Chapter 6: Exiting Seclusion

Chapter 6: Exiting Seclusion

Quite satisfied with the numerous gains he had accumulated over the last few days of seclusion, Li Wei motioned to the bath in his quarters. After a quick wash, he dressed himself in his usual attire and exited his room. Immediately upon exiting, his mother could be seen standing patiently in front of the room. A wry smile morphed across his lips as he could guess what this scenario was about. She gave him a piercing stare, expecting an explanation without having to mutter a single word. Realizing this, Li Wei chuckled helplessly and shook his head as he continued to walk through the hallway which prompted Li Xue to follow.

“I’ll explain everything. Don’t worry mother. Though, certain details are probably best kept between the leadership of the clan. Are the others busy?”

A burning sideway glance looked at Li Wei but she answered nonetheless.

“The elders are in the Main Hall. They’ve been there ever since the message from the Heavenly System. Furthermore, the entire clan has been placed on lockdown. We had every clan member swear an oath to not disclose anything about this so-called Bloodline Trait.”

Li Wei nodded in appreciation of the foresight.

“I should have considered that before. Apologies for the chaos this certainly brought.”

“All will be forgiven as soon as you cough up how exactly you did such an insane thing!”

She blurted out in a frustrated huff as they both moved into the Main Hall where several anxious men and women who had already sensed their arrival awaited them.

“Sister Xue!”

“Leader Wei!”

Various acknowledgments of their arrival were made as he took a seat and scanned over the crowd of elders before him.

“I assume you are all curious as to what that message from the Heavenly System was and how it came to be.”

Several nods came in response.

“You are only partly right Leader Wei. Many of us have already figured out this so-called Li Records by ourselves. “

“Brother is correct, as many of the clan eventually had a compulsion that kept pushing us to do something. When we willed this sensation free, we entered a strange space in our minds! With tons of manuals to explore!”

The crowd of elders became rowdy as they exclaimed about their experiences in a jumbled mess of voices. Li Wei soon could not take everything at once and clapped his hands, expressing an infusion of Qi through the collision. A small but loud enough shockwave occurred which quickly quieted the room.

“Before I carry on, I request that everyone here make an oath of silence on anything I say about how this Bloodline Trait came to be.” He looked into the eyes of the elders one by one with stern focus.

It did not take long until every person in the hall made an oath of silence to the Heavenly System, and he accepted the prompts that came with it. With that settled, he continued.

“When I had entered seclusion and was desperately trying to improve my skills, a foreign power not of this world came to me. I am the sole owner of this power, and it allows me to create nearly anything I can imagine with very few limits.”

Multiple eyebrows lifted in response, but he ignored them.

“I won’t get further into the details about this power and what it asks for in exchange but the ‘Li Records’ that I created will bring our clan to new heights!”

Li Wei boldly declared at the top of his lungs.

His mother, Li Xue, tilted her head in confusion.

“Are you sure you’re feeling well son? This sounds a bit—”

She suddenly choked on air in surprise as the others in the room had their eyes widen when Li Wei pulled out an E Grade Sword. Immediately they could tell because of the presence that the weapon unleashed into the area. It felt intimidating for those in the First Step.

“I used my power to create this. I think it should be proof enough that I mean what I say.”

An unnatural silence remained in the room as they all processed his words. Wanting to clarify his earlier statement, Li Wei placed his sword back into his storage ring.

“The Li Records has every skill that anyone recognized of Li Clan Blood has created. Even those of before our ancient relocation. It is available to anyone of Li Clan blood to use. Additionally, 6 years in the Li Records is the same as 1 hour in the real world. I hope that this will allow the clan to gather insights quicker than our current and any future adversaries. ”

Revelation after revelation hit the emotions of the people in the room like a ton of bricks. Tears began flowing down the faces of many and a newfound hope for the future blossomed.

And while his mother, Li Xue, was excited, she was also confused.

“But I am not of Li Clan Blood. I married your late father and became officially part of the Li Clan through that union. Yet I can access this Li Records with no issue.”

Li Wei turned to his mother in shock and cursed himself internally for forgetting such an obvious detail. Still, what she said made him thoughtful for a moment before replying.

“Maybe being the mother of someone with Li Clan blood grants access? To be honest, I should have thought more carefully when creating this space for the clan.”

Li Xue shook her head quickly and laid a comforting palm on his shoulder.

“You did more than any of us could have ever hoped for. You changed the trajectory of this clan when we needed it most.” She said with great sincerity.

“Sister Xue is correct; the young leader has truly outdone himself.”

“I concur sister! We could never hope to repay this contribution he has made!”

“Long live Leader Wei!”

"Long live Leader Wei!”

"Long live Leader Wei!”

Everyone in the hall suddenly knelt and kowtowed in deep respect. Even his mother did the same, making Li Wei completely flustered and he hurriedly jumped off his seat. He tried to have his mother, aunties, and uncles lift their heads from the floor for a good ten minutes until they finally acquiesced. An exhausted sigh escaped his lips as his mother held both of his shoulders and looked straight into his eyes.

“There are no limits to what we can do now. We can reclaim our former glory told in our clan’s history. All thanks to you.” A warm smile appeared on Li Xue’s face that was matched by the others in the room.

Li Wei smiled at this reception and nodded.

‘And hopefully, surpass it!’ He thought to himself.
