CHAPTER 786 MY TREAT
"How much is it?" Sinclair took out his bank card and said to Maximilian disdainfully, "Your poor
bastard, I'll pay for the bills today which you wouldn't be able to afford for the rest of your life."
"That's 10 million in all." The waitress slowly quoted the price and added the gift wine.
"What? I beg your pardon?" Sinclair's hand trembled so hard that he dropped the card on the ground.
His face turned pale when he heard the price.
10 million? This was his company's five-year profit in total. He would have to to save for decades for
that much money.
He had already made an estimate, and no matter how expensive it was, it could not be 10 million. He
wondered if he had heard it wrong.
Everyone was stunned, but they kept on complementing him, "Sinclair is so generous. He just spent 10
million yuan on us! I want to ride his coattails!"
Cold sweats kept leaking out of Sinclair's forehead because he didn't have enough money. He wouldn't
have that much money even if he sold his car immediately. What was worse was that his father's
company hadn't made a good profit recently.
If he told his father about this, the angry old man might instantly renounce him.
"10 million? That's a bit too much. It's reasonable," Sinclair felt weird and checked the menu.
When he finished checking, he finally understood why it was so expensive. They had counted those
wine in. He thought they were free gifts.
"That's... I though the wine was free. Why are you charging for it?" He couldn't help asking.
Other people didn't know what was happening, either. They looked at him with suspicion and couldn't
believe the wine wasn't free. They thought the owner of this place send the wine to Sinclair for free
because he was an VIP.
"Because, you offended the VIP, which made Mr. Davies really unhappy. He decided not to give you
that for free," the waitress answered faithfully.
"Are you kidding? I've stayed in this chamber for the whole time. I don't remember I've offended any Material © .
VIP." Sinclair said with a wry smile.
He thought he was the most respected person in this room, and there were no other VIPs here; and if
there was one, it should be Maximilian or Carmen.
He excluded the two from his list because he knew neither of them would be that close to Connor.
"I've seen it anyway," the waitress said with a cold face.
Sinclair suddenly felt frightened. He said, "You're forcing me to buy it. I won't let you... I need to speak
to your boss."
"That would be Mr. Davies. You are welcomed to talk to him any time you want."
Sinclair immediately chickened out. The waitress just said he had made Connor upset. He would be
dead if he brought this up to Connor again.
He might be stupid, but he wouldn't be that stupid. If Connor really wanted to give him a hard time, he
would have no choice but to accept it, because he couldn't afford to offend a bigwig like that.
Connor could kill him easily and secretly.
"Then why didn't you tell us just now? We wouldn't have opened it then." Gardener complained. He had
already begun to regret it.
"You did it too fast. I didn't have the time."
Sinclair was speechless. Now he was really considering where he could get the 10 million yuan.
"Well... I may need some time. Look, we haven't finished eating now." Sinclair coughed.
The waitress was back to the door with a walkie-talkie in her hand. Once Sinclair wanted to leave
without paying the bill, she would call the security guards downstairs immediately.
Sinclair returned Hercules his seat nervously. Serena, who was sitting next to Sinclair, said, "What are
we waiting for? Can't we just leave?"
Serena thought 10 million was a drop in the bucket for Sinclair. She didn't know that all he had was a
few million now.
"Shut up." Sinclair was very upset. He looked up and said, "I've got other things to do today, everybody.
I think we'll have to split the bills."
Everyone froze, and then their faces changed. They knew the coward was letting them take the
responsibility.
"Sinclair, you said it was on you today." One of his fellows asked.
Sinclair replied calmly, "I regret it now. I don't think you would let me be the fool to pay that much, so
please, let's split the bills. 5 million from you will be enough."
Other people in the room looked at each other, realizing that Sinclair didn't have that much money.
The waitress said again, "I'll call the security if you don't pay the bills in ten minutes."
Sinclair wiped the cold sweats on his forehead. He wouldn't dare to dine and dash in Connor's place.
So he scolded, "Get your money together, you fools, or all of us will be screwed."
It was only then that those people that they were in serious trouble. They tried very hard and could only
raise 2 million.
Sinclair patted his forehead and took a look at Maximilian and Carmen. Then he sneered, "One million
from each of you, now!"
"Sinclair, I thought you said it would be one you today! Why are you letting us go Dutch?" Maximilian
smiled meaningfully.
Sinclair's blood pressure rose immediately when he heard that.
Carmen panicked because his mother was in hospital now. He would rather die than waste that much
money.
"What? Don't tell me you don't have a penny." Sinclair was still so mean when he was in serious
trouble.
Maximilian stood up and said, "Why bother? I'll pay the bills for all of us today."
"What? What did you say?"
All the people in the room were stunned. Some of them picked their ears subconsciously because they
thought they misheard. This must be the biggest joke that they had ever heard.
They all looked at Maximilian with a contemptuous smile, wondering how come the man had the
courage to make that commitment.
Sinclair cried with laughter, and said contemptuously, "Don't be ridiculous. How can you pay that
much? You can sell yourself as a slave but you're still worth way less."
Serena also sneered, "Bragging is the only thing that you're good at, isn't it?"
Carmen didn't know what Maximilian was doing. There might be something wrong with the guy's brain.
Now he regretted having borrowed money from him.
"Maximilian, maybe you should save the money and go to see a doctor." Carmen almost felt guilty for
taking the money.
Maximilian patted Carmen's head and asked, "What's are you thinking? Don't you trust me?"
"We'd like to trust you, but you have to show how much you have in your pocket first," Sinclair laughed.
"Yes, bragging! Is that what you're doing for a living! No wonder you don't have a job!" Everyone in the
room laughed.
"You can take my card," Maximilian walked to the waitress and said.
"Sir, Mr. Davies has already told us not to charge you a cent as long as you're going to pay for the bill."
The waitress immediately looked respectful. If she took the card, Connor would definitely punish her.
Sinclair and the others froze and their facial muscles were twitching. Their laughter died out die down
all of a sudden.
