"What do you see?" Silas was holding his breath. Since arriving in this world, he had to scrape from the bottom, risking his life or his guildmates for anything useful. This was the first time he could get information without taking a big risk.
No, I shouldn’t think it doesn’t have a risk. If we have a way to obtain information with divination, then there must be a way to defend against it, like learning the position of the people spying. We must be careful to not reveal too much in case we’re being watched too.
"Everyone, please back off behind a house. We don’t know if we’re being spied on." After that, he looked back to Emily, who was concentrating on her vision.
"I can see him in the distance. It’s in the forest but is much thicker than the one here."
"Can you see his skills or powers, his shape?"
"I… I don’t want to move forward. I feel it’s going to detect me if I get closer."
"Back away, we don’t need to risk it. Instead, focus on something we can use against it. Any material or something that can help us in the fight."
"I see two things. A green rock on the side of a mountain and a staff in some ruins."
"You know where they are? I need you to memorize it if possible."
"Yes, I already have it in my memory. But there is something else. I can sense the movements of the forest. He’s coming for us in two, no, in three days. He is going to reach the cave in three days."
It was a race against time. He couldn’t verify the information, but he had to assume the worst. The enemy will arrive in three days. A green rock is probably more of that metal. We can use it to make another weapon. The staff is probably a weapon in some ruins; it could be anything, but we won’t know until we get it.
"That’s enough for now." Emily opened her eyes and the connection was severed.
Everyone got together in the center to decide the next step of the plan. Of course, Silas had already planned it.
"Since the enemy is coming in less than three days, we need to prioritize the options. Emily, how far were the objects you saw?"
"About one day away toward the south and the east."
"Two days at the minimum means we can only go for one thing. I propose we go for the green stone. We already know that Nadine can make weapons with it, so it’s the safe option."
"Wait? Why don’t we split up and go for both of them?" Nathan interrupted him.
"Because we don’t have enough people to make two balance groups. We aren’t going for a picnic. We may have to fight to get them, and we only have one healer and one tank."
"But if we are planning to fight this thing, then we should have all the options, buddy. If we go for both at the same time, then we can return with a whole day to spare." Most agreed with Jacob, but Silas was shaking his head in disappointment.
"Haven’t you learned by now that we can’t get confident in our powers? If there is no tank, then one hit could take someone down. If we don’t have a healer, then that person is going to die. If we had potions or something, then maybe, but it is still too risky."
"How about a vote then? Those who agreed with me to go look for both things, raise your hand."
It was 6 in favor. Only him and Emily were against it.
"I don’t understand why. Emily agreed with me, and the rest of you are forgetting all the things I have told you."
Nora touched his shoulder gently and started talking for the group. "I think the reason Jacob and Nathan are suggesting it is because they don’t want to burden everything on you and Emily."
"Why?" It didn’t make sense until Franco spoke.
"Because you two have done more than enough, kid. It's time for us to help too." He looked at Nora. Until now, everyone had contributed a little, but Emily and Silas were the ones who worked harder than everyone else.
Silas and Emily went on every expedition, and after seeing her new appearance, they realized they were accomplices in it. They didn’t mean for Emily to change and turn into a plant, but they felt guilty for sitting around and only waiting for her power to bring a solution.

Stupid, it wasn’t our fault. We couldn’t predict it, but it is also a good thing. Now her powers are much better. Silas didn’t understand, but the decision was made. They were going to go for both the green stone and the staff.
"Emily, can you make a map for the group who’s going to the closest object, if you please?"
"Okay."
"Fine, I’m not the leader. We all agreed to do it by a majority. If it’s the guild decision, although it is stupid, I have to agree." He made a drawing on the ground, separating the two groups.
"The first group is going to go for the staff. The people there are going to be Emily, Rebecca, Franco, and Nadine. The second group is going to retrieve the stone. Nora, Nathan, Jacob, and me." This was the grouping with a higher chance of survival for both missions.
"We go now and pray we don’t have to fight and that no one gets inside the cave while we are away." He was bitter, but everyone else agreed to the plan. Without wasting time, they left.

Silas couldn’t shake the bad feeling on his back as he walked without Emily’s guide. Back to the first couple of days in this world. He was lucky that he and Jacob managed to avoid predators, but after the bird incident, he was constantly checking the sky.
"Don’t worry, buddy. I've got my gun ready in case anything happens."
"Hey, don't act like I’m not here. I've gotten pretty good at handling this shield. Look at this moves." Nathan was making poses to show how fast he could react. Both ignored him. The only person paying attention to him was Nora.
"Very good, Nathan, but I hope we don’t have to use our powers." Nora had spent most of the time around the cave, so she didn’t have many opportunities to fight, but Silas took her on an expedition to check her power.
It was a power that allowed her to help others and communicate with telepathy. During the fight, he felt her at his side, and she showed him the weak point in the shell of a big turtle. Nothing spectacular, but very useful. If we have to fight, then she and Jacob can take down the enemy while Nathan keeps him busy. This combo should work for two days.
The day was almost over when they found a part of the mountain range. It was on the map that Emily made. "We need to climb and then keep going east until we find the stone in a small deposit." After climbing, they could hear a rumble.
There was a pack of beats walking across the mountain range. Their bodies were round and hard like a rock, and their faces were rugged with small eyes. There were hundreds of them, all walking in the same direction.
"Amazing is a migration," Nora said.
"How are we supposed to cross?" The map pointed to the other side, but the massive migration of these animals was blocking their path.
"Can we try to pass through and not disturb them?"
"I don’t think so, buddy. They are already looking at us funny from this distance. If we try, we might end up being trampled."
Fighting so many animals was a suicide, but time was ticking, and the wave kept coming. He walked to a nearby stone and looked over the horizon. There are so many of them. It's going to take hours for them to pass. The sun went down, and as such, the beasts stopped their migration and sat on the ground.
"We can’t even wait for them to pass. How are we getting the stone then?"
"Give a moment to think of something, Nathan." As he bit his lip, trying to come up with something, Nora touched his shoulder.
"Silas, don’t fret, I have an idea."
"What?"
"I need you to relax. It is already dark, and traveling like this is dangerous. We can resume when the sun comes back up."
"The problem will still be here by that."
"I said I have an idea, but I need some time. Can you trust me for a few hours?"
"Fine, let’s set up camp. Who is taking first watch?"
"I’ll do it." With Nora volunteering, the others decide to prepare the camp.
He went to sleep with insecurity, but wasting energy was pointless. He felt sleepy and could feel a gentle hand stroking his hair. It was Nora.
She did the same to Jacob and Nathan. Relax and leave this to me. Honestly, having to depend on kids so young was embarrassing as an adult woman. She walked forward to the sleeping animals. She wasn’t sure what to call them, as they didn’t look like animals on Earth.
She focused her power and extended her hand to a group in the front. The animals opened their eyes immediately as they felt something, but it wasn’t hostility. She calmly talked inside their heads.
"Goodnight, I don’t intend to harm you, but I can’t help you unless you allow me to." They didn’t respond. "Still wary that it is normal, but I ask that you let me sing something to help your dream is an old song from my world for sleeping."
Her power was still lingering around them, which meant they hadn’t closed their hearts. She lost count of how many little kids she had put to sleep with this song.
There was no way for her to soothe wild animals by simple singing, but her power made her words reach beyond ears, beyond words. It was the language of souls. The beasts fell asleep in peace.
"Ah, ah, I didn’t think it would tire me so much." About a dozen animals fell asleep, and she walked to their side with security. She put her hand on the head of one of them and confirmed it. It was not hostile to her anymore.
"Thank you. Can I ask you for a favor?" The creature opened his eyes and looked at her with curiosity.

The morning came, and Silas opened his eyes in a panic. "Did I sleep all night? What happened?" He looked around and saw Nathan and Jacob were sleeping too.
"Did you wake up? The sun just barely came out." Her voice was tired and the bags under her eyes made it obvious she hadn’t slept at all.
"Nora, what happened?"
"I ask them to help us pass to the other side." She pointed to a group of animals going back to the pack. "They were nice enough to accept my request and carry us across."
"Did you use your power to convince them?"
"Yes, but I had to do it all night since we had to change from one group to another."
"Why?"
"I couldn’t ask them to stay up all night or they would have refused. I had to convince about five groups to reach this side."
He was amazed; he thought her power only worked on allies. No, she made them her allies temporarily. "What did you do for them to accept you?"
"I just help them relax for a good night's sleep. I did the same to you. Do you feel better?"
"Y-yes." He made a mental note to never underestimate Nora or her power again.
