arm and groaning, Aella ignored the pain her attack caused her and looked at her arm in amazement before opening her newly leveled-up [Whirlwind Maestra] skill.

“SS grade?” Aella said aloud, pressing yes for the bonus information.

Although creating a shockwave from physical prowess and Mana wasn’t particularly difficult when two opposing forces were flying at each other due to Mana being very volatile, the same couldn’t be said when there was only 1 factor.

Aella’s attack dealing a small amount of damage to her was proof enough that it shouldn’t be plausible for her body to do such a thing, and that wasn’t even her full power. If she were to strike as hard as she could, it’d break her entire arm.

“What the hell is [Armor of Reverence] and [Dominion of Elements]?” Aella mused.

The other three skills were the abilities she had been using this entire, but they all went up by a grade; her wind even made the SS grade! Curiously, she looked into the two new abilities the Aetherstream had gained.

“The fuck?”

Those were the only words that could escape her mouth due to the sheer lunacy she was reading. [Armor of Reverence] was lovely. It’d surely become one of her primary abilities alongside its sister skill, but [Dominion of Elements] shouldn’t exist in Aella’s opinion.

Whenever you have an affinity for a particular element, your resistance to that element goes up with your strength; that is common sense in the universe, which makes the first effect a little situational, but that also applies to its second application.

The ability to gain any elemental affinity. Since Aella didn’t know how it classified an element as depending on where you’re from, that could mean fire, water, ice, rock, etc, but it could also encompass concepts like time and space. Regardless of which it was, Aella now had the means of obtaining near immunities to several types of very common or very dangerous magics down the line.

“So much for wondering how I’d go about getting stronger.” She sarcastically scoffed as the system just made all of her worries pointless.

Even if this alone wasn’t enough, it would certainly help. She just needed to figure out a way to keep these abilities if something happened to the system or it decided to betray her. After all, something this powerful is definitely tied to divinity somehow.

After taking a few moments to regain her wits, Aella let out a final deep breath and opened her eyes, the landscape around her only growing in beauty as time passed. Low growls of animals could be heard nearby, curious to see what the commotion was about but terrified of getting to close.

Wolves, Hares, and even Bears all looked on in harmony, causing her to chuckle.

“You needn’t worry, cuties. I mean you no harm.” She said, her voice soft and caring as she prepared to leave.

Activating her newly acquired [Armor of Reverence], a singular turquoise gemstone began adorning her hair, covering her entire body with a thin but potent layer of Mana. Further reinforcing her body, Aella let out a small chuckle at how indestructible her body felt right now while flying through the air.

She could genuinely fly since she left the Abyss Nest if she used Sylpheed. Still, now, with her increase in stats and her enlightenment, she was capable of flying without any of that active. With her newly evolved [Whirlwind Maestra], she could do it indefinitely if no other spell was active.

“WOOOO!” She cheered with ecstasy. Never in her long life has she imagined that she’d regain the ability to truly control the skies less than a decade after her rebirth. This would be one of the few moments where she was genuinely happy, even if she was sure it’d be damped once she met with the two supposed Gods she was flying toward.

As she grew closer to the center of this tiny world, blizzards began coming in at an unpredictable pace, and they proliferated. With her newfound stats, maneuvering through them wasn’t an issue until a massive shockwave flew at her, sending her nearly a kilometer back.

Landing in the deep snow, Aella blinked a few times as she processed what just happened to her before she got back up.

Another shockwave went off. And then another. A 4th made itself known as well.

‘A battle? Are the two people I’m trying to make allies with actively trying to kill each other? Oh, the system really is trying to fuck with me.’

Although Aella was slightly annoyed, she couldn’t say she was upset. The two prior trials were far too easy for her to have fun with them, so she wasn’t adverse to this one being a little more complex.

“Verse 2. {Sylpheed’s Cry!}”

This time, Aella properly reinforced herself and summoned Sylpheed before returning to the skies. Nature itself was going against her. The shockwaves tried they best to blast her backwards and when they succeeded she only returned faster, the blizzards continued to grow in intensity, buffeting her constantly trying to stop her movement but it was to no avail.

Even the torrenting winds tried to go against her, although they did little more than make her feel refreshed.

“Hmph!” With a single swipe of her fan, a gust of wind so powerful blew through the blizzard that it failed to reach her for several dozen seconds. She took the chance to continue moving forward, clearing the path whenever necessary, but it only became more difficult.

After reaching the halfway point toward her destination, she was greeted by a massive block of ice being pelted at her with speed that even she failed to adequately react to it the first time, once again sending her back into the snow, several kilometers back.

As annoying as it seemed, this arduous back and forth was quite fun for Aella. The block of ice was too big for her wind to blow away, so she’d need to avoid it while creating a path through the blizzard without losing her focus and being shot down by the shockwaves.

This was it! A real test! One that wouldn’t end with her dancing for a bit or punching a few birds.
