Chapter four
At the age of sixteen, everything went wrong. The light had found our little hut in the mountains. Of course, Mother had known they were coming for days, having seen them in the sphere. Hence, in preparation, I put on the nice clothes Mother had made me. They consisted of beautifully swirling silver designs on the shirt, black pants, and heavy-duty all-terrain boots. Next, I put on my armor, which I did smoothly after four years of practice. They were enchanted with a shape-altering enchantment to ensure they would grow with me. My bag and sword followed. It was the first time Mom had allowed me to wear the sword. It was enchanted with a few things. First, it stayed forever sharp. It would never get damaged second. It had a miasmic ruin engraved in the gem on the hilt that strengthened me. It also allowed me to leave invisible markers wherever I needed them.
With everything together, I set out for the dark spire dungeon hidden deep in the mountains. I was to return when the light had left my mother's and my home. We removed every sign of me, my bowls, spoon, cup, bed, everything so it would look like she lived alone. Having gathered everything, I kicked Moonguard gently in the side to rouse the lazy bones from in front of the fire. Upon being aroused, he looked at me with the most indignant look as if I had somehow hurt him by waking him. Laughing at him, I told him to come, and with a grumpy snuffle, he stood stretched, knocking over several items with his girth before following me out the door. Before leaving, I kissed my mother goodbye, hugging her fondly Moonguard jumped up to be included bowling us over.

The first days alone.
I had been on the trail for several hours by the time the soldiers of light were due to arrive. In preparation for the coming night, I gathered sticks and stones to make a fire for the night. I dug one foot into the ground to ensure the fire was as hidden from the distance, prying eyes and oracles as possible.
Once I had the fire going, I immediately removed the seer orb from my bag, sitting it in front of me. I concentrated on my mother, and her house soon came into view. The soldiers of light used our precleared fields as an area to operate.
Putting away the Chrystal, I made for some sleep Moonguard sat on his haunches before rolling over to ensure I stayed warm. I threw out a few warning ruins and fell contentedly asleep, rubbing the fur of my dearest friend and companion. What Mother didn't know was that I wouldn't return immediately. I was sixteen when most young men set out to adventure and discover what they wanted to do with their lives. I had missed out on my first few years, not to mention the mission I had been system oathed to keep secret from all light-aligned beings informing me that I had fifty years from today to ensure the survival of the dark. Instead of getting to explore when I was younger, I had been stuck inside studying. This time, I would explore discovering whatever I could. With that thought, I fell asleep.
