Volume 2 Chapter 22: Noble Souls

"Fucking brute! You almost blew my arm off!" Juniper yells at the groaning heap of a Belmont underneath the tree in which she had thrown him via psychokinesis assisted dropkick.

Looking at her arm, covered and held in place with the [Shifting Robe] that had altered its form under her orders to cover the job of a brace and bandages, the moth's brows twitch.

'Bloody fucking hell this hurts. If not for [Focus] assisting me in keeping a clear head and the conqueror haki training strengthening my willpower, I would be a sobbing mess right now, and certainly not still standing, rearing to kick some more shit out those three hardy fucks.' Thinking to herself, she also reviews the new application of psychokinesis that she had tried out in the heat of the moment.

'I should be able to dodge some of pretty boy's attacks now. Had to block or parry them because he moved to fast, but if I can just yank myself out of the way, I might be able to pull it off.' Taking a deep breath in hopes to help with the pain, Juniper watches how Trevor rolls on his back while coughing and wheezing.

"*Cough!* y-yeah. Urgh, only almost though." He manages to bring out before starting to cough really hard.

Once again feeling how the air becomes saturated, the moth quickly moves, understanding now that it is Sypha's magic at work.

The remaining two of the trio were quick to engage her in battle again, but this time Alucard has to deal with the demoness suddenly being pulled aside by an unseen force and avoid his attacks.

As the fight continues and Trevor joins in again after having recovered somewhat from getting his guts kicked in, Juniper steadily refines her new technique as the battlefield becomes more and more covered in ice because of Sypha.

It was when a spike suddenly shot out from an ice pillar, aiming to take out one of her eyes, that the moth realized that she wasn't the only one learning and growing stronger.

'They start to come up with new techniques too, heh, well fuck me then. How did I ever think that challenging the literal main characters of this world to a "fair" fight would be a good idea.' She thinks while feeling a bit helpless as she witnessed the Morningstar whip wrap around icy spears, pillars and walls to change directions like a fucking homing missile.

Alucard wasn't any better, he turned into a pinball of death that bounces all around, not only that, but he also broke off ice spears from the speaker girl's previous attacks and throws them at the moth with enough force to make her sweat.

Through the entire time of this fight, Juniper felt a constant pressure being put on her.

This did wonders for her observation haki's growth.

Being forced to keep up with the attacks of three very skilled opponents forced her to actually hone her skills instead of simply overpowering her foes.

It was only after the hour mark had been crossed that things finally begin to come to a close.

The aftermath of their fight had turned the grass field into a forest of ice.

Sypha's new technique that allowed her to create new spikes out of already present ice turned her earlier spears and pillars into literal trees with sharp branches that had shot out in attempts to hit the moth.

But even that turned out to be useless when Juniper gained a firm grasp on sensing magic.

Being able to perceive when, where and what the speaker magician is attempting allowed her to dodge pretty much everything, degrading Sypha's role to a mere supporter that could only interfere but not deal anymore damage.

Well, it didn't help that, as a demon, her opponent was pretty much immune to her other primary offensive element, she also got pinned to one of her ice pillars via the moth's thrown spear, which marked a breakthrough in her mastery over armament haki.

Because of the constant interruption, Juniper had gotten quite frustrated.

But with the speaker girl cleverly using her ice as cover, she wasn't able to do much.

In a moment of anger, the moth had covered her spear in haki and flung it at where she knew Sypha was hiding.

To her own surprise, the spear remained covered in haki, and with its assistance, easily pierced through the thick ice and through the stomach of one annoying magician.

After one of them was pretty much out of the race, Alucard turned into a white wolf and disregarded defence in exchange for overwhelming speed.

It was her luck that the first attack came in the form of a slash.

Sure, it went diagonally across her face, missing her eye by only a hairs breath, took off one of her antennas and gave her almost a heart attack, but the subdermal proved itself once again, and Juniper praised her past self for the decision to add it across her entire body, head included.

With his surprise factor gone, the moth was able to reverse the situation by tanking another hit in exchange for digging three of her mantis blades in the smaller body of her furry opponent.

Trevor's interference was what allowed Alucard to transform back and take some distance, though his wounds remained grievous thanks to the exhaustion that had built up over the long fight.

This also counted for the Belmont.

Normal human that he was, he got monstrous stamina.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to keep going at the same pace as the two inhuman members of the confrontation.

But he did not possess a healing factor beyond normal, so he is now standing on his last legs, which allowed Juniper to grab the Morningstar whip with a haki covered hand and rip it out of his.

"Haaa, it seem- ugh! It seems things are coming to a close my friends." The moth says while panting from exhaustion and pain.

"You sure, haa- urgh, we maybe cant form an alliance after all?" Sypha asks from the pillar against which she leaned while the bloody tip of a spear jutted out of her stomach as the pool of blood steadily grew beneath her feet.

"Heh, haa, fuck no." Straightening her back, and flinching, Juniper walks over to the prone Belmont.

Her earlier pull had faceplanted him on the ground.

'I'm out of magic power. Without [Focus] to help me deal with all this pain, I won't drag this out any longer. Not that they are in any better shape.' Arriving next to the bloodied figure of the last member of a great monster hunter family, she kneels down and places her one good main hand on his back.

'[Draining Touch]' She thinks to herself.

*Bam!*

The ground under the kneeling half-vampire explodes from the amount of force he put into his leap.

Blood trails his path as it rushes out of his wounds.

Sword aiming for her head, Alucard grits his teeth and tries to stop the demon moth from killing his companion.

Glowing green eyes snap at him before the air rippled and an invisible pressure forced him to the ground.

Conquerors haki rolling off her in waves, Juniper restrains the half-vampire while draining the life out of Trevor.

As the vitality floods into her body, the many wounds covering her begin to mend rapidly.

Itching all over, especially on her face, as she heals from the damage taken from the fight, the moth continues to stare at the golden eyes filled with all kinds of emotions.

The clearest of them all, are the disappointment and resignation that it won't be him that would rectify the wrongs his father had done.

Once the last flickers of vitality left the Belmont's body, a radiant flash appeared, accompanied by a very enticing smell.

'Of course he had a noble soul, the fucker might think he's some normal dude just doing his own shit, when he clearly is a big softy that can't resist helping pep's in trouble.' As she thinks that, a golden shimmer starts to appear and form a pillar of light engulfing the noble soul.

Eyes widening in surprise and even a tinge of fear flashing across her healed face, Juniper quickly sweeps the soul into her storage, burning the hand in the process and causing the pillar of golden light to flicker out.

Sweat drenching her back, the moth stares up into the sky and fearfully scans it for any abnormalities.

'Fucking hell! This ass almost brought the pigeons down on me!'
