DMT - Chapter 4 - Part 4 of 11

According to Adam’s newest interpretation of The Petal of Resolution and The Petal of Form, aka Spirit and Body, aka his Shroud, and something Adam had yet to name representing his Body, Skills/Petal Combos ranging from number one to number twenty-four had to do with establishing one's domain of influence before one could manipulate the world around one by giving it world the spirituality it needs to be anything but innate Materia-Elements.

That being the case, the Skills/Petal Combos ranging from ninety-six to hundred and twenty had to be about its opposite, namely manifesting something from nothing into the world around one to achieve one's goals, as was directly apparent the very first time Adam utilized the Skill/Petal Combo number hundred and twenty by manifesting the Bloodline within him and giving its spirituality a physicality through which to manipulate the Materia-Elements present within the world.

After all, all Bloodlines were spiritual in nature, or Magical as it would have been had Adam been born in some other Realm.

Naturally, this manifestation process was not a True Manifestation where Something came from Nothing occurring within the Chaos Sea.

Either way, that was what Adam interpreted from his recent epiphany.

Since that was the case, Skills/Petal Combos forty-eight to seventy-two became the middle child where, theoretically speaking, manipulation and manifestation appeared at the same time, yet neither failed to reach their possible extremes.

What were those extremes exactly? Adam would find out with time, practice, and further development of his Methodology and Essence Mastery.

Before that point in time, though, Skill/Petal Combos number forty-eight to seventy-two were the options for his upcoming guile attempt centered around The Petal of Change, or Aura itself, which manifested through the intertwining of the spiritual, aka the Spirit, with the physical already present in the form of a Kyrilian Field all living beings possessed in some shape or form.

Further narrowing it down, Adam’s Aural Density and Aural Integrity parameters were irrelevant as long as an Aura existed for the incoming interaction. Additionally, he did not have much need for the Aural Potential and Aural Capacity of his Aura. However, what he needed was adequate Aural Flow and Aural Resistance modifiers on top of impressive Aural Assimilation and Aural Influence joining with the maximally allowed Aural Tolerances and Aural Resonance modifiers.

It was thanks to these parameters that narrowed down Adam’s choice for the proper Skill/Petal Combo he needed, hopefully.

Skill/Petal Combo 67 - Resolution of Change - Through Form, Function, and Purpose

Naturally, Adam, being in unfamiliar territory, took this step by step.

The Petal of Resolve unfolded and manifested his Spirit, his Shroud.

In the moment of its manifestation, Adam had the choice of externalizing or internalizing said Shroud. In this case, Adam chose to internalize, thus establishing an ethereal space/territory within him.

There and yet not there at his very choosing.

Similar to staking one's territory upon a plot of land.

However, when Adam distinctly refused to automatically manifest his Mindscape in said territory by refusing to allow his Mind to unfold just yet, a strain emerged within Adam’s existence, urging him to choose the next unfolding.

The strain emerged mostly from unfamiliarity, hence, Adam indulged the urge to unfold again.

The Petal of Form unfolded and integrated itself with the Shroud inside Adam.

Almost instantly, the strain receded, yet refused to leave.

Also, there was no actual official or unofficial name for what Adam unfolded and integrated with the ethereal space. Nevertheless, since he knew what it was for, Adam simply shaped the ethereal space to take the shape of his physical form and its insides.

Thus defining the limits of the ethereal space within him to manifest a Shroud Body, though it was pure barebones, hence the need for further unfolding to fill that empty space.

The Petal of Function unfolded and opened up the floodgates for Essence to rush, fill, nourish, and prepare the no longer empty space for what was to come.

Thanks to Essence, the strain all but evaporated from Adam’s existence.

The Petal of Purpose unfolded and declared its presence now that Adam’s Mind no longer needed to work through the physical proxy that was the brain. Instead, his Mind directly influenced and assimilated his Shroud, his as-of-yet unnamed shaper, and his Essence.

When it did, Adam’s control factor multiplied over that internal ethereal space, aka his Shroud Body. Accordingly, everything started behaving like a well-oiled machine, just itching to bend to Adam’s will.

After reigning in everything, only one unfolding remained.

The Petal of Change unfolded to change, integrate, and fortify every other Petal like a body finally finding its backbone, flesh, veins, and nerves to hold everything that came before it.

However, regardless of those actions, it was at this point that the true power of the fifth unfolding emerged because the fifth unfolding represented a qualitative transformation where the end result replaced everything that came before it.

In an instant, the Shroud was gone. The as-of-yet unnamed shaper, Essence, and the equally unnamed controller behind the scene followed suit.

In their place, all that was left was Aura. And all that existed within Adam was Aura. As both the physical and spiritual sides blended perfectly into one seemingless phenomenon. Just like it had happened with his Shroud before, and would happen with Essence and the as-of-yet unnamed versions of his Mind and the Body, every time he utilized a Skill/Petal Combo targeting said Petals of his Existence.

Sensing and cataloging the sensations delivered to his awareness, Adam once again wondered what and how he had accomplished this marvel because, obviously, this was not what he had initially planned for his Methodology.

No… All Adam wanted was the ability to use his Essence in a similar fashion to Magic. Thus, why he included the Five Basic Magical Principles, the Ten Parameters of SpellCraft, and the Pentastar/Pentagon Ritual Pattern through which to utilize the mentioned Principles and Parameters.

Hence, whatever and however he had done it, Adam now possessed a wondrous piece of hidden and unique knowledge on top of their obvious advantages.

Naturally, having been busy organizing and streamlining the improved Methodology, and even after organizing and streamlining, parts still existed that Adam had trouble understanding as he lacked the underlying theory behind them. Therefore, Adam only realized the true depth of the uniqueness of his Methodology after the fight with the rat/cat Monster, hence why he renamed his Spirit into Shroud and why his First Grandmastery became the Grandmastery of the Shroud.

Thanks to that redesignation and subtle change, Adam now could notice the differences between his Shroud, his Essence, and his Aura and the two as-of-yet unnamed forces representing the Mind and the Body.

Tossing aside the terminology and the uniqueness of his Methodology, Adam dived through the information delivered through his Aura to his attention.

It was overwhelmingly staggering, at first, with the amount of information flooding his awareness. From how his body functioned to its current physical status and ailments, only both were pinging for his immediate attention around his chest, abdomen, and left shoulder.

Even his head asked for said attention, making Adam realize that his recent fight had concussed his brain a few times, such that while it was working, it was, however, underperforming.

“Ha… No wonder I forgot about the Monster so easily.” Adam chuckled for an instant. Then, with curiosity, Adam tried to concentrate his Aura in those areas and demand it be fixed.

What transpired next was rapid Aura consumption as it resonated and influenced the concussed areas of the head. “Mmm… Rapid might be a bit too strong of a word to describe the speed compared to Magic Healing. At least I can speed it up.”

Setting aside the healing as it was not life-threatening, Adam focused on all the other information flooding through his awareness after dealing with the urgent pings of his injuries.

The very first understanding reaching Adam about this internal Aural Awareness was that his insides were messy. Very messy, in fact, as if the random clutter inside him had never been indexed before, which, in truth, had not been.

Sensing the apparent Chaos directly sent Adam into an organizing frenzy because he simply would not allow such clutter to exist inside him.

Without even realizing the progress of Time, Adam organized and streamlined everything he could get his little mental hands-on. At the same time, he established a kind of order on what was to be prioritized when notifying him regarding his physical, mental, and emotional conditions.

Only after the organizing frenzy released its hold on him and a satisfied smile reached his lips had Adam remembered why he had even unfolded his current Petal Combo. As such, after a bit more experimentation, things clicked in his Mind, and a totally new and colorful outlook of his body reached him.

Precisely speaking, Adam managed to connect the incoming internal Aural Awareness into his hindbrain that was related to processing light, thus giving his Mind the ability to translate and synergize the Aural readings of his insides into a color template, thereby allowing him to perceive each and every nook and cranny of his body with colors as if he were made of just colors.

Which Adam realized might not have been that wrong of an interpretation in his current state.

That done, Adam pondered for a moment to understand what color occupied what space and which color represented which organ and processes it oversaw.

Though, similar to everything before, there was no sense of order at first glance because the colors mingled with one another and shifted every single moment throughout his body. It was the worst around his torso, where the majority of the organs resided, with seemingly every color of the rainbow seeking to express its presence.

Just looking at the mess caused Adam to spawn another revolt against the Chaos inside him.

Here, however, he was more clueless.

At first glance, no… even before that, Adam knew that the colors inside him had very little to do with the elemental bias that often resulted in every Magic User radiating a certain color within their Aura.

Even his head had three colors, well, two and a half since blue, light blue, and purple mingled with each other. Luckily, in this case, he was a bit more informed from the first day of his Awakening when he'd managed to calm down his Mind and Aura before calling for the Bloodline and the Sea of Pure Potential it held.

As such, Adam was rather sure that blue was related to placid emotions like calm, serene, peaceful, tranquil, collected, etc.

Mentally nodding in agreement with his own conjecture, Adam suddenly noticed the blue color inside his brain shift as if it attained some form of cognition from his understanding. Not much else changed, though. But Adam was confident that if his conjecture was correct, he would have a much easier time achieving any trance-like effects.

Still, the purple and the light blue colors were beyond him for the moment. Neither did he desire to spend that much time trying it right now. Instead, Adam opened his golden eyes and stared at the artificial Dungeon before him, spewing out a lot of red hues, only visible through his Aural Sight.

Additionally, since the current Skill/Petal Combo targeted his Aura, with maximized benefit towards control and understanding, the red color seemed to deepen its depth and mystery even further.

“Probably won't work, but let's give it a try first.” That said, Adam once more stepped forward and touched the red portal.

Again, he poured his Aura inside it, and again, he received a reply.

This time, though?

This time, it was different.

Remarkably different, in fact, because there was no reply.

Instead, Adam felt a ripple-like sensation transfer over his arm and right into his body. Then, it rippled a few times throughout his body for a few moments before eventually returning through the same arm and back into the portal.

Only then did he receive a reply, naturally not in words but through mental impressions.

“...”

“What in the Heavens…” Adam shouted while stunned and stupefied for a second. Then remembering, he quickly took his hand away from the spherical portal.

.

.

.

“Take a deep breath, Adamu… Take a… Wait… Take a deep breath, Adam. Yes, Take a deep breath and exhale everything away.”

Speaking and following his own advice, Adam took a few deep breaths and exhaled before recovering his intellect to process what just happened. Still, it took him a few moments to get the right idea, and the more he thought about it, the more it made sense.

“Causality?... Aspect of Time and Fate?...” Adam voiced out, hoping a nebulous reply would reach from out of nowhere. He even looked around for a moment, but nothing strange came. “Alright. Alright, Adam. No need to panic. No matter how strange it seems now, my future self will deal with it.”

Taking another deep breath and then exhaling it, Adam focused on the spherical portal before him.

“So… My little excursion into the past does not end with just a quick dip to fix the loop? Why?” Adam pondered when the answer reached him. “Ah… It's a reminder of the present and a warning for the future!”

Nodding at the conclusion, Adam stopped there. Nonetheless, there was a third conclusion that stayed stuck in his head. He simply refused to voice it out, as it dealt with Aspects and the possible existence of the First of the First of Men.

“Phu… Ok. Ok. It's obvious. I am not needed here anymore. I should take my leave.” Saying nothing else, Adam simply made his way back up the rat/cat den, though now that he knew about its treasure, maybe it needed a new name.

Regardless, the trek back to the surface was a lonely one since Adam had already killed everything inside the rat/cat den.

Probably.

This caused Adam’s Mind to be occupied by other things. Like the obvious failure to find the proper official terminology for his Methodology or the fact that just naming and practicing something was not enough to attain its Mastery.

I wonder if constant usage will spawn the Secondary Petal… Mastery Petal, on its own. Nodding at the terminology. Adam continued pondering. Or is there more to it?

No obvious answer sprung forth, but one thing was clear to Adam.

It was time for him to leave for the South again.

The journey back to his Sanctuary was, while easy and without any trouble, long and arduous because he had failed to ascend in time before the Darkness closed the hole in the ground leading into the ancient fantasy-like giant forest of the Illusion.

After all, Dawn had arrived.

That had forced Adam to remain behind in the Darkness, but with Eternal Light by his side, that did not matter. Furthermore, a simple release of his Shroud revealed almost everything around Adam, if without any colors. On the other hand, just sitting and waiting was boring. Therefore, Adam spent the time either meditating or testing out the kinks of his Shroud Coating through the different modifiers present within Skill/Petal Combo one through six.

Mostly, it all started with Adam trying his best to get used to Coating the Force Aspect into stones before practicing with them by making them zoom around him with various motions.

Once simple levitation became familiar, Adam began adding complexity to the movements, and only after that came the strain method by lifting heavier and heavier stones.

All in all, Time was quite fast when one spent it on practicing things.

Not long after Dusk came, the Dusk Prayer echoed out, and the hole opened up, Adam made his way to his Sanctuary through the ancient fairytale-like giant forest manifested by the Illusion.

Anyhow.

Before entering the Sanctuary nonchalantly, Adam held Sun Bearer firmly to pass through the barrier because he had lost the ability to control the Sanctuary personally and remotely after Awakening. Thus, had he not been careful, Adam would have been locked out of his own Sanctuary since the prime vibrational frequency recorded within the Sanctuary Core differentiated from his current one.

Generally, Adam would have fixed that as soon as possible, but the way to resonate his current prime vibrational frequency had changed since his Spirit had intertwined itself with every single strand of his existence. Consequently, with no standalone Spirit to resonate, Adam needed a different solution to the problem.

Either way, till that problem got fixed, Sun Bearer became the key for the Sanctuary since the spear was Spirit Bonded to Adam.

Back in his little camp, Adam began his preparations for the trip South, and this time, he would not let anything stop him from reaching civilization.

The food supplies for the journey were easily readied, though they took time since Adam had to smoke a lot of meat.

Thankfully, there was a limit on how much his backpack could carry.

The water problem, on the other hand, had been fixed quite some time ago. Specifically, in the same period of time, he made his leather outfits waterproof. Therefore, Adam solved the problem by shaping hard leather into a guard-like bottle before infusing and baking said bottle with a wax-like resin both inside and outside to prevent any leakages.

Admittedly, that one was hard to make without an oven, but at that time, Magic was the true solution.

The second preparation routine was about healing his injuries and improving his understanding of Shroud Coating. At the same time, Adam experimented with the other Skills/Petal Combos attached to the Shroud Grandmastery.

All in all, when one was busy, a week passed by extremely fast.

With all the supplies in his backpack, Adam prayed for the incoming Dawn before giving his Sanctuary one last look because it would remain where it was made, until either he returned or something broke it apart.

The last glance done, Adam made his way south, but it did not even take him ten steps to realize he was already missing the little home he had made for himself out of Light and even lived inside for close to a month and a half.

“Guess… I am back to surviving nature, only with weapons and profound skills.” Realizing the truth he just said, a smirk out of delight crossed Adam’s face.

“Alright… That makes me feel MUCH better.”
