Guizou, still dodging left and right as he advanced, was questioning some things, his body spinning mid-air to spy on the idiots behind. So many of them died and they keep coming! Also, was I wrong? One must really be petty if they get chased and bother making literally hundreds of traps like these...
Being able to see as if it was day, Guizou was well aware of the absurd amount of traps sprinkled around. A single arrow trap would have dozens of pressure plates tied to it. The amount of safe tiles compared to unsafe ones amounted to a shocking difference the further down the tunnel.
Near the end, there was one safe spot for over thirty pressure plates! Thankfully, Wu Tian was not a random peasant by the roadside by now, so he could still manage. As for the morons behind, still somewhat daring enough to rush ahead, their statuses within his heart crumbled even further. He despised them already.
Unaware of the loathing a Great Emperor had for them, the group was being butchered like cattle. Arrows they could not see or hear fast enough were impaling them. Each arrow was made of pure steel with a size comparable to an adult. Each of them much heavier than they should. Unable to see it, the group did not realize these arrows to be engraved with strange patterns.
Guizou, on the other hand, could tell what was inscribed on them. Decent arrays. The owner was, probably, at least a Yellow Plate! Guizou himself was only one rank higher, an Orange Plate Array Master. And even then, the owner might have been at his level or above in reality. This made him somewhat embarrassed, unsure why.
However, this did not matter as much as their effects. He could tell each arrow to only be inscribed with arrays increasing weight and defensive power. He gauged only a peak level Great Master to be able enough to contend with them head on.
The more he approached the end, the more Guizou would experience trouble, since the arrows moved much, much faster than Wu Tian's body. Luckily, the fools behind retreated after some time. Otherwise, he was not sure how to deal with the arrows when half-way done. If not for his perception of time almost freezing everything in place, he would have already messed up.
Dodging an arrow tens of times faster than one's body was possible with enough distance, but if he was close to such a degree, where proximity turned into a nightmare of luck, even he, a Great Emperor, would not be able to dodge any longer.
Realizing the arrows to have stopped coming, even Wu Tian could see what happened when his body turned around. A dome of yellow lights was shielding a group, illuminating them. There only remained four. The young lady with the artifact, the young man with the other artifact and the two middle aged men standing by the woman's side.
The rest remained on the ground, some convulsing. Limbs were missing, some impaled on spikes, others crushed into mush. The majority was left with gaping holes in their bodies, obviously originating from the arrows.
Blood smeared the tiles, puddles of it everywhere.
Wu Tian's mouth opened, Guizou baffled by their luck or idiocy. "The dome is not even cracked. They didn't use it before. I don't know what to think of it. It would have been useless anyway, but they didn't even try."
About to continue, they heard a sonic boom from all sides. Wu Tian's ears were almost crippled, his mind in pain while Guizou fared not much better. "This isn't g-" Raising Wu Tian's right leg, a giant steel arrow landed on the floor, the wind pressure almost pushing him off onto the pressure plates behind. Without much delay, dozens of loud sounds echoed, almost piercing his eardrums.
After some silence, he looked around, hundreds of steel arrows lodged into the floor tiles. It transformed the somewhat empty giant corridor into a battlefield.
However this came as a benefit. "Well now I don't have to worry about going too slow." Jumping onto the arrows, Guizou made the body jump from one to the other. He was still wary, as he did not yet understand why so many arrows came flying when no traps were activated at the time. Delayed system? Tracking my progress?
But the most urgent thought still came from within.
Already?! Dammit! Wu Tian's body was slowly bleeding from his seven orifices. Guizou knew why. It was a simple side effect of possession. In this world, no soul other than the original could perfectly assimilate with a body. Being a Great Emperor as well, Guizou's soul was complicated. Having a Heart Soul still gave him more time, but he could already tell.
If he stayed inside Wu Tian for too long, both might die. Wu Tian's body could only resist for around an hour currently.
"Kiddo, I'm speeding up!" The result would be even worse, the more strength used causing more damage, but he had no choice. He refused to let him go in such a dangerous area.

"Prepare yourself! I will remove the possession whenever a safe spot arise!" Running at maximum speed, Guizou forced the body to whistle by with the wind.
Each step landed perfectly atop an arrow, each movement calculated to perfectly match the terrain. A dance almost.
"Once I remove the possession, hide and recover. At the time... when you have recovered... how to say it... Basically recover and hope that it fixes everything, because I will be possessing you more I'm sure. This place is more chaotic than you might think." Guizou noticed the Daos to be getting stronger, shielding Wu Tian's flesh with his spirituality.
A dense layer of freezing fog was slowly condensing the further he went. A strange miasma easily repelled by his presence.
However he also felt a dense warmth and vigor ahead. He could clearly see burnt marks on the walls in some places. Principles of fire and lightning...
The owner of this place... was it being chased by one or more enemies? Could have been two early Monarchs or one middle stage Monarch... maybe worse even...
The leftover Daos are crude... Once again confirming my guesses. Could we find some good stuff in here? If we are lucky, we could find a good three corpses from Monarchs! Let alone the space rings, we might find very important herbs and materials!
Very poorly containing his excitement, Guizou was almost at the end. He took note of the paths ahead. Directly in front stood rooted a grey wall filled with holes. Each hole previously shot giant arrows, obvious of its purpose. But to the left and right, the impressive corridor was branching. Because the whole thing was very sharp in its construction, Guizou could not yet see what awaited.
A few minutes more of jumping, Wu Tian's feet finally landed at the end. He was standing on a lodged steel arrow, investigating both sides.
"Doesn't seem like any matter. Right or left should be the same? Hopefully..." Throwing a copper coin on each side, Guizou was shocked. The coins travelled at rapid speed, crossing the ten or so meters and collided with the floor inside the new corridors. The moment it did, one door on each side fell down from the ceiling, blocking the way. Each door was a good five meters thick, made up of a very robust material. The slamming of these doors caused a rumble to be felt even from afar.
At least that person wasn't missing in resources. Two doors made up of Metal Crushing Stone. Wait, it's actually an alloy! Metal Crushing Stone mixed with a bit of Stellar Silver Steel!
Still waiting, Guizou was a bit unnerved from the fact that four suicidal idiots were behind them, themselves standing a few meters away from a wall able to launch dozens of adult sized steel arrows weighting tens of thousands of pounds at the speed of sound.
A good thirty seconds passing by, the doors opened. "Aiz! Kid, your body will have to handle the damage a bit longer." Since both side were the same, Guizou played heads or tails with a copper coin, itself landing on going right. Watching carefully, Guizou was facing this new path. The door was right above the entrance line, the corridor turning sharply to the left a good twenty to thirty meters away.
"So, brat. I will have to ask you to hold on as best as you can. Just pray that your body can handle a little martial method... or two... or three... well you get the gist." The reason Guizou wished to take such a risk came from the path ahead. The copper coin had landed somewhere random, where there laid nothing. Obvious to him, the traps were a bit more sophisticated this time.
Since he dared not play with time in here, he preferred to brute force his way through with pure speed.
"Might as well teach you something though. So listen and feel everything as best you can!" Wu Tian's soul nodded in a strange space. He felt like sweating, but could not.
"Alright! To begin, we have to increase momentum. The best way is to just use a good martial method from the get go."
Not bothering with a stance, Guizou was still standing on the remotely thin arrow's shiny body.
Wu Tian focused, secretly excited to see new methods. But just as he waited, he realized himself to be lost. The space around him was gone. He floated deep down a giant valley of a gorgeous scenery. Sparse trees and bushes, some grass, randomly sprinkled onto the two giant slanted walls of light brown dirt and cold stone. A blue sky filled with white slithering clouds stood above him.
He only heard a few words amidst the confusion.
"Here is a high Earth Grade method, [Elusive Reclusive]. The first part, [Immortal Chasing Valley]." Regaining some of his locked senses, Wu Tian slowly recovered. Able to see once again, he noticed his body to already be near the sharp turn inside the corridor, floating mid-air with strange momentum. Unable to see, he missed a magnificent illusion stranded behind him of an immortal valley. An undulating glow tailing his every move, forming the pattern of a snake almost.
"Now for the annoying turn, we take a foothold on the wall." Wu Tian's body crouched, as if stuck to the wall. This same body suddenly blurred. Crimson escaped from his skin, a tightness suffocating his flesh. But Guizou showed no mercy. "We're almost there I think, I can see the end?"
"To celebrate, let's go a level higher! High Heaven Grade!" Wanting to vomit, Wu Tian still held his soul in place. He saw his vision warp strangely, a powerful wind almost snapping his bones in half. His master's voice heard. "This is the first part of the [World Viewing Steps], the [World Crossing Step]." Before he could understand anything, his vessel was already a good fifty meters in front, as if teleporting.
Gracefully falling down, Wu Tian's feet touched the ground without trouble. Guizou snapped the head around, taking in as much information.
They now stood inside an absolutely massive hall. It was extremely dark as always, only Guizou able to see properly. But there still was some light this time. Just not much of it. Wu Tian still unable to see much.
Guizou saw the ceiling to be a bit higher than previously, a good hundred to a hundred and fifty meters high. The opposing left wall even further away. Some large makeshift pillars of stacked stone bricks tens of meters thick were supporting the ceiling. Something Guizou did not appreciate, already imagining the pillars to be quite wobbly.
As for the sight in front, because of the pillars, Guizou was not sure. "Let's rest here." Tossing another copper coin, it bounced in multiple places but triggered no defense mechanism.
Leaving Wu Tian's body, Guizou recovered inside the pendant. Losing a good five percent of his spiritual energy did not feel amazing. Wu Tian ecstatic about it all, he could now finally recover.
Looking behind him, he shivered before walking toward the middle point to his direct left. He only needed to put some distance between the two corridors on each side. There was no need to adventure forward yet.
