The lighting from the moon revealed the figure to be Melody.
"Well, well, well..." Melody started, spreading a mischievous smile on her face. "Look who we have here."
Hilary's eyes widened as memories sparked in her head upon seeing her. "Melody, is that you?”
"So, you finally showed up." Jordan looked and glared at her.
"What's going on here?" Stanley questioned, clutching his chest and trying to steady his heartbeat.
"Seems like I left you to do stuff by yourselves when I shouldn't have," Melody said, ignoring Stanley's question. She glanced at Jordan and glared at him right back. "Also, I'm disappointed in you, Jordan."
"Me? Why me?" Jordan pointed at himself.
"What did he ever do to you to deserve such awful treatment?" Hilary asked.
"Whatever do you mean?" Melody chuckled under her breath. "Jordan's my puppet, isn’t that obvious?"
"Puppet, what are you talking about—?"
Jordan fell to his knees and let out a bloodcurdling scream, covering his head with his arms. "No, NO!"
Hilary and Stanley turned to Jordan in worry. "Jordan, what's wrong?!"
"I remember everything, including what she's done to me in the past," Jordan muttered. His voice raised higher. "Please don't kill me!"
Melody held her breath, trying to contain her laughter. Hilary and Stanley glared at her upon hearing it. "What have you done to him?" They both asked. "What are you going to—?"
"What is wrong with you, Hilary?" Melody inquired, as her voice sounded more desperate. "I just wanted you to be happy."
"Happy?" Hilary repeated. "How can I?"
"After I heard that you had feelings for Stanley in the past, and I couldn't believe what happened." Melody looked away, trying to hold back the tears forming in her eyes. "When I knew what you were into, what your type was..." She shook her head. “Of all people, why him? You deserved better than someone who’s wimpy and spineless.”
"So, correct me if I'm wrong," Stanley informed, stepping forward. "You used the wish app to create a clone that looked like me but is a 'better person than me' in your eyes. Then, have this person attempt to convince him to make Hilary fall for him instead of me. Did I miss anything? Am I correct?"
"Yes, you are." Melody nodded.
"Stop this cycle at once!" Hilary pleaded, clasping her hands.
"Not until we agree," Melody replied. "Isn't that right, dear friend?"
Hilary clenched her fist and tried to keep her chin up. "Melody." She started. "Don't do this anymore. Can't we just—?"
"No!" Melody snapped. "Why can't I get what I want? I try to copy others to get people to like me, but it still doesn't work! Why is that?”
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"I think I know why," Stanley replied. "Karma, your repercussions." He explained. "You're just afraid of using your true colors, so you make a shell outside to manipulate others. The 'me' in the past probably knew about the darkness in your heart and wouldn't go out with someone like you. And I sure as heck would never date, much less hang out with someone who treats other people like trash!"
Everyone stayed silent upon hearing that. After a short while, Jordan broke the silence.
"Stanley, what are you doing? Don't you understand what she can do? She could—"
"Maybe not." Stanley interrupted. "But this isn't right, and I know I have no right in saying this, but..." He looked into Melody's eyes. "You need to move on with your life and not rely on magic to try and make things go your way." He glanced at Hilary. "Isn't that right?"
"Yeah." Hilary nodded in agreement.
"No," Melody muttered, grinding her teeth. "You're wrong. You're all wrong!" She thundered. "Do you think you guys could change me so easily? You snot-nosed brats!" A purple aura formed around her eyes as she cast it out from her palms, heading toward Jordan.
"No, look out!" Stanley ran over to push him out of the way and take the shot for him.
Stanley screeched as he collapsed to the ground, clutching his stomach, and having a dark pulsating aura around his body.
"Stanley!" Hilary and Jordan cried as they rushed over to his side. "Are you alright?"
"I... I don’t think so..." Stanley replied weakly.
"What were you thinking? Why did you do that?" Hilary cried.
Stanley coughed up bits of blood before responding. "I... well..."
Jordan felt pain in the back of his neck and spat out some blood of his own. His body froze.
"Aw, what a shame," Melody whined in a mocking tone. "Poor guy’s going to die real soon. Guess I'll need to go back in time again to fix that." She turned and created a portal from behind her. She then turned back to the others with a mischievous smile. "Oh, and by the way, I'll also be taking this." Melody reached into her pockets and pulled out a pink journal book.
Hilary's eyes widened upon seeing the familiar object at her old friend’s disposal. "My diary! Where did you get that book?"
"No, she couldn't have stolen it from right under us, could she?" Jordan wondered.
"Don't go..." Stanley gasped, writhing in pain.
"Don't worry Jordan, if you're wondering, I can handle this myself from now on, without your help." Melody boasted. "If I do need some help, then I know where to find someone, I'll make more allies for myself. Goodbye and good riddance." She curtseyed, turned, and headed toward the portal.
Jordan's blood boiled and clenched his fists. He couldn’t think straight and didn’t want to let her get away, risking their present and future selves getting destroyed. He charged after Melody and tackled her, hurling them both inside the portal, leaving Hilary and Stanley alone, wondering what to do now.
.-.-.-.
Melody and Jordan fought with one another as they flew off into the warp. Tons of aqua windows floated around them as the two fell inside an aquarium exhibit, and the outside had technological cubes surrounding them both.
"What do you think you're doing?" Melody asked.
"I'm so sick and tired of being your mindless, soulless, brainless PUPPET!" Jordan exclaimed.
Melody threw Jordan out of the designated path and knocked him through the outside area. Jordan landed on an invisible podium. He got up and rubbed his head. Looking around and realizing that the place seemed different from the last time he traveled back in time. The aqua blocks floated and displayed images and videos of scenarios involving real-life circumstances; some of them had Stanley and Hilary in them.
"Where are we? What's going on?" Jordan questioned.
"You should've thought straight before pushing me, you idiot!" Melody retorted from a distance.
Jordan looked over at Melody, who peeked through the tubes. "How far do you intend on going back? And why are you doing this?"
"You're the last person I want to tell that to!" Melody jumped off the tube and chased after Jordan, chasing him down throughout the area.
When the coast was clear, Jordan leaped and flew into one of the boxes, disappearing from her sights altogether and entering a different place and at a different time.
