Chapter 2. Super Attributes

[Time Skip]

It's been... A month? I'm not really sure. I'm seated on a rock inside a dark cave on the island about to recite my mental journal once more. I started doing this inorder to ensure that I retained my sanity after everything that's been going in this past month.

Deep breaths...

Long sigh.

(Narration)

My name is Wan Juan, and I'm twenty years old. I used to work for a software developer back in New York before my life took the greatest turn of the century.

In one minute, I was about to cross a street, but in the next, I found myself waking up in strange place. On further investigation, however, I found out what place I had found myself in.

First, I walked from the bedroom and into a corridor that led down to a couple of stairs. It was in those staircase steps that I found the mysterious coin that largely dictated my survival chances.

Walking further down the steps, I came into an open space that was mostly empty and looked abandoned, but not archaic. The room had windows on the far end, opposite of where I had come from, with a subtle wind blowing gently into the room through them.

This building had a touch of modernity to it despite it's dusty and unkempt nature. That was unlike the buildings I had seen through the balcony. Those building resembled something from ancient Egypt, or Greek, or something similar. Basically, not modern. Not with their golden colours anyway.

The wind blowing outside sounded welcoming and I endeavored for it to blow on my skin. Thus, I walked towards a structure that looked like the door.

Little did I know about the perplexed group of women taking their positions around the unfamiliar building, ready to capture the unsuspecting man inside.

I opened the paper-like door that led into the eccentric environment of Themyscira, and step outside, looking as casual as ever. The wind blowing outside was even better than I had anticipated. It was gentle and cool, and it had this refreshing effect on my hot body that I hadn't realized had been burning up the entire time.

But my leisurely endeavor was instantly cut shot by a sudden disruption in the air that made me bend my neck lightly and with an agility I didn't know I possessed. This new development was then followed by a sharp sensation on my left cheek. On touching it, I saw a red substance sticking to my fingers.

Ding!

I then heard a ringing sound in my ears, and almost simultaneously, I saw a blue window appear in front of me with a notification written in a simple font.

I didn't exactly get it then, but I understood what it meant later. The blue window before me allowed me to see my progress and measure my attributes, and the ringing sound announced the reception of a new notification.

But in that moment, I didn't have the time to digest all that, as another fast movement caught my eye and I swerved again, this time successful evading the arrow.

I had stepped out into a strange place and the first thing that happened to me was an attack by someone I couldn't see. But what was even stranger was my surprising new ability at perceiving the arrows and successfully escaping them.

I was both excited and worried at the same time before multiple arrows came towards me from opposite directions.

My newly acquired instincts kicked in and I moved like a cat, dodging most of them. I felt a seething pain in my biceps and shoulders and scanned my body only to see a total of three arrows stuck in my body.

While the pain was excruciating, my body still felt like it had just experienced a splinter wound that didn't mean much. It only felt like a bother, but I resisted the urge to pull the arrows out, worried that blood would come gushing out.

Ding!

The same blue window had appeared once again and I read the notification. I was starting to get the hang of this, but I wanted to know who my assailants were, and why I was being attacked.

"Make another move and the next arrow I shoot will tear your artery." I heard a strong, powerful, commanding voice threaten from behind me and turned to look around with my hands up.

My eyes caught the sight of two women dressed in gold-stripped armor: a war-skirt and breastplate, with an outdated helmet on top for the head.

They both had a a sheathed sword strapped to their waist, and had their bows both loaded with an arrow, ready to shoot again.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

Staring at them put me in a really strange position. On one hand, I couldn't help but admire the angels right in front of me, threatening to kill me. I didn't have a problem with being roughed up by such a gorgeous duo however much they liked, but I already had three arrows planted in my body.

The words "Amazon Warrior" from the blue screen rang in my mind and I couldn't help but wonder if the impossible had actually happened.

Was I in Themyscira?

I wished that I could continue telling myself that that was just fiction, but the purple light and the blue screen disproved of so. And, the fact that there were two arrows on my shoulder and one in my bicep.

The Amazon Warriors were a group of warrior women that had long ago separated from man's world, and I understood that me appearing in such a place could only have spooked them.

Hidden away from the sight of men, Themyscira was an island in which they lived, and where Wonder Woman came from.

Judging from their hesitation to shoot a next arrow, I knew that they intended to capture me, instead of killing me. Then they would take me to the Queen where I would be subjected to the harshest of judgements.

But that was better than being chased around by a bunch of trained warriors who knew every inch of the island well, so I decided to remain in surrender mode and accept capture.

"I surrender." I said, still with my hands above my head.

The two ladies in front of me started approaching slowly, still with their guard up. They had the worst premonition about what being a man meant, and they only saw me as the onset of an impending war.

Just as they took a few steps forward, I felt a sharp pain in my left leg instantly as something tore through my tissues.

"Grrrhhhhh!" I groaned in pain, nearly bending a knee.

Ding!

Someone had shot an arrow from behind me and pierced my artery, causing me so much agonizing pain and almost halving my HP.

What was with this women!

Hadn't I surrender?

Maybe it was a bad idea after all.

"Why did you do that?" One of the warriors before me reprimanded the actions of the woman behind me. "He had surrendered!"

"You can't be too sure." The female who had shot me from behind justified her actions. "The Queen always tells us that men are cunning. You shouldn't have let your guard down."

"Now we can easily capture him since he can't run away or fight with a bursted artery." She added with cruelty in her voice.

"I meant it when I surrendered!" I gritted my teeth, my right hand caressing the bicep area of my leg.

But my mind was made up anyway. There was no point in surrendering if they were still going to attack me.

With that in mind, I made a run for it, hoping that I could escape past the building right to my left (opposite from the one I had come from). I turned quickly and headed towards the building.

Ding!

The blue screen disrupted my vision temporarily, but I made out the features of the dome-shaped, gold coloured building. I headed towards one of the pillars as a series of arrows followed me, hoping that I could grab it and use it to jump to the top, then fall to God-knows-where.

I leapt as a soon as I neared the pillar and jumped towards it with as much strength as I could gather. My bicep felt a considerable toll on this, but this was a life or death situation.

Ding!

This time, my stats weren't coming full as before because of the burst artery in my leg that had halved my HP.

But my jump was still extraordinary, and I didn't even need the pillar as I thought. I jumped only to find myself soaring close to the top where I extended my hand and grabbed the edge, using it to lift myself up.

A couple more arrows were still shooting at me, but I managed to race through the top and jump into the grasp of a nearby tree. But I didn't stop there.

I knew that it wouldn't be long before the entire Themyscira scouted the entire island in search of the only man in the island.
