Dice, the cube that changes everything: Roll for Initiative
Chapter 3. Learning the Rules and playing the Game

Chapter 3. Learning the Rules and playing the Game

Damien stared that his white ceiling, blue eyes peeking out beneath raven locks in a daze. He didn't know how to process what he'd learned after conversing with X, the "Game master" of the game he had just stumbled upon. He took a moment to sort out his thoughts.

First of all, rolling a blue dice was the method to join the game. Blue dice turns into red dices after being rolled and were "locked" onto that person. Secondly, rolling a dice gave out "Points" which can be used to improve any trait of a person from physical health to even intelligence or appearance. After being used, red dice turns into ordinary white dices. The only method to get more was to complete "Quests" That X assigns. These quests can range from seemingly anything. In fact, he had just completed his first task not so long ago.

Five dices just to go for a midnight stroll, 3 for cooking his own dinner, another 3 for finishing his homework within 30 minutes...? Is that a lot or a little? I don't have enough info.

Still, he couldn't help his grin. It was just all so interesting. A mysterious entity, magic life-changing dices, numerous hidden "dicers" amongst the population doing who knows what. Oh, he was sure it wasn't all fun and games, because no matter how benign this "X" was currently acting, indulging in his questions and handing out dice like free candy, he knew better than to trust it.

He knew what he saw earlier in the day. That was no simple schoolyard roughhousing. Those kids could've seriously been hurt. They could've seriously hurt others too. If X was so willing to egg them on and assign quests for kids to beat the living crap out of each other, what else was he capable of?

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

But that was just the thing when concerning deals with the devil, wasn't it? Even though you knew it was a trap, the temptation was just too sweet.

----------------------------------------

The sun had just risen and Damien was watching it in awe. He had used his first die on improving his vision as a test, but he didn't expect such a difference. While he didn't "need" glasses per se, what with the cost, but it was such a change going from being able to see enough to go on with his day and being able to view everything in high definition. No longer did everything have a slight blur, every outline was sharp and precise. Colors were vibrant and absolutely sublime.

It was as if everything around him, everyday objects you wouldn't give a second glance or thought, had suddenly become works of art. Like he had opened his eyes for the first time he didn't know what he had been missing.

He didn't have classes today, but the day was just too nice to stay cooped inside and playing video games like he normally would. He quickly put on his sneakers and went for a jog. He made sure to avoid the alleyway from yesterday because it wasn't being paranoid if chances are things really were out to get you. He went through the park nearby and ended up sitting on the grass and watching the river. Sunlight gleam off the surface of the water, like a thousand gems dancing on the waves.
