Tragedy at Robindale Part 3

Besides Gage and the lanshi the street was empty but it was far from quiet gunshots could be heard in the distance popping off more then an old muffler on a car. Shrill shrieks accompanied by an occasional explosion made Gage fully feel the gravity of the situation. The town had gone to shit far more then he realized and he wanted no part of it. To guarantee his own safety Gage firmly locked his eyes on the only threat currently around him and began to square up against the lanshi.

The lanshi didn't do the same it lunged at Gage with primal furry ready to grasp and tare him apart. As the creature's eight appendages stretched closer Gage lowered his center of gravity and side stepped to the left into the creatures blind spot. The lanshi bewildered by this looked around frantically only to discover Gage's fist an inch from its face. No time to dodge the lanshi became uncomfortably close with Gage's fist and the floor. Flung away by the force of Gage's blow the lanshi was left sprawled on the ground. It jittered in pain as the iron tonfas touch marked its cheek and stung like a red hot kiss from the sun.

With great composer Gage twirled the tonfas in his right hand around in circles while the one in his left relaxed on his shoulder as he walked forward. From the ground the lanshi clawed at Gage's calf as he came closer. Gage's response was releasing the full force of his spinning tonfa down on its head. Like a cracker Gage's attack shattered the ground denting it but missed the lanshi entirely. This happened because as Gage was attacking the creature grabbed hold of Gage's arm diverting his blow.

With his arm in the creature's claws Gage could feel his bones scream under its monstrous grip. From the other side Gage saw 4 claws rushing at him. Knowing that it was impossible to block all four arms with his measly one arm was impossible Gage twisted his hip and kicked the lanshi in the back of the knee forcing the lanshi off balance enough to narrowly avoid most of the attacks coming at him except one that clawed into his chest.

Four wide claw marks now decorated the center of his chest but Gage ignored it. He instead focused on freeing himself from the lanshi's grasp. Gritting his teeth Gage slammed down hard onto the lanshi's arms that had grabbed him with his tonfas. Forcing the lanshi to let him go do to the state of its now contorted arm.

The lanshi squealed from having its arms forceful reshaped into awkward angles. This crippling blow was easily solved by the lanshi that simply tightened its muscles forcing its arms back in place.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Gage's eyes widen at the sight of this and then promptly complained.

"Awe, come on what does this thing have no bones or something".

Gage scratched the back of his scalp in annoyance as he went back in for another round.

"If it doesn't got no bone to break then i'll just break everything else".

Edging closer Gage stepped lightly as he baited the lanshi in. More familiar with the creature now Gage knew just what to do to take it down. By presenting himself as tempting bate Gage easily got the creature to do what he wanted.

The lanshi clawed at Gage's throat. He avoid its attack and all others it sent by staying one step out of reach. The creature my have had 8 arms but its attacks were repetitive and predictable so he continued to goat it and throw light jabs to nudge it into place. During one moment when the lanshi lunged a little to far out of its grasp Gage saw his chance and seized it. Ducking out of the way Gage came from below and struck the lanshi dead in it's one good eye searing it shut as his metal tonfas touched skin.

With the creature blinded it moved around with no direction. It still had its other senses but the sudden loss of one of its major senses was crippling for it. So much that the lanshi became nothing more than a punching bag for Gage. It swung around in a blind flurry but none of that meant anything to an experienced fighter like Gage.

With each swing of his tonfas the lanshi became more unrecognizable. Indentations formed on the lanshi's head each strike molded it like doe. Gage kneaded his masterpiece till it took its form of a crushed watermelon. The crimson fluid covered the floor and Gage's weapons. The fight was over yet the lanshi still squirmed around with a crushed head that now had turned into jelly. Gage knew that he could just walk away now and just let it die from blood loss. But after seeing the creature struggle in vain Gage couldn't help but finish the job.

Taking his gun Gage unloaded into the struggling body of the headless lanshi. Round after round he fired but even after firing an entire clip the creature didn't die.

"So, your one of the annoying ones that just don't know how to die properly just my luck".

Gage sucked his teeth as he looked around for a way to remedy this situation. Not long after Gage's sight landed on two pump action shotguns that were in the trunk of the patrol car now just laying on the road. Gage no stranger to scavenging took it along with some ammo he found already loaded onto a belt and returned to finished the job.

*Bang*, *Bang*, *Bang*

Three shots rang in the street it took three shotgun shots to put an end to an already beaten lanshi. Gage reload his shotgun as his gaze swept across the area. The street was a mess but free from danger at the moment. He could see curious and hopeful gaze looking at him through the windows of many buildings but he ignored them all. Gage valued his own life more then that of strangers.

Besides it wasn't like he had the ability to magically fly everyone to safety. Gage knew the limits of his own abilities and he knew that attempting to do so was the same as announcing an all you can eat buffet for any lanshi nearby. Not burden with the fates of the others nearby gaze took his gear and left in search of a safe location.
