In what seemed like an instant the years passed and on this moonlit night the same day when we laid our sister to rest I wondered was it worth it? We were angry blinded by our own rage and sorrow, yet our target was clear. Clear as it ever could be, but was it worth it? To soak the earth with her killer's blood only to be chased down damp ally ways during the dead of night. Did it not tarnish her memory or did our actions bring her comfort in the afterlife?
This wasn't how things were suppose to go, but it did and, oh how wrong did it go. The sound of multiple beasts chasing us down was a testament to that. The blaring sound of whistles in the distance belonging to multiple Pugs trailing behind worsened our situation. They were coming and it was all my fault. Amongst everyone I was the only one who truly knew how to fight. I was the only one who was trained on how to properly kill and I let them drink from my well of knowledge.
Adam, Danton, and, Greg all ran beside me as we escaped the firm grasp of the law. Our legs blurred from our rushed steps. From the corner of my eye, Greg's panting figure came into view. His black hair flowed against the wind, his deep blue eyes reflected the moonlight, droplets of blood streaked against his cheek and quickly dried due to the breeze. As I ran I couldn't help but stare at him his expression drew my gaze and my ire. At the time we were clearly in trouble but instead of worry or doubt about what our fates would be what Nathaniel saw was joy pure unmistakable joy. Greg felt no fear he loved every second of what happened today. From the killing to the chase it all only brought a smile to his face. A smile I will never forget for the rest of my life.
As we ran the beasts drew closer the pack snarled like hounds, but were much fiercer than any average hound you would normally see. What chased us we called Langou they were pack predator type creatures that were mostly all female and shared a common ancestry with Lanshi but are less vicious and are 100% tamable. Their an exotic pet that isn't too often seen these creatures while resembling k-9s as they walk on all fours have a clear outward appearance that resembles aquatic creatures. Langou almost all have gills on their neck, but their physical appearance differs depending on what their breading with.

When the end of the ally came into view we knew escape was just a gate jump away. Oh, how foolish we were to think that. The perfect plan, the perfect escape everything is subject to change and potentially doomed to repeat failure. Adam climbed over the steel fence with little problem, same as Danton, and I. One after the other we made it escape was nearly in our grasp when the pain filled shriek of Greg's screams lit up the night. He was practically to the top when a Langou sunk its jagged shark like teeth into him.
Blood sprayed down the beast's throat signaling the others to latch on as well. Their teeth reached bone latched on tight the beast tugged and pulled in a bid to rip Greg's leg off. A curse escaped our mouths as we watched in shock. In shock of Adam not even taking a moment to consider his own safety as he jumped back over to the other side with a wooden board that he fished out of the trash in his hand.
With the pointy end of the board, Adam jabbed one in the eye making it back off in a whimpering mess. While he smacked the face of another. Aware of Adam's threat the last beast let go of Greg's bleeding leg and pounced on Adam. Adam kept the creature jaws away with the help of his board as he vehemently shouted at us.
"Take Greg and go I'll lead these things and the Pugs away".
Adam as he was holding off the pack nearly burst from rage as he witnessed Nathaniel latch onto the fence and attempt to climb his way up. For his words to fall onto deaf ears now of all times was not happening. In a burst of energy, Adam ripped the board out of the beast's mouth and smacked it away like the rest giving him enough leeway to angrily shout.
"For once in your lives listen to me there's no time left. I can't cross through this way anymore and the guards have almost caught up. No one knows who or however many were involved, so let me handle it". Not wanting to listen I tugged and jerked at the fence that separated us. Danton's whose hands were bloodied from just aiding Greg over the fence tried to rip me from it, but I would not easily relinquish my grasp because In this intense moment that was most certainly our last goodbyes Adam had the audacity to lie as we parted ways. "Have some faith I'm your big brother after all".
Those words those insufferable words were the last I heard of him. They were my bane and the cornerstone to my monument of failure. For the price of one, I lost two I killed him just like how I killed my own father.
Adam ran back the way we originally came and took a sharp left leading the pack and lagging guards down a different path. I clenched my grip as I watched this unfold and rattled the fence with unbridled sorrow and rage. Danton with all his strength pulled me away. His hands latched onto my wrists with a vipers grip. I struggle definitely, I struggle in pain, my skin burned, but the pain did not relent. Not even as he turned me to face him and look into his eyes but it did bring clarity because those were not the eyes of my brother but the eyes of my jailer, Taylor.
