Chapter 12: A Step to Power

Chapter 12: A Step to Power

I had a meal while I was in the dining room of the inn, of course my main priority would be to wait until I get my status card from that guild, but this feeling of not being able to move anywhere would be a bit of a problem to me if I don't know the street routes and the such, so I decided I would take a small walk around this city.

However, while I am still here in this inn, I have been eavesdropping on a specific conversation reguarding the barrier that broke down south.

These people that had been talking about it were adventurers, those of which that work with the guild of course. They had been saying that what happened down south was the work of heretics that wanted to overthrow the system, while other 3 that were talking together with them said that it was the Dark Order that had been revived a few weeks ago since he had fought off a cultist in the underground layouts of Faustor.

It was an interesting thing to talk about, because now I know that there's somewhat of an underground sewer system within this city, meaning that there's a vast connection to many parts of the city. Sadly it could be infested with demons, bandits or other things for all I care.

After finishing up the meal I had, I quickly got up and took a walk outside.

I took a deep breath and brought out the map that I had gotten from the guard at the gates of Faustor, with this, I can only map out different specific locations, but having a mental map of this would be more useful then having a drawn printed map of this city.

First off, The crossed sword I knew was the guild, the inn had a dove sign, sadly these icons were not in the map, so I could only mark it out in my head, and lastly the gates to the city was down the street and to the left. which was the main road.

I took a good look at this map, and the residential area was the most biggest part aside from the comercial district, which practically made 1/3rds of the whole city, while as the residencial areas made at least nearly half of the city itself.

I looked around and figured this place had the underground connections, and asking around might be a problem because no one that lives in this city wouldn't know it. That aside, me dressed as a farmer with lightly padded armour, what would I have to do with a vastly underground sewer? The only answer to that would be a quest, and I'll need a status card if I want to apply for quests.

2 Days left until I got my status, it would be a pain waiting, so I decided to explore this city for a bit.

. . .

The skies had already gone dark, There were lots of people going around the main road and a few were hanging around in the side alleys, as such, I decided upon looking for shops.

In many games that I have helped develop and program, shops held resources that people could use, like potions, obviously the idea only comes if I have money, and money doesn't pose much of a problem since I did have some amount.

I kept myself alert in any case someone tried robbing me, I could never be too cautious.

With a stroll around the city for a bit I traced back my way different times to the main road, simply because I needed to know the layout of this place, it would help me in the future if I did.

A while after moving around and I stumbled upon the comercial district quite quickly, I wasn't looking at the map at that moment.

There aren't many labels on the map, but I'm sure that it wouldn't pose much of a problem if I did that myself, yet I don't have any pencil or whatever they would use here so I'm limited to what I can do in that aspect.

I took the liberty of going through many of the small stalls and walking into the shops at least until the crowded main road was only filled with few people walking.

I did buy a few things however, and I plan on looking at them when I get back to the inn.

Those people from my world weren't around like they would usually be, so I would guess that most of them had either got a good spot for the nights in the city, or that they simply left Faustor, however, I would wonder how the gates and holding off the demons were going, still it didn't much interest me since it wasn't my priority.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

I quickly left to the inn with the map out and my eyes looking ahead.

Changing pov- Lajel Ervas (That farmer in the first few chapters)

Laj had been laying on his own bed after slaying all the demons that had traversed over his own farm, aside from the fact that the boy left a few days ago, laj's strength was underestimated by the foolish demons that had decided to kill him along with the boy.

"If it weren't for that damn stone, I would have been greeted happily by death" Laj was breathless, as he had no strength to move, he was still moving around despite the critical wounds that he had.

Laj glanced outside at the massacre that he had done, taking him a whole night to slay all the demons, those that got away probably have already reported to their leader about him. Yet expecting someone to come, he hasn't had any "visitors"(Demons) since the last 2 nights of completely obliterating a giant army of them.

Looking up at the cieling of his farmhouse in his room, he recalled an unforgettable memory that replayed in his mind.

Slowly getting up from his bed he mutters "The Un-yielding Swordsman huh?". A title that he had recalled being given to him because of his incredible merits, it only slightly angered as he remembered.

As he took a look at all his flesh wounds, he frowned upon witnessing them vanish as they closed themselves up with a small smoke emanating from the healing process of the wound. As if it was magic, Laj's healing seemed to be instantaneous, but it didn't make laj happy even in the slightest.

With his wounds fully healing themselves, laj got up normally and walked outside, towards to where the demon masacre had taken place 2 nights ago.

Laj's expressionless face had only predefined what he felt when he laid his eyes on the battle, but since his farm was completly destroyed, he was filled with dissapointment, yet inspite that fact, he was at least a bit happy since the boy was able to leave quick enough. For he knew that the boy held a specific ability which he had not said, yet he understood this boy "Arvis" because he was exactly like him.

He walked around the bloodied, corpse-filled farmland in search for the sword he left, and in the middle stuck in the gigantic demon that he had fought against arduently, was that same sword.

With a smile on his face, he strolled towards the sword.

"Such a weapon I can never leave behind" He said as he pulled out the sword from the demon.

The sword he had was engraved with a symbol that only Laj knew about, yet the sword holds lot of meaning to him as he looked at it passionately.

"Now then, my fellow sword, we'd best get going to the south, people are in need of our strength"

And as if the sword spoke to him, he nodded and walked into the dirt road leading him to the south.

Changin pov (again, sorry) - Arvis Yorvell

I woke up by the sunlight on my face as I had left the windows just a bit open for the air to circulate in the room.

Of course last night I did take a good look at the items I had bought, yet it only left me with enough money for a few more stays in this inn, which I will do after I get my status card and a good questing thing.

I had been thinking for a while about this, but I wasn't sure about it.. for example, what of the idea with proficiencies? I clearly asked myself about it and it wasn't much of a bad idea to make a system like that, but I am not sure if it will be too much of a hassle, yet the programming for that type of thing would be a problem.

The idea of having such a system would also involve things that I would do repetitively, and having a sleeping proficiency would just be outright stupid. Apart from the fact of having to be able to use proficiencies, things like Swordsmanship, and bartering would be usefull, but the programming of this world is so complex that I don't know how to go with this.

Another thing about the programming skill that I have, the one question I asked about last time was about the limit to how long this would be active, the reason I asked was because of the though of using in a combat capable manner, since I don't have any combat capabilities in the first place.

Now then, off to the main point on hand with my skill.

I won't even bring up my status since the author has lots of fucking problems bringing up the blue boxes, but I will say that I definetly need an attack skill, or something that can help me defend myself for all I care.

The items I brought all consist of magic, like the potion I mentioned before, I scanned everything in the shops and whatever I could until I was able to raise the skill's level, and in turn the data that scan uses to identify things improved, so I can surely say that with time, I will improve on the skills that I create by myself.

First thing is first, the system I made yesterday was for the purpose of managing skills and being able to use them by either calling the name or thinking about the skill itself, which in turn means that I can now instantly use magic skills if I ever create any type of magic.

Secondly, the processed skills that I make will automatically be transferred to the system's database, so like say it's a giant fucking file with tons of shit that you can take out by mental commands.

And lastly, each skill I make will be shown on a skill list... With its own category. Just like a game.

Aside from all those things that I mentioned, the system that I use won't easily allow itself to be over-exerted because of how gigantic I made its own values, and since I don't have to do nothing with discarding any unessesary information, the skill system will do that itself.

So, now I guess I'll be creating my own little attack skill while examining the programming skill.
