[ROY] CH 001.2
“Sounds ominous. He a zombie?” Jessica wasn’t too put off, the strange name sounded a little cheesy to her.
“Telepath… or something, whatever he is it allows him to use Mind Control…” Roy then proceeded to explain the entire history of the kind of horrible being he was leaving out the more extreme things but implying it enough so she got the message he wasn’t some to come into contact with.
“Okay so if I got this straight, I come across him and he tortures me like he tortures everyone in his vicinity. The best thing I can do is to not fight him at all and run because I don’t have any defenses against it.” Her expression nauseous as she closed her eyes trying to avoid thinking about her alternate self.
“That’s about the gist, find yourself a good telepath and set up some defenses, don’t come into contact with him.”
“Seems kind of tough to do since you know we have no idea where he is, what he’s doing or what his abilities' reach is.”
“He doesn’t have grand ambitions, is pretty petty and is a slave to his basic desires. As for his range, likely less than a kilometer but who knows, it's best to be cautious.” Roy contemplated something he hadn’t really thought about, “Now that you came here I realize this is a good opportunity to meet a few heroes.”
---
The two flew across the state and spotted the X-Mansion. The place wasn’t actually all that far, about an hour from New York if one took a car, but the two hadn’t and made it there in minutes.
“It's being attacked!” she shouted with a burst of speed, Roy followed suit both rushing towards the X-Men.
There was a large Dragon, “Another one? How many are there? This is still marvel right…” Roy muttered, it was strange that so many weird monsters were popping out of nowhere, even the city he was in, which he had correctly deduced as New York, didn’t look quite right.
They were mistaken there were actually five freakish abominations of nature. ‘Okay well more like they looked like super mutated dinosaurs with powers.’ One shot bones and regenerated fast; it was black and blue roaring into the X-Men trying to avoid the firing of bone missiles.
One shot lasers from its many eyes on its skull like some demented disco ball, the other used plants to entangled, one was just a straight summoning lighting and the last one like looked like some funky yellow technicoloured cyberpunk gorilla that went super saiyan.
There were a lot of X-Men he recognized, some he expected to be there like Jean Grey, Nightcrawler and Iceman, others not so much like the speeding blue one he didn’t recognize, Pixie the pink fairy, and dreadlocks girl who was using force field generation. His HUD informed him there were ten in total.
Jewel smashed into the laser one, that had the most range and seemed the easiest to beat, knocked its head so far back the lasers shot into the sky giving the Dreadlocks chick with the Forcefield generation a chance to breathe. It jumped back firing them in sequence, opening one of its many eyes and closing another so there was little interval between laser fire, the best they could do was attack at odd angles to give them some room to breath. It moved with the grace of a predator, swiping at them when they weren’t paying attention, there was intense intelligence corralling them.
Roy stopped paying attention as he went for the Blue Bone Regenerator he landed right in front of it using two of the six of his thrusters as stabilizers staking them into the ground and the other four as rocket engine flamethrowers blasting it with force launching it into the lightning summoner.
They crashed into each other tumbling one over the other, swiping and roaring. He could feel his skin rattle from the close proximity. Pixie was standing a fair distance away straining as she tried to wrench open a pink portal to what looked to be the desert, “We can’t deal with them here!”
Jean Grey stopped concentrating, putting down her index and middle finger from her temple, “No, we can’t let them run free! They’re X-.”
The two Roy had sent tumbling were now trying to kill each other lightning frying the bone spikes and the regenerator itself as the two roared in defiance, the lethality destroying what vegetation grew around them. Iceman and the Forcefield Generator Dreadlocks girl were entrapping the weird yellow technicoloured saiyan gorilla, it battered against the cage they were setting up for making cracks in the ice around its legs and the forcefields choking its other limb.

The last one seemed to be giving them the most trouble as nearly everyone fighting it was caught with the exception of Shadowcat who could phase through nearly everything and Nightcrawler who could teleport away to Limbo then back to this dimension.
The Portal Pixie had been made was large enough for Roy to help Jess push the now ice sculpture of the saiyan gorilla through it.
Kitty Pryde phased through another attack and shouted, “Heck yeah! We got one down!”
Iceman changed direction blasting ice to the other beasts, “Only the other two are left, the-”
Then the disco headed laser monster opened all its eyes at once and blinded most of the group as it bore down on them with a red torrent of light. It eroded their defenses with the force of an artillery strike. The forcefield girl barely managed to redirect some of it before half the group was sent into the forest behind the mansion. Pixie had unfortunately been hit sending her through her own portal unconscious in a form of irony.
The Laser Beast closed its eyes almost as if it was recharging. Roy realized his lasers weren’t actually lasers or half the X-Men would’ve died right there, and scrunched his brow in confusion at the ridiculous ability of having a laser that wasn’t lethal. It opened its serrated mouth and roared, at that point Roy stopped trying to figure out the logic of such a weird creature.
Jean Grey had been staring at in sadness before the attack now she shook it off and shouted as she floated above, “Everyone split up!” Scattering the remaining fighters.
The plant one, which Roy decided to dub, Poison Ivy with its ludicrous ability of plants had a small evergrowing forest around it, there was a speedster blue chick in one of its vines tightening it in a very Non-PG fashion, she would soon die if no one did anything. Nightcrawler and Kitty were trying to distract both of them and teleport the other running fighters around barely making it sometimes as the vines moved faster than a whip cracking as it grasped Nightcrawler’s smoke clouds. Kitty was running around after the blue chick as the Plantmon kept shifting its location around since it couldn’t stop Kitty from phasing through it.
Roy knew the best way to deal with them was to have them fight each other like the other two were.
“Jewel with me! We’re going to tame Laser Dream over there, distract it!”
“Got it! Hey ugly!” she rushed up and tried to punch it but it jumped over her and swiped at her with its claws. The beast had a rounded head with many eyes on most of its front face and a mouth that split open from the sides like an orange slice. It had a large tail and was very reminiscent of a large cat-bird-griffin.
It screamed/cawed/roared rattling their bones. Psylocke had been shooting arrows at it from a distance giving it psychic headaches as Jean Grey kept Plantmon busy. They could hear the crackle of thunder strikes as the other two beasts were still fighting.
Roy punched Laser Dream in the face with his wing engine thrusters, it jumped back right into Jewel’s right hook, this allowed time for Roy’s own attack. Laser Dream however had wised up, swiped Roy up and he was put in the path of Psylocke’s arrows disorienting him before backhanding him into her then jumped up and flew off.
Jean Grey shouted, “NO!”
She tried to fly after it only for her legs to be entangled in a vine now that Plantmon wasn’t under psychic attacks. Plantmon unlike the others was a lot more stationary being a stout lizard-tortoise-elephant hybrid. It made up for its literal forest of plants popping up for the ground and the damned vines.
Luckily Roy had faced off against the dragon before and the thrusters were natural plant deterrent burning much of the greenery causing it to freak out and try to grow even more plants before trying to make its escape. It was fast but not that fast.
He burnt through a lot of them fairly easily slowed down only by the trees sprouting into his path before he made a rush for it. Something was telling him to put his hand on the giant green beast.
‘It was as if… she was speaking to him.’
Suddenly it stopped and the attacks did too, Jean Grey and the speedy blue chick fell to the ground unconscious from asphyxiation. They were able to escape when the vines relaxed.
Psylocke limped over having been struck by one of the vines, “So… you’re a half robot plant whisperer?”
---
The process took nearly an hour and Plantmon nearly escaped several times but the other X-Men were there to corral her if need be. Putting his hand on its soft exterior, he cut her crazy boost of energy somehow, weakening the massive control of her plants to around a tenth and stopping the beast from even moving from the spot.
His nanites were trying to do something more but the nanite infused teen couldn’t make out what, and frustratingly had been banging his head against the metaphorical wall until Psylocke suggested they take a break since Plantmon, that had been catching on to his embarrassment, wasn’t going anywhere.
“It looks like the other two have disappeared,” Jessica pointed out. The other Lightning Storm and Bone Beast Regenerator had run off, “The weird Yellow Glowing Gorilla got punted through the portal along with Pixie. Laser Dream,” She smirked, he didn’t deign a response, having said it in the heat of the battle, “Flew off, and we only have Plantmon here. So a 1 out of 5.”
“It could be a zero.”
“True.”
The X-Mansion was in shambles and Roy got a first hand look at the X-Mansion’s terrible state. ‘It looks like it was true what the fans said about it. You’re not living at the X-Mansion if it hasn’t been destroyed multiple times a week.’ The lasers while not lethal had immense force behind them shearing off much of the roof, flooring, pipe networks and walls. Only the front end had survived intact, if just barely. Parts of the side were also on fire.
Jubilee and Kitty Pryde weren’t the only ones unhappy but the rest weren’t as whiny about their rooms and clothing, though it wasn’t like he had ever given things any intrinsic value beyond if they were useful to him. With the exception of books. Books were life.
“Pixie is missing,” Iceman said to Beast, “I can bring her back on the Blackbird…” He trailed off as he saw a hole in the hanger, its edges singed with glowing yellow and orange of melt metal.
Beast put it aptly, “Oh no. The Blackbird has been destroyed.”
Iceman stared at the hole in the ground blankly, “How even?”
Beast replied, “It was the lightning, must’ve conducted and shredded it, presumably why we’re still alive right now.”
Psylocke limped over, “We need to get Pixie, she's alone in the middle of the desert.”
Roy spoke up, “I can go looking for her, just need to ask Jean about something.”
Psylocke sighed in relief, “Thanks.”
Roy nodded not sure he knew why Psylocke was happy, not to say she was a bad person but she seemed relieved as if her family was coming home. ‘They weren’t sisters… right?’
