Races:
The first group is the “Spirits” group. This group consists of Sprites, Fairies, Dryads and other elemental races/offshoots. Spirits are the first races to manifest consciousness on the planet and are most in tune with the world's nature. Spirit races master Aura/Nature Power with much ease, especially in comparison to most other races. As the original sentient lifeform on this planet, and being so closely in tune with its elements, they can breed with all other races (but do so on an individual basis).
The second group is the “Elven” group. The group consists of more than just elves. Dwarves and Halflings are also related to elves and therefore fall under this category. This category can also breed with all other races. As the second group of sentient beings to inhabit this world they also tend to find strong affinities and easy mastery in pursuit of their Elemental/ Aura Powers.
The next two groups came into existence in seeming opposition to one another. They are the only two races that have not successfully created offspring. Not that many have tried. The first of the two is the “Brute” races. They evolved from monsters becoming smarter and eventually developing consciousness to both hunt and fend off predators (Infighting between Brute races helped build mental evolution). The second being Humans. Humans (according to texts from ancient elven and spirit races) seemed to appear out of nowhere. Suddenly small groups of these creatures started popping up in the world. These creatures were weak physically as a general population with certain strong individuals. However, as a group, they collectively were far smarter than the Brute races. Though not nearly as wise as the Spirit and Elven races as they did not have the same connection to the world’s nature. Without this connection, humans have to train very hard to master their Aura and their elemental prowess. Likewise Brute races don’t have strong affinities for Aura/Elemental Power control/combat. As their name entails they have physical strength & stamina and rely on brute force to solve most problems. Occasionally smarter individuals emerge from their ranks who quickly rise to power and help groups evolve and grow stronger.
The final group consists of two similar types of creatures with specific differences. Demi-Humans and Beastmen as their name implies have both animal and human-like characteristics and are a culmination of mixing races throughout the world. Some spirit races became very fond of their animal familiars to the point they either merged or bred and in turn mixed with Elven and Human races. Demi-Humans and Beastmen can be found in all corners of the planet. As they have ancestors among all races they can still breed with all races. The distinct differences between the two races begin with appearances. Demis (Demi-Humans) tend to have more human-like features and less animalistic ones. Animal physical features usually only manifest in the form of ears, tails and extra hair/fur (in some cases facial features can be different too). Beastmen tend to have more animalistic characteristics, while still humanoid walking upright and human-like muscle structure, their bodies tend to represent their animal ancestors with fur, scales, feathers, or tough hide. Beastmen's bodies, despite their variations, are strong and muscular both male and female. Reptilian Beastmen have hard thick scaly skin while more mammal-like Beastmen have thick fur and tougher skin than an average beast. Avian Beastmen like birds have hollow bones making them more fragile than other Beastmen but striking the leg of an avian Beastman is like striking a steel (or stronger metal) pole. The variations of Demi-humans and Beastmen seem to be endless. However, you can easily predict offspring based on parentage as the variation is limited to the parents' genetics. For example, if the Demi-human’s parents are both a Dog-like Demi and a Racoon-like Demi then the offspring will either be Dog-like or Racoon-like. On very rare occasions, you can get a mixed Dog/Racoon breed or even a farther removed ancestor's traits. The breeding for Beastmen is similar. However, when you start breeding Demis and Beastmen with Spirit and Elven races you can get many different results as the spirit and elven races will unlock hidden racial abilities in the Demi-human/Beastmen lineage. Unless there is recent lineage with Spirit or Elven groups (within 2-3 generations) most Demis and Beastmen struggle with mastering Aura like humans and the Brute races.

Common Racial Combinations & Civilizations:
Humans: Cities & Towns. Humans tend to keep to themselves and their territories tend to contain an +80% of humans in them. Common races that are allowed in and to mix breeds with are Elves and Demi-humans. Demi-humans are often looked at as less than human and closer to beasts or Beastmen who humans fear. Elves are either held in high esteem or with low regard depending on the human while Dwarves and Halflings are looked at with indifference even though they share ancestry with Elves. Because of this the treatment of mixed breed humans varies and can have beneficial or negative repercussions.
Elves & Halflings: Forest Kingdoms & Villages. Elves do not discern between races unless the other races pass judgment or behave irrationally first. Because of this Elves tend to avoid Brute and Human races. Peaceful and enlightened humans and brutes are always welcomed. Enlightened Brutes are very rare and because of this Brutes tend to be natural enemies to most conscious races including each other.
Dwarves: Mountain Fortresses & Mines. Dwarves originated in ground base homes. As their civilizations grew they build massive mine paths through the mountains and lands of the world. Master crafters and builders the dwarves built massive cities under mountains to rival their elven counterparts and their forest kingdoms.
Spirit Races have colonized and kept to themselves in what can be known as Strong Elemental Regions. These areas can be difficult to travel and live in unless you have an affinity for the given element. These kinds of areas lean towards Spirit race inhabitants as they have the easiest time living in them. When other races breed with Spirit races their offspring will often inherit the elemental abilities especially when raised in a Strong Elemental Region.
Brutes: Brutes live in wild tribe based societies. Might makes right and the strongest usually rules each clan. Rarely an individual will be smarter and want to do things differently than the rest of their tribe. They tend to get shunned or killed by a stronger member of the tribe. If they can become leader of the tribe they almost always lead that tribe to rule over their entire area. More often they are driven out. By other races, they are referred to as enlightened brutes and have been accepted by other races on account of how differently they think compared to standard brutes.
