Qi Beasts & Mana Beasts
These two species can have multiple subspecies but they are all born the same way. They are born from high concentrations of either Mana or Qi itself and by Dungeons. A Dungeon Break can also spread them into the wild. In some rare occasions, a mundane animal can also evolve into one of these two Beasts but that is not common.
Unlike humans, they do not receive the option of selecting a class. Instead, they gain innate abilities as they level. The frequency of this is dependent on the specific subspecies but on average they gain 1-2 abilities every 50 levels.
These Beasts level through consuming the life force of other beings or in simpler terms, hunting.
Furthermore, their skills are called abilities because they do not have a skill slot. That is only universally applied to those that are fully recognized by the System. It is to the belief of some that the Heavenly System views these Beasts as anomalies of reality but evidence on this is quite sparse.

These Beasts can have race evolutions and they drastically shift both their capability and their biological structure every time. These are not uniform and even those of the same subspecies can have different outcomes arise from these evolutions.
After the 9th Step of the Mortal Rank, both Mana & Beasts become Divine Beasts. Divine Beasts can use both Qi & Mana but will have an aptitude with one over the other. A 9th Step Divine Beast would be considered a disaster that would take an army of gods to kill.
Higher Step Qi/Mana Beasts and Divine Beasts can be quite intelligent. Some even have the ability to shape-shift. These are some of the more dangerous kinds to encounter.
Beast Zones
These are places with a large collection of Qi / Mana Beasts in one area. As these Beasts can reproduce, they become hunting and training Grounds if properly culled regularly. There is always a risk of these regions getting out of control though.
There are Beast Zones that have been abandoned altogether because of the power of the Beasts being too hard to handle. Of course, they are rare simply because large factions such as empires have beings at their disposal that can deal with virtually any Beast Zone.
