The sound of feet slamming against concrete was the only thing breaking the silence of the night. Damien couldn't believe that he had actually overslept.
Great job, genius! The first day and you're already running late and reeking of booze. I'm so gonna get fired for this, aren't I?
Ironic considering the fact that he was only drinking because his friends had dragged him out yesterday to celebrate him getting the position. Every aching throb of his head brought forth a burst of pain and served as a reminder of his stupidity. Putting aside his self-loathing, the young man checked his watch.

It was cutting it close, but if he took a turn down Willows Street and cut through the two apartment he might just make it! "No, oh no no no!" He cried in denial, eyes wide at the sight of the locked gates. How? Why?! The fence was always open! He didn't have time to turn back now, so his eyes darted around for a solution. He grimaced as he quickly found him. Carefully looking over his shoulders to see if anybody was looking, he found the coast was clear and put his makeshift plan into action.
With a slight grunt he tossed his backpack with his uniform over the fence, it landed with a heavy thud on the other side. Scooping up his beaten backpack he was about to continue on his way when the sound of something crashing rang out from nearby along with a shimmering glow of blue light.
Normally he would just keep walking, after all, he was racing against the clock already and didn't have time to dilly dally as is, but something in his gut called out to him. Maybe he was just too curious for his own good because against his better judgment his feet started walking towards the sound.
