(TOBI) CHAPTER 3: BEFRIENDING PEOPLE SHOUNEN EDITION

“Can we tal-” Sparks flew as bone claws stuck against a bone encased forearm.

“-We can escape-” Pivoting herself on his right arm, she aimed a kick at his chest. Her single claw stabbing towards his heart.

A large amount of killing intent erupted and a fanged mouth formed from his left shoulder forcing her to dodge. Least she lose her leg, her opponent’s eyes were glowing red.

Every fiber in her body was telling her that this person was dangerous and that if she did not fight with the intent to kill she would die. “I’m sorry about that look you can trust me.” Despite his words, his left eye was glaring at her and the left arm was morphing into a large blade.

This was the reason she could not fully trust him. Ever since he had started displaying his powers in his cell, Laura was in another room observing him as part of her training in interrogation. When he started to form his armour and let out a roar she felt compelled to attack him, as if he was a psychic releasing a signal that included the desire for people to fight him. It seems she was the more affected but Kimura who was close by.

But as she actually fought him, her reasoning took over her primal instinct. Still she doubted that he could save her least of all her mother. From the knowledge she was taught on human behaviour she could diagnose him with bipolar disorder but a rational part of her was starting to conclude that the facility may have done something to make him this way. Memories of her breathing in gas forcing her into a mindless rampage surfaced, by the time she was lucid she had ended the life of her precious teacher.

“I know a way to get your mother free Laura.”

X-23 was the code name she was given and that was everyone called her except for two people. Her mother and teacher, so how did this person know her name? Why is he so adamant in talking to her?

She paused and simply stared. Taking that as her willing to listen to him, he lowered his guard. Throughout their short fight he had been on the defensive and using openings she provided him to smack her into a wall or trap her somewhere. Places which held surveillance equipment, the idea of escaping and living with her mother was a dream she had but one she had not thought much about till her teacher. An individual who called himself Sensei tried to teach her about her own humanity as the aged man taught her to be a weapon.

“Ok, now we need to-” Her claws kept striking a single his left chest. Despite the sturdiness of his armour she had noticed that each time he made a new weapon or grew any of his limbs. His armour shrunk slightly and given how after he escaped he went straight to the mess hall she concluded that his power was taxing him.

Each time they engaged she aimed for the same spot and he was starting to pick up on it. Good, it was all a part of her plan, she could tell that despite his power and how brutal he was when he fought. PWXI was inexperienced and appears to hesitate when fighting her.

“Work with me here! I can let you meet Wolverine.”

Once more classified information left his lips, barely few people she was aware of knew of her connection to Wolverine. Before they could resume their fight a large roar resounded through the facility. The source of the sound was from outside the facility but the ground started rumbling and the sound grew closer.

From the frost covered window nearby, the two could see a frozen yard and the black outer wall of the facility. Despite the blizzard, cracks forming on the wall as something from outside rammed the reinforced wall.

The next moment the wall erupted large brown horns smashed into the facility yard. A large creature forced itself in, and Laura raised an eyebrow. She had no knowledge of such a creature being experimented on or created by the facility.

The creature was a cross between a moose and a dinosaur. It’s head was that of a moose accompanied by strong antlers, the face appeared to have scales While the rest of the body belonged to that of a T-rex. White fur coveredit’s main body aside from its tail, feet and front claws.

“Wait, how the hell is that here!” Curious, PWXI knew of the creature. “Did someone crossbred it from the savage lands or crack up a hole in dimensions again.”

Was this a common occurrence for the target. The directors would do anything to take him alive for the information alone. The remaining surveillance equipment was sure to have picked up the news. She can be confident that even if he was captured he would be kept alive and Kimura would be told to not harm him too extensively.

“What is this creature?” For the first time she actually talked to him.

“It's called a Banbaro an-” He replied to her instantly as the creature named Barbaro looked around the facility before it narrowed it’s eyes at them. No the creature was glaring at PWXI “-Wait you can talk! I thought they put control chips in you hea-”

The creature leaped at the building crashing into their floor. Debris filled the roomIt as it led out a terrifying roar stabbing it’s antlers into the floor scooping up concrete and hurling it at her target.

“The plot sure escalated.” Grabbing a wheatstone he somehow found, Wade sharpened a katana. “That boy needs to learn to keep quiet, don’t you think so too.” By his side a passed out Kimura was hung upside down.

Wade looked at the katana, the sheer rage and killing intent would have crushed a lesser man. “Normally you find things like these in a weeb's house or in rich guys mansion around here but you guys somehow got a bonafide cursed katana.”

Wade stared at her for a moment, satisfied that she was still passed out. He looked away to a series of screens. “If it weren’t for good old Wade, the amount of secrets being spilled here would get you guys to send an army of mooks and some more villains at him. Clearly he is the titular shounen protagonist that believes friendship is magic.”

One screen displayed a large monster rampaging through the facility, the boy was valiantly fighting back while the girl, Laura or X-23, just watched. “You really owe me a lot Boyo.” Typing away at a computer Wade deleted the recordings of their conversation when Tobi found him till now. However everything before that freak earthquake was sent to a private server. “The egg heads and higher up sure know when to run.”

Another screen showed scientists and various personnel being loaded into black jets. Most have already left minutes after the earthquake hit. “Guess a test subject breaking out which you people dubbed a potential weapon alongside an earthquake knocking out all your electronics gets this response.”

Typing away at the building “Well that should do it.” The screen went red with exclamation marks. “Shame this is a small facility, I wanted to do a prison break with people full of powers and getting revenge on you all. But Francis is already gone and you guys haven’t put in anyone this brand new facility.”

Getting up Wade brought the blade to Kimura’s throat “Now to send you off to sleep for good.”

Tobi was not having a good time, after finding out that he was in Marvel. He thought he had a good hang on things, then life threw him a curve ball as a monster from an entirely separate franchise came crashing in. Said monster was focused on him as if he had stepped on it’s egg or something equally heinous.

As the monster grabbed a concrete pillar from a wall with it’s horn. It started shaking its head using the pillar as a bat to pulverise him. Laura was just sitting back watching, at least she was no longer attacking him.

Hopping back from the monster Tobi tripped and it smacked him into a wall. Pain filled his mind once more and the ravenous hunger surfaced. Caved into a wall, dust filled the area.. His eyes lit up red, the control over his body waning. Already the youth’s body was changing, the sections of his broken chest were repairing itself. As if in response to the monster the armory's design had changed and his arms were morphing into large blades. To tear the threat to shreds but the main problem was Tobi himself. He was still reigning in the desire to give in to rising hunger.

As the monster slowly approached his downed prey an epiphany hit him.

Wait… was this not fine. Laura was not in the way and it was just a wild monster hell bent on killing him. Ain’t it fine to let loose and… devour it.

“SPIRIT BLADE SLASH!!!”

Red flashed across the hallway followed by the monster screaming in pain. A portion of its back was sliced off and the lump of scales, meat and fur landed near Tobi.

“Wade!” The mercenary landed near the monster Wade posed dramatically with a red glowing katana. “Eat up and replenish your stamina”

Lunging for the meat, Tobi devoured it ravenously. The monster however pushed through the pain and charged at him.

“Close your eyes, it’s time to flash.” Throwing a flash bomb at the monster, it screamed and tumbled onto the floor as it’s eyes were burnt by the bright light. Wade got into a stance. “Moose meat tastes nice but not sure about this one.”

His meal done, a new set of armour was rapidly developing. Sections of brown scales grew through his body with thick white fur sprouting in certain sections. “Wait where did you get that sw-”

Having recovered the Banbaro roared at Wade, it’s hate for Tobi forgotten, it started attacking the mercenary.

“Less talking, more being awesome!” Sliding under the beast’s horn Wade went for the tail. “Time to hunt this brute Wyvern. I’ll go for the tail you take care of the head.”

“Roger.” A large thick shield covered with white fur and brown scales formed in one hand while a large scaled lance. “Oi over here!”

Charging, the lance stabbed into the monster’s side. As the weapon penetrated into flesh, it formed a mouth and started eating. In response the Banbaro rampaged through the area, trying to get Tobi off. But despite how it smashed itself into the walls to unlodge him, Tobi stayed in place. Until it jumped and started rolling around sending him flying.

“Hey assassin girl, you help in too.” He threw a smart phone like device at Laura who caught it, her eyes widening as she scrolled through it. “I’ll make it worth your while.”

“I got it’s Agro so I’ll play the Tank role.” Standing up Tobi slammed the edge of his shield into the ground and stood his ground as the roaring monster charged at him.

“Good then me and the assassin girl can deal the damage, what did you do to get it to hate you so much” Despite the damage Wade did to it, the monster ignored him entirely and focused solely on Tobi. Smashing it’s antlers into the shield over and over, if it was not for his new form. Tobi would be thrown away like a rag doll.

“No idea!”

Dashing back Wade sliced it’s tail off throwing the monster of it’s balance before stabbing his sword into the stump and before the monster retaliated. He ran across it’s back tracing the weapon through fur, scales and bones. The sering agony stunned the monster temporarily, giving Laura an opening to blind it’s eyes.

Blinded the monster roared, the sheer force sending Laura and Wade flying. Tobi alone stood still, morphing his lance into a giant fist and socked the monster face sending it flying a few meters. Parts of it’s antlers fell to the ground.

“Wish we had a talking cat to throw bombs at this thing.” Pulling out a wad of C4 Wade, threw it overhead. The explosives stuck to the recuperating monster's side. “That or cook up large meals for your gluttonous stomach.”

Kneeling on the ground, Tobi devoured the severed tail. He could feel power welling up within him, new ideas came to his mind of how to form new weapons and configurations for combat.

“Pretty sure we-” Speaking in between bites, Tobi gnawed on large antler pieces“-can find some, sadly not a Lynian.”

“Long as it’s not a thieving Melynx or Shakalaka.” As the creature shakenly stood up Wade detonated the bombs, the creature bellowed as it’s blood stained fur was signed. The force of the explosion sent it into a wall.

“The Melynxs in towns are fine.” Holding his right hand out Tobi focused, the hunger was guiding him. Sets of teeth followed by flesh grew on the limb.

Laura muttered, "what's melynxs."

“You clearly have not suffered enough like us old time hunters.” Wade dashed forward at the creature followed by Laura, the duo skillfully dodged it’s attack as they sliced away at it. While the older man’s sword could easily cut into the monster, Laura’s claws were not strong enough so she sliced into it’s bleeding wounds.

It’s pained roar was silenced as a much larger fanged filled mouth clamped down on the monster's head, blood and gore spilled all over the place. The bloody sight caused the duo to look back at Tobi, his arm had morphed into the head of a giant creature. The only distinguishable features were two red glowing eyes and a large mouth filled with rows of teeth.

“Damn, you sure have an appetite” The grizzly sight did not end as the glutinous head continued to devour the creature whole. Leaving nothing behind, even the blood was absorbed. The endeavour taxed Tobi sanity greatly, making him fall on his knees. Making sure the head does not turn to the other two as a source of food.

“I can’t leave any of this thing lying around for Weapon X. Who knows what they would do with it.” The creature devoured the head was drawn back, it turned it’s ravenous gaze towards the two before being yanked back by Tobi and forcefully turned back into a regular hand.

“Point but damn, you just jumped games.” Walking over the mercenary sheathed his sword and inspected Tobi’s arm. “Not exactly a God Arc but looks like one, though your more like that cute albino pipsqueak”

As Laura drew close, Wade’s hands lashed out stabbing a taser into her neck and chest. An untold amount of voltage was released in the silently screaming girl. Soon her smoking body was knocked out, the man turned to look at Tobi’s horrified face and held a finger to his lips.

“Don’t have time for questions just trust me. Let’s move it.” Sensing the urgency Tobi got up and started following behind Wade who lugged Laura on his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. “I set this base to blow up and want to catch a good explosion shot.”

The pair ran through various hallways and ended up in a hanger, the entrance was sealed shut and there was a single large aircraft. It looked futuristic and had a lot of weapons. “What happened with Kimura?”

“Choked the bitch but she’s got a lot of plot armour.” Fishing out a card, Wade opened the aircraft and he placed Laura in a holding cell on the plane and cuffed her hands. Then he rushed towards the cockpit as Tobi walked in the aircraft warringly.

The door sealing shut behind him Tobi glanced over at the out Laura before following Wade. “A jacked up old man showed up and saved her. He wanted this cursed sword but I gave him a cool scar and rushed over to you”

“Jacked up old man?” Tobi racked his mind trying to remember any character fitting that description. Then he ran into a problem far too many were jacked in the comic universe.

Seeing his predicament Wade threw him a bone. “He was half naked and had ridiculously long white hair in a ponytail and some black hair in the front styled like an M. Oh also had claws like this girl but his were more of something he wore.”

“Wait long hair in a ponytail, one you might find a Final Fantasy character having?”

“Yep.”

“Oh, think that might have been Romulus.”

“If I know the internet and how this story is going, you're going to tell me that this person is that one in Roman history. Then how he’s somehow lived to this age and has engineered all this” Tobi just stared at Wade in surprise. “Your silence and the awe at my amazing deduction skills are all I need to know.”

“So where to?”

Wade started up the plane and the entire vehicle hummed to life. Putting on seat belts Tobi was to ask how they were going to get out but Wade just fired the missiles at the entrance and soon they were in the snowy sky.

“Head to Xavier’s school for the gifted, it’s where Laura’s dad is and people who can help us.”

“So it was a school for teenagers with superpower! People on the internet must feel vindicated if they knew.”

“Do you know where it is?” Typing away at an onboard computer, Wade opened google of all things and typed in directions for the school.

“Nope, I’m using google for that.”

Behind them the facility erupted in a large blaze, the shockwave from the explosion shaking the aircraft slightly.
