Chapter 10.25 The meal before the meeting.

Vince and Edgur then proceeded to walk towards the ladies, and then Edgur led them all to the hall so we could eat. I walked shortly after they did into the dining hall. The room was dark, with flickering candlelight coming from the candles on the one lonely long table. With ten or twelve ornate chairs located around the table, glasses and plates with forks on top laid out already prepared. Then clapping my hands, all the lights came on.

I could tell everyone was impressed with the area. Most people have never seen this area let alone got to eat here before; even Edgur was a little surprised, I noticed. Most times, I kept to myself, letting the staff clean in peace, I ate alone in my room, so this room hadn’t changed much when the castle was first built and when my mother was in charge. I saw my guests take a seat, and then the chef entered the room. Surprised to see me for once, he asked, “Sir, what brings you here today? What are you in the mood for? I see you brought guests with you today; isn't that wonderful.”

Looking at the chef, I replied with a warm smile on my face, “You decide, Luoto and bring something out for us to start with as soon as you can.”

When Lueto smiled, and before he left, I added, "Yes, today it seems we have guests." The chef was a young man named Luoto, who I hired after firing the late staff, and within a few seconds, he turned around and left us. Everyone now found a seat at the table with our uninvited guest Mela taking hers last, and I could see she was casually looking around the room. I could not help but notice her admiring the various art that was hanging up. Looking at Mela, I asked her, “Do you like any of the art you see?”

Smiling looking cute, she continued looking around before briefly pausing and facing my direction again and said in a sweet tone, “I love the crystal bats. They are so beautiful.” Pointing to them now, I looked and said, once I was seeing what she was referring to, “Oh, those were my mother’s. She always had a thing for crystal animals and other weird sculptures.”

We continued to chat while the others talked, and within fifteen minutes, our meals were being walked out by the kitchen staff. After we ate, I decided to start talking to Mela about meeting the ‘Lord’ knowing all too well I was him."So Mela about the lord." Before I could continue, she said, " I can't wait to meet him; he has such a lovely home." So I decided to go along with the lie I told earlier for a little longer until I could be sure what she was here for.

Mela was a well-mannered human and spoke with confidence when she started to tell me, “ I can’t wait to meet your lord if he is as kind as you have been; hopefully, he will listen to the dire news I bring. I can’t go too much into it with you, but I thank you for all you have done for me. I won’t forget your kindness Silvar. Thank you.” Smiling at the polite young human lady, I replied, “ I understand. The Lord will call for you in a few hours, so please enjoy yourself as a guest in the castle. Until then, you will have a guard with you at all times but feel free to wander about inside.”

I knew Mela wouldn’t be able to talk with her guard, but at least they would be able to talk to others for her if something fowl was to happen while she was exploring, now thinking to myself, that should do it for that.

Now I started walking away as Aurora, Edgur, and Locust ran after me. I could hear them calling my name as they ran, “Silvar, wait up!”
