Chapter 3

Chapter 3

I drew the circle and sat in the middle of it before speaking the words I had practiced so many times before Arun mirin Leranian bring forth the other half of my soul lost to the cosmos in times ancient and new. At once the circle lit up as the ruins glowed bright silver in color then my eyes widened as worlds not of our own flashed iridescent before my eyes they flew by so fast I saw more than two hundred of them in seconds then when I felt I would lose my vision the blurring worlds stopped on one with a massive white ethereal tree but the tree only caught my eye for a second for in its branches was a creature unlike any I had seen in books over the years it had silver eyes that gleamed with intelligence and yet they didn't seem threatening but friendly as if they were the eyes of a long lost companion the creatures large body was easily six feet at the shoulder black in color with grey streaks in its fur its tail began to bob happily as it began to bound towards me knocking small branches from the tree that scattered to my floor the large feline then jumped through the portal to land atop me pushing my shin into a branch that had come through searing pain erupted through my leg as the small white clump of tree burrowed through my skin and into my body the large cat roared in displeasure as it glared at the rest of the small branches that inched towards me but far faster than the black cat could react they to flew towards me to join their brethren searing pain was the last thing I knew before the dreams started blackness had taken me locked me in my own mind but the battle had only just begun as the small branches of the tree were parasitic and if I didn't fight them using my now limited mana I would die so with what little thought process I could eek out past the pain I fought the tooth and nail bunching the parasite into a ball near my chest where I compressed them forming a sort of core they screeched in pain fighting my dwindling will power but before they could escape I threw up a ward around them the parasite soon fell obediently quiet.

I awoke to a hot rough tongue plastering my face and six legs spread over my floor. The long pelt of my freshly summoned familiar covered my body like the softest blankets. The fur must have been around four inches long and super soft. I reached out and softly touched some. This light touch elicited a loud rumbling purr from the creature as it licked my face once more before looking into my eyes. Its silver eyes looked deeply into my eyes before the system popped up in my face.

I began to pull at the parasite to absorb it, but instead of just being absorbed into energy as I had expected, It melded into the cells of my body. The grand system changed it to serve me better. Before I could do anything else, I awoke to a strange rippling feeling. I cracked open my eyes to see a white wooden armor engraved with tiny detailed ruins appear on my skin. I panicked, thinking the parasite had revived. I opened my menu to look for changes.

Dismissing the screen, I looked again at the armor. It felt polished and more complex than any wood I had ever touched with my hand. The set consisted of vambraces, a helmet chest plate, and greaves covering most of my body. Strangely it weighed less than even the simple hide armor that Mother had made me. I stood up, pushing my yet-to-be-name companion off me, who fell to the floor with a loud thump and still didn't wake. The armor fit my twelve-year-old body like a glove. My arms, legs, chest, and head were covered in white wooden armor. Looking at the system, it appeared that the armor couldn't be reabsorbed into my body, so I slowly started stripping it, offsetting each piece next to my bag and sword.

I then looked at my companion, who, sensing my stare, cracked open a single lazy eye to inspect before huffing, licking my face, and then quickly falling back asleep as I looked over its shaggy black fur, six legs, and silver eyes, I decided on a name I named him Moonguard upon the thought of the name silver swirled around the two of us completing the bonding at this point I decided I needed to sleep.
