The next morning George woke up well rested. It felt like the best night of sleep in his entire life. This was the first time he to woke up himself instead of the chip waking him up at exactly seven in the morning. He didn’t know why he needed to sleep in NASH while he didn’t in the tutorial world but he felt refreshed like it was the first real sleep of his entire life.
After washing his face and putting his clothes back on he started to look for teacher Solomon. After looking around for a while he found grandpa Wilton and with his help found the route to the teacher’s offices.
George had never seen so many people in one place. Everyone was walking from class to class and busy with their daily routine. But to George it felt uncomfortable with so many people around him, so he started to hasten his pace to the third floor.
After arriving at the third floor he started to look on the doors to find his teachers name. The third floor was much more quite because it's where the teacher’s offices are. Every office has a mailbox where students can use to send requests, like lessons or company for the hunt.
After finding the room George knocked on the door but there was no answer. George didn’t know what to do, he could go ask grandpa Wilton or could stay here and wait for Solomon to arrive. He decided on the second and sat down next to Solomon’s office.
As he was sitting a young girl around his age started to walk toward him. She had black hair and decent looks. She had a mean looking expression but you could see kindness in her eyes.
“Why are you sitting in front of teacher’s office?” She said with a cold voice.
“My name is George, I’m a newcomer. The teacher told me to look for him after I wake up.”
Like always George explained without talking much and went back into his own thoughts. Seeing this the girl felt annoyed and started to bite her lips.
“Teacher is busy all day and told me to take you to your new job. Still, don’t understand why the teacher has to find you a job if you can’t even do that what good are you?”
George stood up and waited to follow the girl to his new job. The girl got suppressed seeing no response from George and started to mumble beneath her breath.
‘Can it be that he really is slow?’
She tried to start a conversation a couple of times but seeing no reaction got bored pretty soon and started to quicken the pace. George had trouble keeping up but did his best not the anger the young girl and followed her outside of the academy.
“Listen up kid, the teacher told me to explain a couple of things to you before we arrive at the winery.”
George got a little bit annoyed at the way she was talking. Looking at her he knew that they were the same age and she would probably be in the same year as he was. But she was calling him a kid and acting like she was the senior. But he still didn’t say anything, it looked like she was about to tell him something important and if he angered her he could lose this chance.
“Later when you read the beginners guide you will find out a lot about how Towns and cities work but for now I will teach you the basics. Information like this cost one credit but you’re lucky. The teacher likes you and told me to tell you the basics.
Every town is under control of one clan, in this town, it’s the Trust clan with lord Trust as the town mayor. Besides of the trust clan, there are two other clans who have high influence, the Hoopers and the Gullies. The Hooper clan is put in charge of town security and is the clan that commands the barracks. The Gully clan, on the other hand, owns many big shops and is the wealthiest besides the Trust clan. You can recognize them by the color of clothes they are wearing. The Hooper family only wears blue clothes and nobody else is allowed to dress in blue in Wine town. These rules also apply for yellow worn by the Trust clan and green worn by the Gully clan. You need to be really respectful when you see someone dressed in these colors. You need to make sure you don’t offend anyone from these families because that will mean your expulsion from Wine Town or if you’re lucky your death.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
The other thing teacher told me to tell you is how the auction house and the bank work. Almost everything in town is controlled clans except for the auction house and the bank. These two are governed by NASH itself and are the only two shops in town that don’t have a city worker.
I do advise you to store your important possessions in the bank before going on a hunt. Anything stored in the bank won’t disappear after you die and can be held save. But the bank also has some disadvantages. You can only store forty different items for free before you need to pay a fine. If for example, you have forty-one items, you will need to pay one credit every time you access your bank. The amount will stay the same until you reach fifty items and then you will need to pay two credits, by sixty you need to pay three credits and so on until you reach a hundred which is the max amount you can store. If you want to store more you will need to upgrade your bank, but that is something you don’t have to worry about for now. I advise you not to add more than forty items in your bank because as you will find out you will need to visit the bank almost every day.
The second disadvantage is that your possessions won’t move with you to a new town or city. Every location has its own bank and you will need to move your possessions manually if you ever decide to move to another town or become strong enough to travel to the cities. It also means that if you die you won’t be able to get your possessions back for two session years. This also works the same way with the auction houses.
The auction house is pretty straightforward. You can put anything you own for auction and buy anything at the auction house. The auction house uses your secret name as the buyer or seller to protect your identity. Whatever you do, don’t tell anyone your secret name because someone can kill you for your possessions. You never know who greedy enough to commit murder for a quick buck. And because of the two session year punishment, you won’t be able to come back and get your revenge. And even if you find him after the two session years you won’t be able to do anything because of how behind you are after two years as a slave or city worker.”
The young girl seems self-obsessed with her own story and didn’t pay much attention to George. She had the task to tell him about the town if he listened of not would be his responsibility.
George was taking in the information and trying to remember everything as good as possible. While he was doing that they arrived before a big building with dozen chimneys on it. Just like the academy and barracks it had written on it.
“This is Gully’s winery; you will be working here. Remember that teacher recommended you. So your actions are a reflection on the academy. You need to do your best not to bring shame to teacher’s name. I also work here, if you have any questions you can come to me for help.”
The young girl nodded her head while she said that and entered the winery. The winery was full of distillery’s and the smell of wine was overpowering.
“Old man Levy, this is the newcomer teacher send to work here at the winery.”
The old man looked down from the ladder he was standing on and looked judgingly at George. After a while, his mouth turned into a little smile and started to come down from the ladder.
“What is this you have brought me, Liz. Even though I told Solomon that I needed help, I didn’t mean he should send me a ten-year-old.”
Liz and the old man laughed at the same time and looked over at George. But like always George had no reaction. Which made the old man surprised and Liz annoyed.
“Old man, he doesn’t talk much. But if teacher recommended him he should be up to the task.”
The old man had a look of confusion on his face as he didn’t know what to do with George. Even though he needed help he didn’t want someone to be in the way and make it worse than it already was. He was still behind in the orders and needed help. The Gully clan expects him to deliver and he had asked Solomon for help, but he had sent them a small kid who didn’t even talk. But he had good results with Liz so he decided to give it a try.
“The annual wine feast is near and I don’t have the time to teach him right now. Liz will teach you how to make wine. Next session day you can try making your own batch and I will decide if you are worth my time.”
After he said that he gave Liz a nod and started to go back up the ladder again.
Liz gave George a look and started to shake her head. She thought that when they got here she would be rid of him, but it seems like she was stuck with him for at least four more days.
“Follow me, I will teach you how to make wine. I don’t have time to repeat myself, if you want to work here you need to be quick on your feet and have a sharp mind.”
