“About a 98.50% chance, yes I know, I did the calculations. I already died once, though. Do you really think I fear dying twice? Whether you’re an actual living being or some AI, you can call my bluff. I could be lying if you don’t have information regarding Sylph past her 4th Verse. Up to you to figure that out.”

Dismissing [Sylpheed’s Whisper] and continuing to regain some of her Mana and Health, Aella patiently waited with an innocent smile. She wanted to take the Gale Birds back to Earth. Creating an Aetherstream for a nonhumanoid was difficult, but she could do it, and their ability to adapt was unmatched. If she did manage to bring them back, she would just be able to have three little murder machines that nobody could realistically stop without wasting far too many resources for it to be worth it, and to say she was pissed off that her request was denied, she wasn’t letting it go quickly.
She already had the [Seed of the World Tree], and because of that, her words were lies. She had over a 50% chance of surviving such a feat, but she would no doubt be crippled for the next who knows how many years. If she was lucky, perhaps half a century, but if she wasn’t, upwards of a millennia wasn’t all that far-fetched.
Still, she was curious about how the System would react if she were willing to risk a nearly guaranteed demise to get what she wanted.

‘Perhaps I shouldn’t jump so high into the air next time. As funny as dying because of a fall sounds, I think my ancestors would never let my soul go if they saw that…’

“So I’m gonna get my murder birds, right?” Aella asked, her expression perking up with expectation.
|
“I wouldn’t be particularly averse to a meteor destroying Earth as long as you get caught in the crossfire.” Aella irritatedly clicked her tongue.
|<... As long as you agree to skip the rest of the [Trial of Combat] and lock yourself out of any further Trials until level 50, 75, and 100, respectively, you will be granted a semi-random extra skill.>|
Humming in thought, Aella eventually decided that this compromise was acceptable… For now. She could always find some of these “Murder Birds” in an Abyss Nest somewhere. On the other hand, she didn’t understand how skills worked or how the System even decided to give them, so having a larger sample size to experiment with couldn’t be a bad thing.
“What do you mean Semi-randomly? Do I get to choose what it does, and you give me a random grade?” She asked, smiling maliciously.
|
Mildly disappointed, Aella sighed and finally gave in, standing up and idly walking around the Gale Wings while deciding.
They had already woken up at this point, Aella knew, but it was amusing seeing them too scared to attack her after all that enthusiasm they had shown earlier. All they could do now was play dead.
“An Alchemy ability. I was planning to start once I find more herbs, but oh well.”

Letting out a small chuckle as she opened her status to check her new Skill, Aella nodded. “Oh, how pissed off would you be if I just didn’t.”

“Oh? My first B-rank Skill, and it’s really good, too. Alright, you live to see another day. A pleasure doing business with you!” Aella clapped happily, beginning to walk away from the birds.
Eastern Alchemy, the discipline of creating pellets or pills that give off unique effects, usually at the cost of severe side effects. And Western Alchemy, the discipline of creating potions known for their potent recovery abilities and not much else.
It was rare to see someone who understood both, much less knew how to do both. Those who live long enough aren’t alchemists and have better things to do with their time and those who are alchemists… Are alchemist, rarely did they cultivate long enough to extend their life.
Aella was one of those rare few. Primarily because she was trying the most effective way to poison a god, but the reason wasn’t very important. What was important was the fact that she had one more way to overturn the economy if her Aetherstream idea somehow failed.
Seeing that Aella was leaving them alone, the Gale Wings looked at each other, concluding that they should get revenge while she was looking! The moment any of their hostility reached Aella’s senses, three thin blades of wind fell from the sky, decapitating the three birds.
“Using wind against me and expected to live. Foolish, foolish.”

Rolling her eyes, Aella gave the command to return her home as she prepared to restrain any mana fluctuations that might happen. Even if it shouldn’t be different than the last two times, the System dragged her to god knows where; she didn’t want to risk waking up the children for no reason.

Returning gently to the bed, which she had been meditating on prior to the trials, Aella glanced at her phone, an expression of shock appearing across her face.
‘9:42… It’s only been a couple of minutes? I was in the trials for at least an hour… Such extreme time dilation capabilities. And to think the System can be upgraded further? What does that even mean? I’m growing more and more curious about the creator of this thing.’ Aella mused inwardly.
Alas, she figured hints would come to her in due time. She needed to check in on the [Will of the World] sooner or later, and that would probably give her some lead if nothing else did. Still, that could wait. She still didn’t trust meeting with such an entity without the ability to defend herself if she could avoid it.
And now that she had no reason to cultivate for the time being, only one thing was left to do… Sleep…
