Several pon-sized green dogs were barking at me from the ground. No matter how I looked at this, I was doomed.
At first, my reaction was trying to get off from the tree and dashing away from this place, but I realized that wasn't the best choice after I saw 8 dogs and all of them didn't even bother to climb the tree as each one of them was just circling around.
Maybe they couldn't climb the tree? Then why didn't they attack me when I was on the ground? Did they just arrive? Or there was another reason for their behaviour? Either way, I had food that should act as the nourishment and the water, and the dogs had nothing, if I waited for a little longer they should've given up and let me went.
And so I waited, and waited, and waited. But no matter how long I waited, the dogs didn't stop their's bark.
"...Damn, those dogs are persistent." Or maybe my plan was bad.
Anyway waiting for them to go wasn't an option, after munching several fruits and spitting the seed onto the dogs an idea crossed my mind.
I never used the codes and the system itself didn't tell me how to use it, but curiously I started by saying "Urchin Dart."
And nothing happened.
Slightly confused, this time I closed my eyes and started concentrating and imagining the dart shape. " [Urchin Dart] " I said, but this time I felt like something inside of me moved, something that I hadn’t had and noticed because it never had been there before, rising from my chest and rushing to my hands.
Slowly I opened my eyes and saw blue lines circling around at my hand, condensed and made a shape. Soon enough, the bluish light was dispersed and 10 transparent blue coloured darts appeared on my left hand.
Though another problem arose.
I already clenched the dart, ready to throw it right at the dog but... I couldn't do it. Forgot about killing an animal, I'd even never hit someone before, the most violent things I'd ever done was fighting against my little sister, and that was when I was in elementary school.
No... that was a lie, I'd stepped on insect and killed a goldfish before, so this much wasn't a problem right? Yes... this was a dead or live situation.
Once again, I clenched the dart, pulled my arm and shoved it forward. Though I hesitated just a moment before I threw the dart. The dart indeed flew to one of the dogs but it only scraped its head.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
The dormant dogs suddenly glared at me, violently barking and marching to the tree. At first, I thought they couldn't climb the tree but my naive and idiotic thought suddenly terminated when one of them jumped, embedded its claws to the trunk and slowly climbing its way toward me.
"Im...impossible."
As the dog climbing its way, in a panic mode I threw the rest of my darts, some missed, some hit the branch and one of the darts stuck on the dog's eye, but that much didn't seem enough to kill it.
Rotating the gear on my brain, I tried to think a way out from my current condition. " [Wire Trap] " I shouted.
Following my shout, the same blue lines were circling around at my palm, condensing itself and shaping into a translucent grey cube.
And even though this was the first time I saw this, I knew how to activate it or at least its most basic function. Pointing the cube to the other tree, I fired a hook from the middle of the cube, launching it to the nearest adjacent tree, and the hook had enough power to pierce the tree bark; connecting my tree and the other tree with a thick wire.
I pulled the wire to check its durability and it seemed the hook pierced quiet deep. At first I wanted to swing with the wire but I immediately shook my head on that decision and decided to tie the rest of the wire along with the cube onto the branch and made a simple bridge.
Clumsily I traversed the rope while the dogs below me were jumping and chasing after me.
As soon as I arrived at the adjacent tree a notification telling me I got General Code Climb Rank 1 while the dogs were barking at the tree base.
But in a thicker part of the jungle, I took a deep breath, searching for the nearest and sturdiest not moving branch and leapt from one tree to the another while the dogs faithfully following my trail.
After spending some time chasing after me until the sun turned into the moon, though in this planet case two moons. The dog slowly stopped pursuing me.
Sighing a breath of relief, I continued to leap my way for a few minutes until my brain convinced me the dogs already gone.
Though because of this incident, I got another General Code: Jump but this time it instantly rose to Rank 2, alongside this my Athletic also rose to Rank 3.
Back on Earth people always said to learn from your mistake, but in my current situation, a single mistake could kill me. Indeed I was learning several valuable lessons.
First, I shouldn't let my guard down when I was gathering the food or resting.
Second, the dogs able to climb and yet they didn't do it, my best guess they were waiting for me to climb the tree so they could surround me.
Third, I should keep calm no matter what the situation was, as for the killing, I should prepare myself for that either.
Anyway, just before I took a rest, I spread several Wire Traps, surrounding several areas while making devotion to minimize or never make any mistake again.
I ended my first day at Strillon 1 by sleeping on the tree, surrounded by wires, while complaining about the insect and the coldness of the night.
