Jordan drifted off into the darkness, as if the ground turned to water, sinking to the bottom of the abyss. When he opened his eyes, he noticed the blurry images of Hilary and Stanley above until the picture became distorted and grew smaller the further Jordan descended.
Jordan couldn’t breathe, but at the same time, didn’t feel like he suffocated either. Jordan tried to think about what to do and how he got into this predicament in the first place.
Just then, a soft voice called out to Jordan from out of nowhere.
“Jordan, you need to wake up.” He tried to open his mouth but couldn’t make out the words or have it move. All he could say was what was on his mind.
“I’m awake; I’m pretty sure.”
“No, you need to wake up from all of this. Otherwise, you and your friends will cease to exist.”
“What? But how?”
“Melody is planning on messing up all timelines, and you’re the only one who can help me.” The voice continued.
“Really?” Jordan could hear the conversation between the two, even though his mouth didn’t move, but could think up the thoughts instead. “But who are you?”
“Sorry, but I can’t go into much detail, especially with the predicament you got in—”
.-.-.-.
Jordan shot awake as the voice had disappeared before it could finish the sentence. Jordan looked around and found himself in his dorm room in his bed. He glanced at the door, where the knob moved, and fidgeted as black goo crept out of the entrance. The walls opened all around him as the ceiling crumbled apart and the bed flew into the air, with Jordan clutching on and hanging on for dear life.
Pieces of the building fell and nearly hit the bed. The bed spun around as Jordan lost his footing and jumped off, falling and hitting the floor, which broke apart and turned into a dark void. He fell and screamed until he hit an invisible ground and came to his senses. The surrounding area was now pitched dark; a shiver fell down his spine as he felt helpless.
Soon, a form of light appeared in his view. Bubbles with evil purple auras showed up, floating helplessly and showing messages in each of them.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
“I wish I was rich.” “I want vengeance on my boss; I want him to suffer.” “I hope to become powerful and rule the world.” Etc. Etc.
The messages had wishes individually, each one worse than the last. Were they from the Wish App? Jordan’s eyes widened as he tried to get away, but he couldn’t find a way out. Jordan bent down and covered his eyes and ears, trying to ignore all the thoughts from scooping their way into his head.
Jordan shook his head, refusing to give in and prove Melody right. But how could he hold back when he found himself surrounded by all the selfish messages used for the Wish App? Maybe people in the world are—
Pop! A white light obscured the view, as Jordan looked up, amidst the darkness, a single white bubble with another message inside. This time, it appeared to be different, selfless even. Soon, more selfless wishes came out, eventually overpowering all the selfish desires that occurred before.
“I hope mom gets better from her sickness.” “I wish for world peace.” “I want my beloved to have a safe trip out by the sea.” Etc. Etc.
Jordan’s smile grew wider upon reading them at once, seeing that there are selfless people out there who have used the Wish App for its intended purpose.
“I can see it now,” Jordan said. “But how is this all happening?”
“It’s the wishes; they gave me powers.” Another voice popped up and told him. “Strong enough to surpass Melody and her negative energy.”
It’s that voice again. Jordan thought.
“You have a friend to thank.” The voice added.
Jordan looked over as the portal opened, and Stanley and Hilary appeared from outside to greet him.
“Guys, did you remember, after all?”
“Of course.” The voice echoed.
“It was my idea, after all.” Stanley replied. “After the help of the voice, bringing us back our memories, I thought up the idea to send over the wishes to you.”
“We needed to bring you back to reality,” Hilary added. “We’re sorry we didn’t realize and heed your warnings after everything—”
“It’s fine; you didn’t know at the time.” Jordan defended.
“Hey, what’s going on? What happened here?” A familiar and different voice questioned.
The group turned and spotted Melody standing there from a distance. She clenched her fists as her icy glare focused on Jordan. “You...” She muttered with a sneer.
“Oh no, it’s not safe here!” The softer voice exclaimed.
As Melody stormed over closer to the trio, Stanley, Hilary, and Jordan stepped away, unsure of what to do now, as there was nowhere to hide or run.
“Hang on tight; I’ll pull you three out of there!” The voice continued. The group huddled together and shut their eyes tight.
Soon, a beam zoomed down to take the group out of there before Melody could catch up to them.
