Chapter 16: Valentine's Day

Chapter 16: Valentine's Day

Dan sighed, It was about 4 am, and he was currently sitting at the kitchen table in his apartment.  Amani was currently still sleeping on the futon.  He looked over at her and considered his options. He had a big and frankly nerve wracking decision to make today.

Today was Valentine's day aka V-Day, one of the days he was supposed to show her exactly what she meant to him.  It had perfect timing this year, besides the fact it was the first time in a long time he had actually had a girlfriend, or rather a wife if you asked Amani, there was also the fact that he had spent the last week learning swordsmanship and she had been working hard teaching him.

He could tell she was stressed, there was an enormous amount of weight on her shoulders, and she felt like it was all her fault.  He wanted to take some of that weight off of her chest.

And so here he was, sitting up at the table at 4 am. Attempting to plan something for Valentine’s day.  The issue was almost everything was booked at every restaurant, he should have booked one almost a week ago if he wanted to go to any of the nicer restaurant.

He picked up his phone and launched the internet app.  He needed some ideas.

“Best Valentine’s date Ideas...”  he searched the nets for the perfect idea.

He came across an article on the ten best ideas and started to read, this sight really had some good ones, but not ones that quite fit what he needed.  He looked over at her, she was sleeping so peacefully.  He had been with her for just under a month, he however could no longer see his life without her.  Or rather he didn't want to see his life without her.

An idea came to him, and his eyes lit up, he looked at the clock.

4:30 am

So if he left now he should be able to get there when they opened up right?  Yeah, he could do that, the only issue is he needed to know her size…

This was nerve wracking, he was breathing slowly as he leaned over her, with careful hands he reached under the covers and found it.

Her hand.

He pulled it slowly out from under the covers, he was constantly watching her face, looking for any sign of her waking.  Thankfully however it looked like she was out cold.  He pulled out the piece of yarn he had and wrapped it around her finger.

Pinching it where it met back up he slipped it off of her finger and tied it there at the spot.  She muttered something and re adjusted herself under the covers, Dan froze in fear that she would wake up.  Thankfully however she did not, and after turning over onto the other side she was soon back to her deep regular breaths.

Wiping the sweat off of his brow Dan stood back up, he had things to do, and only a few hours to do them…

Amani awoke to the smell of something really good.  She opened her eyes and much to her surprise she found she was alone in the bed. Looking around she found Dan cooking something on the stove across the room.

His way of cooking had always seem strange to her, strange but good.  He turned around and placed two plates of something on the table and looked over at her. “Good you are awake, want some breakfast?”  he asked, there was a strangely expectant look in his eyes that she caught for a second before he hid it.

She looked at him, he had gotten much sturdier in the last month, all excess fat had melted off of him, and he had gained some muscle mass, leaving her with a more sexy man to look at.  Not that he had been unattractive before, it's just that now, now he looked hotter.  His face was still crowned with a red mainline mixture of hair and beard, but that was exactly as she liked it.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

She had seen these men in his society that shaved off the fur on their face, it didn't look right, they looked too young, like they were not men but rather still boys. It didn't look natural. She shook her head breaking her current chain of thought and stood up, she was still naked, and with a slight blush she grabbed the discarded sleeping clothes from the side of the bed from last night’s activities. She still felt a little shy about letting him stare at her body naked, even though he probably knew every inch of it already.

She made her way to the table as he set out the food,  it looked like a thin pancake, which was something he had made for her before, but it was rolled up, and had a white cream in the center, and was surrounded by strawberries and other fruits and a reddish sauce drizzled over it all.

Was this food or art?

How long had he spent making this look perfect? How could she eat something he spent so much time on?  He sat down and smiled to her, something was off, there was something different about him today… she just couldn't put her finger on it.

“Well aren't you going to try it?”  he asked, not even picking up his fork but rather waiting for her to try it.  With a slight tinge of regret for messing up such a pretty display she cut the food with her fork and took a bite.

A shock ran through her as the mixture of flavors danced on her tongue.

“Wh-What is this?”  she asked, staring at the food with wide eyes.

“Its called a Crepe, you like it?”  He asked, looking at her with expectation in his eyes.

She didn't answer, simply opting to scarf down the crepe, and then looking up at him with large puppy dog eyes.

“Yes there is more...”  he laughed at her large upturned green eyes. “I'll take that to mean you liked it.”  she nodded her head enthusiastically.

After breakfast she thanked him for the food in an appropriately intimate way.  After several hours and a hot shower to clean themselves up it was already lunch time.

They were currently in the car, driving to someplace Dan would not tell her.  Today had already been the stuff of dreams, just laying about with him, the cuddles the snuggles the heavy petting, and let us not forget about the food.

She had needed this, she had been stressed the past week or so, she needed to make sure he was ready, if he wasn't then he would die, and she doubted she could ever live again without him.

No she refused to live without him.

The car pulled up into a small parking lot.  Looking around Amani found that they were in the middle of nowhere, they had been driving for the past hour or so now and had finally arrived at their destination it would seem.

Grabbing a woven basket and Amani’s hand he lead her down a path, it led to the shores of a lake, the warm wind blew causing soft waves on the lake’s mirrored surface.  Dan laid out a blanket and set up the basket, taking out its contents.

So it was carrying food? Were they going to eat outside? Well this was a nice change.  She sat down and leaned up against him as they eat the sandwiches and chips he had packed for them.

“Hey Amani?”  he asked, she looked up at him, there was a crumb of bread on the corner of her mouth, with a smile he wiped it off. “Did you mean it when you said you wanted to stay with me for the rest of my life?”

Her cheeks darkened, and she simply nodded.

“Well then,”  he set the sandwich down on the blanket and reached in his pocket. He pulled out a small black box.  She looked at it in curiosity, he was slightly regretful he was unable to see a surprised look on her face, but this was to be expected, seeing as she was still largely oblivious of his culture’s traditions.

He opened up the box. “We use a ring to ask the person we love if they will stay with us forever.”  the ring inside was not a big one, it was in fact a simple silver band with a single heart diamond embedded into it. It was however the absolute best he could afford at the time.

She looked at the ring, and back at him, realising exactly what he was asking her eyes went wide. She was at a loss of words as he pulled the ring out of the box.

“Amani, will you marry me?”   he asked in an excited voice, there was also a little worry in his voice.  She discarded the sandwich and sat on his lap facing him, leaning in she kissed him long and hard.

Once they parted she spoke. “Do you even have to ask that question?” she asked, he smiled and slipped the ring on her finger.  She looked at the ring on her finger, it was the most beautiful thing she think she had ever seen.

Amani Rhodri, yes she liked the sound of that, she liked it very much.  She leaned in and kissed him once again, her hands raking through his red hair, before passionately slipping under his shirt and rubbing up against his chest.

Not caring if anyone could see or not she pulled off her shirt.  He rolled her over and place her on the ground.  Even with the blanket down she could still feel the random rocks and roots underneath, she however did not care, as he stripped her down, revealing her naked body to the open blue sky.  He leaned in kissing her in all ther sensitive spots he had learned in the past month.

They tangled with each other for several hours completely forgetting about any and all worries in the world.  She snuggled up on his chest, smiling in the deepest contentment she had ever felt in her life.

“Happy Valentine’s day Amani.”  he said with a smile.  Valentine’s day? What was that?  She looked at Dan who was currently staring up at the blue sky with a smile.  The warm wind blew past her stroking her naked skin, causing her to shiver and Dan pulled her in closer to his warm embrace. If this day was called Valentine’s day then she would have to remember that name as it was the best day.

Yes, she decided that her favorite day was Valentine's day.
