2 - Surviving

2 - Surviving

Mitch walked for hours finding nothing else other than the occasional slimes which he still bashed and used the gather skill on them to get the points and resources.

8 x Small infant harmless nature slime core converted into 8 points!

After walking for so much time he was very thirsty, his only bet was to find a river or to get the create element skill so he could create some water if he is lucky, but for that, he needed points and slimes were scarce.

He couldn’t wait anymore and bought the inspection skill so he could inspect the raspberry bushes that he keep finding to see if they are good to eat or poisonous.

He got near the raspberry bush and used the skill.

“Inspect!”

Red Raspberry - a sweet fruit loved by the forest’s inhabitants. Not poisonous.

“Finally some good luck!”

Mitch ate until he felt full, and stuffed his pockets with berries for later. His thirst was somewhat gone and with a full belly, he got walking again.

He used the new skill on everything he saw, stones, trees, grass, and even the occasional slime.

Infant nature slime – danger level none.

Before the sun got down he managed to find a cave where he could sleep. When he got closer the air felt different, he knew what it was tho, because of the skills that he bought he had a little bit of knowledge in mana, and the mana density was higher than normal.

“Based on my game knowledge this might be a dungeon?”

He pondered if he should enter the cave, maybe there was more slime in the cave to gather more points, it was dangerous but he needed every advantage he could get.

Mitch got his things ready before going into the dungeon, he stored the slime drops beside a tree outside the dungeon, then got 2 thick branches and stuffed his pocket with berries and some stones.

Peeking inside the cave he saw nothing unusual, just a normal cave, it was going down on a slope and he could see only 50 meters inside the cave because of the slope. The inside of the cave was somewhat lit by a strange glowy moss that was almost everywhere on the cave ceiling, if not for the moss he wouldn’t have had any chance to make a fire yet, he would’ve needed the skill to create element fire which would take days to grind the slimes.

He started to slowly walk inside the cave, after going down for a few minutes, the corridor started to get bigger until it was so big that 5 of him could walk side by side. The corridor opened up into a big chamber with many slimes of different colors scattered around, slightly bigger than the slimes he killed before.

“Identify”

Small electric slime – danger level low.

Small nature slime – danger level low.

Small earth slime – danger level low.

The electric slime had small bursts of lighting around him and was transparent white, the nature slime wasn’t that different from its outside counterparts, the only difference was the size, it was a little bit bigger, the earth slime was brown and wasn’t so transparent like the others.

“Who should I kill first? Would they all start attacking me if I attack one of them?”

Mitch wasn’t sure what to do, he throw a rock at every slime, and the stone plunged into the electric one and got churned by the lighting zaps, the slime just stood still, unaffected by the rock.

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“I shouldn’t mess with those guys.”

The nature one did nothing also, the stone just remained inside of it. The earth slime was different, the rock bounced off of the slime like it hit a wall.

“So my best chance is the nature one.”

Luckily for him, the slimes stayed in groups based on their elements.

He got his branch in hand and got closer to its first prey. Mitch bashed the slime with all his strength but unlike the slime from outside this time he met resistance, he raised the branch to bash it again and...

“OW!!!” Mitch screamed and looked terrified at his leg where he felt a sharp pain.

A root with a sharp edge uncharacteristic of normal wood he saw, struck at his leg a little bit over his ankle, the root retreated inside the earth where it came from while he ran back to the room entrance. The slime followed for a few meters then stopped, minding his business again.

“What the fuck, I can’t kill even the weakest mobs, this is too unfair! I hope my leg doesn’t get infected.”

Mitch managed to get back to the cave entrance and with a sharp rock made a bandage from his t-shirt sleeve. The wound was shallow and the blood stopped pretty fast but the pain while he walked was still there.

“I want home, God if you are there please, just send me home. I will stop complaining about my boring job, I will even get in shape and donate half my money to charity or something just get me out of here!”

There was no response, only the sound of the wind through the tree canopy and the birds chirping. He felt alone and helpless.

After the little mental breakdown, it dawned on him that he is alone and he must fight to survive in this hell hole. Mitch got to gather big leaves so he can have a nice blank to sleep that night, he ate what berries remained in his pockets and shut his eyes for the night.

The night was uneventful, the slimes from the dungeon didn’t get up to the entrance and nothing came from the forest also. Waking up Mitch got up motivated with a new plan to defeat the slimes in the dungeon. He just had to farm some points to get new skills and for that, he needed to kill those small slimes outside.

18 x Small infant harmless nature slime core converted into 18 points!

Mitch had now 30 points, he managed to kill some slimes on his way to the dungeon the day he arrived in this strange world and he bought his skills.

Congratulations! You bought „Create element”!

Congratulations! You bought „Create common weapon”!

The information got forcefully inserted into his brain, this time his headache was paralyzing for the time it took to get all the information necessary.

“Create element water”, Mitch said while a small ball of water the size of a ping pong ball materialized in front of his palm. The ball of water stayed there for a second then dropped to the ground splashing everywhere.

“That was awesome!!!”

Mitch tried the elements he could think of, water, fire, earth, wind, electricity, and other things he thought of like light, shadow...He experimented and found he could only create the 4 basic elements and the 2 that he got from the wheel holy, and space which acted strange.

Fire made a small fireball the size of the water counterpart that got extinguished after a few seconds, the earth made a ball of earth, and the wind made a ball of pressurized wind.

The holy element made a ball also of golden energy and he tried making it on top of the wound, to his surprise, his wound started closing and healing at a noticeable rate. After 5 seconds of using it, he felt a headache and the spell just stopped.

He opened his status sheet and found out what the problem was, his mana points were 0, he found before that his mana will regen pretty fast at 1 in 10 seconds when inside the dungeon, and 1 in 1 minute when outside. His mana regenerated and he fully healed his wound.

The space element was the strange one, it formed a black ball that did nothing, he tried to push his hand through and even a stick or a stone but it did nothing.

“Maybe I don’t understand its capabilities yet or I need a higher-tier skill to use it.”

He tried using the weapon creation skill but nothing happened, he figured that maybe he needed more mana, but he didn’t know how he could increase it.

“I hope it is like a muscle and the more I use it the bigger it gets.”

Mitch could make a small fireball but he wanted to be able to throw it, he started experimenting by throwing it which didn’t work at all, the tried thinking about the fireball just moving forward which didn’t work well. He then tried to contemplate all his mana knowledge that he got from his skills which helped him a little. After numerous tries he got the ability to push more mana in the skill making the fireball a little bit bigger and using 2 mana instead of one, granting him a passive.

Congratulations! You have a disposition towards mana, you can manipulate mana even though it is just a little!

You got „Apprentice mana manipulation” [+5 mana and a little help with mana manipulation]!
