Chapter one

Death/Reincarnation

Hello, sir, I said, approaching my senior. I had been at M.I.T. for over four years and had top grades in four areas and more than three master's degrees in advanced mathematics. It had always been my dream to unravel the mysteries of the universe.

My life of 21 years had been long. The first thing I could remember was being orphaned by a drunk driver, I had made the best of the situation by making academics my priority, with hand-to-hand combat being a close second. I was a black belt in both taekwondo and aikido. Although it had cost me in areas such as love life and friends, that sacrifice had made me one of the most innovative individuals in the world, able to defend myself from those who threatened me,

Professor, I yelled again, running towards the tall, skinny, half-bald man who had mentored me at nearly every turn since I met him in the library that day several years prior. At the last step to the professor, the profound happened. The sky lit up as a fast-moving object slowly began to burn in the atmosphere. Right on time, the I.S.S was due to be retired, burning the piece of history in the atmosphere and then plunging it into the Atlantic. Still, I shouldn't have been able to see it. Realization rocked through my body. I was on the other side of the planet fear raced through my heart as I pushed the professor towards the railway system in hopes it would protect him from the mass of the object approaching, but before I could personally make it, a flash of blinding light and heat so intense I blacked out hit me. All I knew was the darkness of my subconscious.

Awaken, lost soul of the cosmos, your time ended abruptly, and your fate was affected by an evil god awaken to your new reality.

My eyelids creaked open. They felt heavy, as if I had slept for a long time. As they creaked open, I realized I didn't recognize my surroundings. Pure white walls surrounded me bright light blared from every direction.

Ah, my child came a voice that sounded both male and female, and the being it came from appeared to have no discernable gender but was similar in form to humanity. Taller than normal pure white hair and glowing ethereal eyes pierced my existence. My soul was seen all its rebirths instantly judged my choices judged by a nearly omnipotent being.

Hmm, how momentarily enjoyable I can work with this, but you will be tasked with incredibly difficult choices. Some may lead to finishing off a world on the brink of destroying itself once more. I have chosen you to be my champion but be warned, the gods who have taken sides will also send a patron who may become your greatest enemy, and of course, all memory of our meeting will be erased. You will live fifty years freely getting to know your new world. I will give you a necklace to hide you're being. You will look like any other classless light worshiper when scanned.

Before I could answer, my being tumbled into darkness again before I fell completely unconscious. I heard the being mumble that I would become a draugr. The next thing I would remember is my birth.

the new world

"

Leaves trundled from the sky, touching the ground in September. The cold embrace of snow had yet to fall, unusual considering the time of year, not that Emelia was complaining; it meant more time to hunt and gather the supplies for the long winter ahead.

Amelia grasped her slightly distended belly, rubbing soothingly as a small but strong movement could be seen as her stomach bulged ever so slightly.

Laughing, Emelia went inside to read to her darling yet unborn child; she knew that he would grow strong like his father before him. His father had passed just a few months after conception. Derrick had passed onto the long road of rebirth, defending their tiny home in the distant valley with his life. A dark mana wolf had attacked them, and the only reason Derrick had died was because of how rare the wolves were. Its rarity meant he knew nothing about it. Even during the rule of the dark, could they be tamed by a handful of the most elite of the dark forces not genuinely aligned to either side. The wolves start as neutrally aligned beings glowing silver like the moons of our world.

These specific wolves had traveled through the cursed marsh gaining their death alignment to survive.

Emelia sat contentedly before the fire, rubbing her stomach as she stirred tonight's dinner. She looked contentedly at her current Level since she had conceived; she had been gaining levels rapidly, which wasn't out of the normal, just the blessing of the six defenders of light granting her the ability to survive her pregnancy on the outermost fringes of the discovered lands. She knew that in six months, she would birth a being sent to her by the grand creator, he had contacted her in dreams months before she conceived, and she had agreed to raise the harbinger of a new era, and he had made her promise not to tell her son and to raise him as her own.
