Dan sat in front of the laptop in his bed with bloodshot eyes as he seemed to be in deep thought. He had been searching for ways to make some substantial money.
He had also checked the price of a mana core which seemed to range from 1 to 10 million Zemos. Not a price that Dan could afford even if he sold this house and his parent's restaurant or even his parents and himself.
This price range had nearly shattered Dan's hopes but he wouldn't break so easily.
He had scoured all over the internet and found something.
The cities of this world had one strict rule: No normal citizen was allowed to leave the city without a permit provided by the mayor of the city himself.
That meant Dan couldn't leave the city to hunt monsters or search for precious herbs to earn money as that was what metahumans did.
But there would always be rule breakers. Like the fake metahumans who were just normal humans posing as metahumans and leaving the town. How they achieved this, by using a fake license and some sleight of hand to pose as a psychic or just straight up bribing the guards at the checkups.

While most of them lost their lives some came back with good bounties like some meat of the beasts which were scary expensive or some fruits or berries that grew in mana-rich environments. Those bounties would be enough to set a normal person for life.
And Dan was debating whether to try this or not. He would have to pay good money to get a fake license of a metahuman which would work and not land him in jail. And then have some good luck to get a good bounty once he is outside the city. Both were very hard to achieve.
But Dan had Lang, an AI that could not only give him super strength, agility and healing but also do complex calculations that would help in dangerous situations. How would Dan get super strength, agility and healing? By overriding the limitations posed by the human brain on the body. This would not only help him pose as a metahuman but also help him in his search for some good bounties once he left the city. A win-win situation.
But there was a downside to it too. Using full strength of a human body was dangerous which could lead to torn muscles and broken bones. So it should only be used in moderation.
But to help with that was the super healing. It wasn't as fast in the movies but it would still be possible to heal from some injuries. It had its downsides too which were extreme exhaustion and fatigue.
And with all that, Dan could possibly pull off a successful trip outside the city if he didn't run into any beasts.
"But first I need to train this body. "Dan muttered as he stood up from the bed and glanced out the window in front of him. This kid's body was simply too weak to survive in such a dangerous environment as the outside world.
"Growl. "
Dan's stomach growled reminding him that it was time to eat. He glanced at the clock beside his bed to see that it was already 3 p.m.
He had been so engrossed in researching that he hadn't noticed that it had nearly been five hours.
Dan exited the room and made his way to the kitchen ready to engorge on some food now that he had a plan in his mind. From tomorrow, his training would start. But then suddenly, Dan remembered that he had school tomorrow.
"Fuck you, Ian. "
