Prologue - Limbo

I want to live

A small voice rings in my mind.

My legs kept walking, as they were pulled toward something. Taking me from gray mountains to gray oceans.

But throughout all of my steps, only one thing kept coming and going.

I want to live.

A thought that vanished into nothing…

I want to live.

It came again…

I want to live.

And again…

I want to…

Only to vanish into the usual silence, right as my steps brought me to a colossal fortress that pierces the skies.

Throughout all of my steps, there had never been such a scene. The fortress’s giant gates slowly opened, revealing a grandiose hall, the hall however was empty, a lone carpet spilled on the endless floor of the corridor.

Yet again my feet took their own steps, as if pulled towards something. The gates now long behind me closed on their own. The windows that filled the corridor spiled gray light showing the way forward.

My feet kept going, a hundred steps, and a thousand more, until they brought me upon a throne, on which the pull felt the strongest.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

“Another… One?”

Upon the throne sat a man, he had long gray hair, and a constant frown, he looked in my direction, remaining upon his throne.

“Why did you come here?”

The being spoke, its voice traveled around the giant hall, echoing.

Neither of us did anything, until my lips moved, “I want…”

“Yes?” His eyes widened a bit as he leaned forward on his throne. Yet again nothing moved in the hall, my lips started to tremble, trying to mutter the thought that has come, but has not yet passed.

“To live.”

His frown deepened, he laid his hand on his chin, as he narrowed his eyes. ”That’s all?”

Raising from his throne, he walked towards me, stopping only one step in front of me, he raised his hand and touched my chest. “There is only one way for you to get free of my realm, it’s probably the same way you got into this place in the first place”

With the man being so close, I could feel the pull emanating from him.

He slowly punctured his fingers into my chest, “the next time, you might actually end up here again, or maybe you’ll be reborn in another place, from the looks of it, your will to live will still exist, just as it did in here.”

He grabbed my heart and squeezed. The room started to fill with dark spots that appeared and vanished. With a swift motion he pulled my heart out all the while gazing into my eyes.

I fell, his mouth moved, but the only thing I could hear was a muffled noise. I could no longer see anything as the room was overtaken by the black spots, until the room came into view again.

⁓Ahhhhh finally. A voice full of delight rang in my mind.

I could see the gray man look in my direction as I slowly ascended, looking beneath him, I could see a lifeless body of a scarred man. Memories of this place started to flow into my mind.

My endless walk for God knows how long, the gray mountains, oceans, the forests, and wild fields.

“Good luck traveler.” the gray man craned his head upwards to my location.

Little purple spots started to take my vision, they swarmed around me until I could no longer see the room, my vision was obscured completely until they stopped and disappeared entirely, leaving me in warm darkness.
