Ch 10 False Legends

Farah POV

Utter destrcution was all that could be seen for 400 meters in any direction. The previous mountain of rotting corpses was just a large puddle now with bone shards and shredded pelts. The stench was unbearable, so much so, even scavengers that eat rotting corpses wouldn't come near this clearing, there was no doubt that for miles in any direction, beasts and monsters would be in hiding and cowering for days to come because of the absolute oppression that represents what a dragon is. And the source of it all was a naked youth in the center of said clearing seizing non-stop and covered with blood. Farah had been on a dragon hunting expedition before with thousands of adventurers and even the gods had to descend into the mortal plane to seal it for it surpassed any dragon fought before, It was known as the War of the Aspects where the entire continent participated as allies. For her, even now its level representation to her would be [???] because it was so powerful. They were the  strongest beings next to demi-gods and gods. And if she didn't know any better she would've thought it was a dragon that caused such violence and not the youth in front her who was even the same age to boot! The rain hadn't stopped yet to which she was thankful, it began to wash all of the carnage downhill slowly but surely. From what Farah could tell, this was definately one of the two demi-gods that were supposed to fight. If not, there was no wat such power could be explained that made even her pale in terror.

Slowly coming out of hiding, Farah realized that her whole body was shaking, her legs felt like mush, and as she tried to approach the youth, danger signals and common sense would keep telling her to turn back and she would shake even more. But her duty came first, to dispose of or get the aid of one of the demi-gods. Slowly Farah took out her short sword as she was now standing over the youth, as she was about to end his life like every signal in her mind was telling her to do. For some reason she didn't, rather, she felt extremely wary of him which was not normal, even after witnessing such a seen, she is the daughter of a noble elven house, she shouldn't be wary of anyone. Even more so, it was also the same with the emotions she felt towards him, it was as if, they were being forcibly blocked and she couldn't qutie understand why. As a noble, Farah should be able to converse easily with anyone, even if they were hundreds of levels above her without even flinching. Instead, she turned him over, avoiding gazing at "that" as much as possible, she took off her cloak and covered the boy while gazing at his face. He was truly refined, hair not any less silver than hers, but the most striking feature were his eyes from earlier, even remembering the sight from so far away, they seemed endlessly deep and the color was not normal at all, especially having two different colors. Also fascinating was although he appeared human, his ears were shaped like an elfs but also seemed similar to the ears of the very same dragon that she saw get sealed with her very own eyes. Of course it was already a known fact elves and dragons had similar ears as they were two races known as higher existences. But if Eradin ever heard her say that right now, he would have probably screamed at her on the spot that only the gods and the void were higher existences, although no race in the mortal plane knew of the void as it was only a myth.

Unable to withstand staring at him anymore, Farah finally forced her nerves to calm, regaining her stern look, she picked up Eradin and slung him over her shoulder. But she almost fell down, from the weight that was absolutely not normal when her [All Non Physical Status Resistance Ring: Raise All resistances to anything that is not physical by 1] shined with light meaning she was affected by an abnormal status. It was the ring that symbolized she was to inherit the right to rule her house and was one of only 3 on the continent that she knew of and they all were in the possession of elven houses. Farah put down Eradin, and looked at him before saying "Status Open"

[Name: Farah Elenwith] [Active Title: Winds Companion] [Race: High Elf][Racial Trait: Bonus Max Mana capacity per level and increased move speed] [Level: 40] [Exp:98%/100%] [Classes: Elven Windancer]   [Titles] [Winds Companion][Aspect War Veteran]   [Hp: 2350][Mana: 1930] [Str: 440][Endurance:385][Agi:483][Int:356][Def:390]   [Skills] [Elven Wind Dance 9/10] [Magic Perception: 9/10] [Prescence Detection: 9/10] [Night Vision:Max][Bow Mastery 5/10][Etiquette:Max][Horsemanship:Max][Aerial Riding: Max] [Wind Step: 7/10]   [Magic] [Wind Magic: 5/10][Lightning Magic: 4/10]     [Equipment] [Wind Fairy Set: Set Bonus: Agility and movement speed are increased by 10% in combat. That doesn't make any sense thought Farah, he for sure is much heavier than he should be. Slowly she stepped toward Eradin and touch him with her status page open, then when she did so a message appeared under [Abnormal Statuses]

[Space/Time Gods Curse: As long as you are touching the Cursed Child, you are affected by the x10 gravity weighing him down.]

Shocked, that was what Farah felt right now as she once again almost fell, he was cursed by one of the ten Gods that descended into the mortal plane during the Aspect War. But even more terrifying was the fact that she realized by coming here, events would probably be set in motion that she didn't understand, but she was sure her father would, as long as she could bring him out of the forest and to the city, all answers could be found. This was faith that never faltered when it came to Farah's father. Once again Farah picked up Eradin, this time ready for the curse and braced herself. With him slung over her back the way she learned in the army, Farah ran through the blood soaked forest until finally she returned to camp, where her party mates were carelessly eating without a care in the world. Upon seeing her arrive with the youth slung over her back, they all spit out their food in unison.

"Farah Wh...Wh...Why did you bring that beast out of the forest, quickly put it back before it wakes up, didn't you hear the cries of the beasts throughout the forest!" Scarlet, the resident [Ranger] was fidgeting while she made that response, what Farah was holding was in no way an intelligent race in her eyes, even if it was 1/3 her level, it still was absolutely dangerous and needed to never leave the forest for in her eyes a calamity would occurr.

"No that cry you heard was this youth, and he is the same age as us, but even more importantly we need him to lead us to where the other demi-god is, perhaps we can acquire two, but also we need him to meet my father as soon as possible. Get the appraisal orb, I need to check something."

Stella reluctantly began to grab the appraisal orb out of her magic bag, but not before Scarlet caught what Farah was implying, "Gold be damned, if he really is a demi-god, all the more reason to put "IT" back into the forest that it was rampaging in, you saw just how violent it is, anything that is as unstable as that should not be messed with unless we want Algon destroyed!"

Farah began to twirl a strand of her hair around her finger while her face grew slightly contorted in annoyance, "We cannot leave two weapons of mass destruction unattended, end of story, none of you understand what I witnessed within the Algaron Forest and frankly you won't see them in a memory orb until I show them to my father. Either way, its time for conformation."

Farah grabbed the Appraisal Orb from Stella and moved Eradin's hand and placed it upon the orb, this was typically extremely rude to peak at anothers status but the situation demanded it. But there was only one thing visible within his status [Eradin Silvermoon: Status: Child of the......] and before Farah could finish reading, the Appraisal Orb shattered. While everyone else almost fainted as this never happened before, even Demi-Gods status normally could be seen when appraised. But Farah withdrew her Short Sword and seriously tried to cut Eradins wrist, but before she could, a black light appeared and Eradin's body was once again covered in his god equipment, with his scythe emitting eerie sounds as if threatening her to try and repeat the same action. It confirmed Farahs suspsicions that what she witnessed was true, he had intelligent equipment fused with his body which was unheard of even for demi-gods.

Rather than try to wake him and risk a calamity of the scale that she witnessed, Farah simply covered Eradin in a blanket and sat down with the other girls. After taking a moment to organize her thoughts Farah began to inform the other three. "From what I know he is most definately one of the demi-gods we were looking for, multiple boss level monsters were of no match to him, and from the state he was in that caused him to pass out, I am quite sure he could've slaughtered me if I was found out. Our mission remains the same, there is still another demi-god and based on this ones powers, the other one could be just as strong, a walking calamity on the scale of a True Dragon at the Great Wyrm stage is the best case scenario if they were allowed to grow in strength. The worst case, they could destroy entire countries with one attack."

The more Farah described the situation, the more the looks of understanding finally dawned across Mayra, Stella and Scarlets faces. Finally for the first time during the entire quest, Mayra spoke out meakly, "Then...then... thats why we were chosen for this quest as an A-Rank party, if we don't tame these beasts, then it could mean the end of Algon as we know it once they grow into what they are truly capable of. But if that is the case, why wasn't a stronger A-rank party chosen or even an S-Rank? We are only leveled into the forties?"

Scarlet sharply looked at Mayra with her equally sharp scarlet eyes, she understood better than most that level didn't necessarily influence the rank of a party but how much they can accomplish . "We both know that in the city, currently we are the only available A-rank party, with the rumours of Death Lords floating all over the place, the other higher leveled parties are undertaking anything that falls in line with the Death Aspects. So as the only team left, we are the ones with the responsibility and every S-Rank party has left on the same mission, one of which that we are not allowed to be informed of All we can pray is whatever they are going to kill, it won't be on the level of the Aspect War."

Stella who had been watching Eradin in a state of extreme caution finally spoke out,"Well it won't be long until we get the answers we are looking for, he's waking up, ready your weapons, he might attack."

They all hastily scrambled to the opposite side of the camp and gave Eradin plenty of space with the fire between them. In a state of absolute silence they watched Eradin wake up, and in the next moment what they didn't expect to occurr happened. He didn't even notice them and was in a state of muddled confusion. Muttering things about experience, they could only assume that he was looking at his Status. The first to regain their composure was Farah as always, slowly with absolutely no sound, she walked towards Eradin, then very carefully she called out to him as if she was talking to a wounded animal in distress, "Sir Demi-God, are you able to talk with us."

Right away she wished she hadn't mentioned a word, Eradin turned around immediately and his gaze turned to that of an animal that was hostile, his eccentric eyes drilled right into their very souls petrifying them. Picking up his Scythe, he once again began muttering under his breath before a stalemate occurred and he entered into a stance.

Eradin POV

Eradin was in an extremely groggy state, upon waking up he kept hearing messages in his head and when he opened his eyes he was bombarded with messages. Without any time to check his surroundings, Eradin just scrolled through it all to lessen his headache even a little.

[Title Earned: Lord of the Forest: Within a Forest movement speed is increased by 10% and Attack Speed is increases by 5%]

[Equip Title Y/N]

Eradin chose no just to quickly move on and resumed looking at the the other messages.

[Heavy Restrition has been placed on [Skill: Cursed Child of the Sealed Gods Absolute Anger:Max] ,the skill can only be used in times of extreme life and death danger and only when something causes the Cursed Child to be driven emotionally to the brink of insanity]

Looking at the skill description, Eradin understood what a terrifying skill he unlocked. But rather than ponder that or worry about such a dangerous skill, his first thought was to laugh at the soon to be Hero someday. "I bet you won't have such an OP skill because you need to follow morales and act like a bootlicker to the oh so wonderful ten gods the continent worships the most."

[All Sensory and Aura Skills not originating from a God uniformly level up to 5/10 due to using them to the absolute limits fighting five boss level entities]

[ Total Souls Absorbed:740  Total Soul Points: 389]

[Fused Body Exp: 22.5%/100%]     [Exp: 12%/100%]

Eradin couldn't believe what he saw but after rechecking what it said, he muttered a small spiteful remark to the Space/Time God, "Haha, take that you crotchety bastard, I did so well I directly bypassed your shitty curse that requires double experience as a reward. Score one for me!"

[Deathly Glare] has evolved to [Petrifying Soul Gaze]

[Cursed Star is now 2/10]

[Surviving the potential of a True God Body being unlocked partially when you absolutely weren't ready raised [Physical Resistance] and [Mental resistance] to 3]

With that final message, Eradin finally felt a little better, but the pain in his body didn't hurt much less, it was a burning and stinging sensation everywhere, the resistances helped a little but they weren't strong enough to counteract a gods curse yet. His vision finally cleared of all the messages, Eradin finally came to his senses and heard a womens voice trying to sooth him.

"Sir Demi-God, are you able to talk with us."

Eradin turned around and saw an Elf of level 40, she had silver hair just like he did but about her was a dignified aura that he didn't like as it reminded him of the ten gods. Staring directly into her with hostile eyes, Eradin stood up and readied his scythe. Ready to activate [Rage of the Dragon God] at any moment even though he probably shouldn't. Slowly Eradin looked at the group of four before taking into account his curses make people who meet and see him for the first time wary. Even without the curses, people would be wary just based on his appearance.

A slight wind blew around the Elf and to Eradin's shock, she unstrapped her weapons and threw them onto the ground before kicking them towards him. Before signaling for her companions to put down their weapons. Once again she looked at Eradin, "Let us retry that, I'm going to be honest, something about you just puts anyone on edge, but i've already seen you rampage around, if I have to guess you are still recuperating from the consequences of using so much divine power. All I ask is that you retract that giant scythe into your body and have a chat with us."

Eradin was surprised at her statement, she didn't seem as cautious as she should. That means she must've seen me fighting the Lords of the Forest and brought me here when I was unconscious, that would explain why she is having an easier time talking to me than those other three who are extremely hostile looking. Slowly stepping back, Eradin directed a piercing gaze at the elfs companions before closing his eyes. "Have that girl stop whatever curse or dark magic she's chanting, it's easy to tell she's trying something that would more than likely seal me in some way."

Stella immediately stopped chanting and her eyes almost bulged out, "How do you know what attribute I was using! That shouldn't be possible unless you can recognize the exact chant of which there are millions of different combinations!"

Eradin didn't answer and only kept his eyes closed, through [Inner Body Perception] he could see a dark mass congregate around the girl when she was speaking, going by color and what little he could guess about dark magic and the form it was taking, it probably indirectly affected a person. But the real reason he could guess she was attempting a curse or sealing spell is because on Eradins own body he was covered by ten dark symbols that he noticed once his [Inner Body Perception] leveled, and he assumed they were his curses. The symbol taking form around the wizard girl was quite similar with only minute differences, compared to the god curses it was lack-luster and didn't feel like divine power but the shape and feelings he got from it was similar , hence he made his guess.

Farah stared angrily at Stella, "Enough! To think a sealing spell would work against a Demi-God, throw down your weapons, he isn't hostile...for now. But make no mistake Demi-God, if you are to turn your scythe against the city, we have been ordered to slaughter you."

For once, Eradin finally calmed down at that remark, he had been living these past days living by the scythe so direct remarks like that got his blood boiling, "Fine then, it seems you need something, so let's trade. Give me a head band to cover my eyes, and we shall sit down and chat."

"Why do you need a headband? You had beast hide blocking your senses when you fought as well?"

Eradin grew annoyed, he didn't want to reveal his one of a kind sensory skills, "Surely you can understand that I won't just tell you my reasons after we first met, all that I'll reveal is it's a sense of comfort. I feel more secure with my eyes covered and as you can see, my eyes are not normal. If I met you, then that means there are others quite possibly, and I'd rather them think I am blind than see my eccentric eyes. Besides I can function fine withut my vision."  Trueto his words, Eradin did feel a sense of comfort. With sight, hearing and sound blocked for training purposes, Erading grew to rely on his sensory skills, honing them to the limit, they were still only half complete but could be considered close to other sensory skills that were completed in training. The ease given by complete awareness in a 200 meter circle that would only grow larger as it was improved was something that Eradin needed, whether he needed to be in that state all the time was different, but it was his choice.

Deciding not to question him any further, Farah agreed, she took out a knife she had hidden on her back, which was the only reason why she threw her weapons at Eradin, she was always armed, removing a spare cloak from her spatial ring, at once it was shredded into strips and then layering the extremely thin fabric, Farah took out thread and sewed them together with her extremely agile hands. In less than five minutes, a headband of higher quality than what Eradin made was completed. "Here, now let's chat, come sit by the fire."

Eradin accepted the headband that was silky, but effectively blocked his vision, closing his eyes underneath the headband, once again all sensory skills were activated. Sitting down at the fire, Eradin simply waited for Farah to speak, as the atmosphere was tense and frankly those other three girls looked like they wanted to string him up and cook him like a whole hog over an open flame for torture, especially that raven haired cranky wizard.

"So let's get straight to the point, we were dispatched here for two reasons, one of which was to find the source of the problem with the beasts and monsters, that still hasn't been finished but you thinning the numbershelped, the other was to either kill or get the aid of the two demi-gods that the scryers said were supposed to have a fight to the death in the forest. And you are the first one that was found so priority goes to you overthe other one if you agree to return to Elren with us and help with the other demi-god."

Eradin simply sat in silence and soaked in the information, but his thoughts were running wild, Score for the God of Fortune, to think there were scryers in this world. To think I hadn't met any people, but the first ones I do meet already knew I was a demi-god. My luck really is trash, to think I wouldn't be able to hide it for even a few days. But at least, that also gives me some leverage, they don't know what I am capable of. I don't remember much but if I made a strong enoug impression when I was in rage mode, then I might be able to find a loophole out of this.

Keeping an emotionless face, Eradin began to realize this was a chance to learn about the world. Twirling his fingers and avoiding the murderous gazes of the three girls that he could easily sense because of the bloodlust, Eradin only tried to think that Farah was here and ignored the other three. "What is Elren? Where is this place?"

Farah was shocked, had he been living in this forest his whole life, if so, then she really might be able to get him to side with Algon who had the fewest demi-god representatives, but their strength made up for the disparity in numbers. But then again, logically speaking, he did have a curse or possibly more on him so that must be addressed first, anyone that was affected by one of the ten creator gods must have a reason. The only problem, how to ease into such a topic, it was not polite to know what others were affected by unless they told you themselves. Steeling herself with thoughts of courage along the lines of, I am a noble high elf, the prodigy of my father, he wouldn't falter so I can't either.

"This is the Continent of Aspects, where the gods who each rule over a specific aspect lead and thus bring either prosperity or calamity. Currently we are in the country of Algon, within Algaron Forest. We are a mountain and forest nation on the edge of the continent. With the sea at our backs, we only fear the land ahead of us, occupied by other countries. Elren is the city closest to the border of multiple nations, one of which is Brail who we are currently having a high possibility of going to war with. The reason is rather simple, we are a country that doesn't have racial discrimination, we are a mix of everything, even necromancers are allowed to study here as long as they don't cause any problems. But also, as a nation with numerous mountains for mining rare minerals and plenty of lumber, we are like a gold mine for other larger countries. The only thing stopping all the countries from fighting over us is that although we don't have even half as many demi-gods as the next smallest nation. Ours are of higher quality, as a country that has to survive with the fangs of other countries always at our neck, it has forced every last ounce of talent out of the people that live here, even those who don't fight, they are still of a better stock than any other country."

Eradin grinned slightly, even in this world there was racism, if anyone said anything about him, since there were no rules he would slaughter them. As he was imagining rampaging through battlfields, Eradin felt an even greater bloodlust from Farah and realized he started to ignore her. "My apologies, I was soaking in the information." Phew, glad I noticed quickly women are seriously scary if they are ignored.

Farah gave him a death stare but continued. "Another deciding factor is because we are a nation loved by nature and doesn't have a high a population, countless monsters, and beasts, some of which are frighteningly strong and could take on entire armies alone and require S-Rank parties to have casualties to kill, call this place their home because of two reasons, since there is more land uncultivated and it hasn't been used to depletion, the over all magic density here is higher than other places. I'm sure you have sensed that, it is why the low level beasts like goblins which shouldn't be able to use magic are able to more often than not. But the biggest reason is that it is said the King of All Beasts is to be born here someday. The legend states that one day, an egg shall be found by someone destined to be its rider, upon the day they both rise to be unrivalled by even among the demi-gods, the beasts will all submit themselves to it and the people will submit themselves to the rider, with such a pact, a new nation shall be born from the ashes of another filled with riders and their beasts alike, this does not include beasts that would harm the population or monsters though within the pact supposedly. To lead into an era of prosperity, this is supposedly linked to the hero legend that states the hero will come to the world when gods descend into the mortal plane against the laws of the gods, and save the races. But it is not proven that the hero blessed by the ten creator gods, and even other benevolent gods, is to be the rider, although there are many who wish that would be the case, as who doesn't want to flaunt as a country that a hero of light saved the world from the evil gods with his partner King of All Beasts."

Eradin almost couldn't hold in his laughter, King of All Beasts, Evil Gods, Ten Creator Gods, what a load of complete bullshit, do these people in this world have the equivalent of drugs from earth that make them high and have delusions. The King of All Beasts was the Dragon God, the Evil Gods were the ten Creator Gods, but they weren't even creator gods, but second generation gods! The hero saving the world, that was also a load of complete and utter delusional beliefs, at most, Eradin believed some person would be summoned or reincarnated, probably some otaku -not that Eradin hated them as he enjoyed such hobbies as well- that would only care about themselves and their self centered mission to save the continent and kill the gods who were evil only because they told  were to by some mush-brained idiots that were the ten gods who just wanted all gods that went against them out of the way. Then to top it all off, they would be egotistical and expect everyone to kneel before them because they were the chosen one and needed lots of attention and treasures to aid them in their quest, which was just glorified stealing from a person as an immature brat. There was no doubt in Eradins mind, that the day the so called hero arrived, they would be exactly like that, and when that day comes, Eradin would just watch and laugh at the drama series unfold.

"Now that I have given you some information about this world, it's time you answer one simple question. Why are you cursed by one of the ten creator gods?" When she said that, Eradin could sense a slight amount of anger directed at him form Farah and boat loads of it from the other three.

Rather than hide it, Eradin would make it simple, if they wanted his help, since they already knew his secrets because of the bastard known as the God of Fortune by just happening to scry him and somehow notice his curse. Then they would have to be in for a rude awakening about the true behind the scenes problem this shitty world had, and realize just how inept they were to think that everything would be all right if they put all their lives on the whims of gods that definately shouldn't be trusted so easily.

Eradin simply smirked at them and as he was about to let it all spill out, his hatred for the gods, one final thought went through his mind.

Let the drama series on this world begin for my enjoyment begin, who needs a hero, who needs to follow rules and morals when they are meant to hurt you, who needs faith in fake gods that will curse you for a simple case of not understanding you were supposed to be there. Despite not looking how they thought you were supposed to look. It's time to bring these people out of the hell known as absolute faith and blind devotion, and plant the seeds of doubt that every living thing should feel in their lifetimes.
